Right, years ago I saw this cartoon like video about a girl that was lonely and took pills to sleep bc in her dreams she met a man that she fell in love with, she kept having to take higher doses over time as she got used to the pills and so on,, you can probably tell where Iām going with this,, OK SO hereās the Reddie version Iāve got in mind:
After the defeat of Pennywise, the Losers leave Derry with heavy hearts after just having lost Eddie. They are all torn apart by the loss and find themselves retreating back to their old ways that donāt really involve each other, besides Bev and Ben who distance themselves together.
Richie is the most affected by Eddieās death, and though he tries so hard to keep himself afloat, he knows heāll end up sinking, it was only a matter of time. He goes weeks barely sleeping a wink, and with shows on the horizon that heād forced himself to set up, he finds himself taking sleeping pills. It starts off harmless enough, his first dream is hazy, distant memories of a boy he once knew. But then, over the next few nights, they become more vivid, to the point where he canāt tell dream from reality. Though really he can, because when heās awake, Eddie isnāt there, but when heās asleep, Eddie welcomes him with open arms and it feels like Eddie never left.
Richieās need to sleep, to be with Eddie, starts to take over his real life. He cancels gigs, interviews, meet ups, just to stay in his own head a while longer. One pill hadnāt been enough after two weeks, then neither was two, nor three, or four. The life heād been living in his head had grown so beautiful, so colourful, so full of life and love, with the man that he never wanted to be without, that his real life had become the complete opposite of anything good and meaningful. Richie knew what would happen if he ever took too many pills, he knew heād never see Eddie again. So he forced himself to take breaks, to eat real food and to go out into the real sun. But without Eddie by his side he couldnāt keep it up for long, it hurt him too much. Before long, he spiralled. He couldnāt stand it anymore. Being awake.
He hadnāt meant to do it in the end. He just wanted to be happy. When he fell asleep that final night, Eddie took his hand and walked him towards something warm and bright.
