Meet Punny Girl, Danielle Prescod

Q: What do you love about what you do? I love that every day I wake up I get to do something different. Currently, I am covering a lot of beauty and fitness stuff, which is nice because I started my career in fashion so I feel like I learn something new everyday. 

Q: What’s the most fun part of your day? My most fun part of my day is when I get to do my lip sync series on Snapchat. It is especially fun if I have a guest. 

Q: What’s the most fun part of your day? One time when I was an intern, a stylist wanted to shoot tights from Emanuel Ungaro that we couldn’t get shipped from Italy. We ended up having to DIY them. These tights were black opaque with giant gemstones attached. The homemade solution was to have me put on the black tights and the stylist’ assistant glued the gemstones to them while they were on my legs. I was basically acting as a human leg cast. The problem was the glue soaked through the tights and stuck to my legs. It look so long to peel off and a few layers of my skin went with it.

Q: How do you find balance?  Lately, finding balance is pretty easy. I try to eliminate drama and negativity and live the healthiest life possible. 

Q: Tell us something most people don’t know about you.  This is really hard! I am a chronic oversharer so I feel like people probably know too much about me. I guess a good fact is that I am a dog expert after I volunteered at a vet for two years. My parents told me I couldn’t get a dog until I learned how to take care of one so I went to learn. 

Q: What does being a punny girl mean to you? It’s super hard to be original these days and I think being a punny girl means being ok with not being like everyone else.

Q: If you were left on Mars with one thing to grow, what would it be? A wifi tower.

Q: What do you love about what you do? So much! I love it all! Everything from discovering new designers to styling looks onset. Nothing is more awesome than seeing the final story when you know just how many hours, creative energy and insane passion goes into making every photograph as beautiful and dreamy as possible. I also love playing with the clothes. The clothes! Seeing all of these gorgeous pieces - whether it’s vintage or straight off the runway - up close and being able to play with them is pretty incredible.

Q: What’s the most fun part of your day? That’s almost impossible to answer, mostly because every day brings a new and totally unanticipated adventure. I’ve done everything from shoot on top of the empire state building at 6AM to a sunset shoot in an empty desert outside of Los Angeles. So, I suppose the most fun part of my job is always expecting the unexpected. It’s the best kind of adrenaline rush.

Q: What’s your favorite NYC-living pun? I happen to be surrounded by an exceptionally punny group of friends, so we bounce these thoughts around all the time. Some examples include: Clothes make the Manhattan, Glampire State of Mind, and Alternate Side Street Sparkling. One of my favorites references my all-time favorite neighborhood in NYC, the Lower East Side: LES IS MORE.

Q: If you were left on Mars with one thing to grow, what would it be? One thing?! Probably champagne, but not just any champagne. It would be mixed with some kind of magical ingredient that, with every sip I took, would transport to Mars whatever I wanted on command: friends, tacos, unicorns, pop tarts, kittens, clothes, and my shoes (especially the sparkly ones!)

Q: What do you love about what you do? My co-founder and I started Stowaway out of our own frustration of wanting premium makeup essentials that made more sense of our on-the-go lifestyle. In a sense, we wanted our beauty routines simplified with great product and safe ingredients so being able to accomplish that for ourselves is incredibly satisfying. But I think what I love most about what I do is providing that for all women. Our north star as a brand is to make women’s lives easier. 

Q: What's the most fun part of your day? Each day varies and honestly some days are not fun at all but I do love when I’m working on new products, visiting our factories, or making refinements on formulations.

Q: What's your favorite NYC-living pun? It’s not really a pun, but I’ve had to correct how people say my name my entire life and then I moved to a city where a neighborhood is named Chelsea. The name Chelsea is my nemesis. I think my next Bow & Drape customized top will have to say “It’s Chelsa not Chelsea” 

Q: If you were left on Mars with one thing to grow, what would it be? I know I should say some type of food so I could eat (and survive) but I think I would grow cats because I wouldn’t want to be alone on Mars. I would officially be the craziest cat lady in space.
