hey i dont know if anyone needs to hear this. but if you have an idea for a bnb au that you want to do something with, and its based on a pretty vague concept (like band au, angel/devil, heros/villains, stuff like that) and someones already done something with that concept? Make an au with it anyways. I promise, if your idea came to be on its own, it WILL be different and it WILL be very interesting. BUT you need to think about the au. even if just a little. Just a BIT thought into the dynamics or worldbuilding or plotline or like anything at all ever goes a long way. any type of development you can give the au. It is what makes aus based on the same idea go such different directions. Like as an example, band aus? I can name three thought out band aus off the top of my head and all of them are clearly different from eachother! Because people have thought about how they would play it out and it went different ways. and that is good. And i want to point at Kasper specifically for this, they have very obviously put thought into their band au that makes it more than just "band au ehhehe". its band au but taken in a direction that is very recognizably theirs now. and its so awesome. Love your work Kasper keep it up. If you have a concept that you want to make an AU and you don’t know where to go with it, I've found that just smashing two au ideas together helps a ton. Like generally you have the au ideas that are "what if bnb were this dynamic :3" (enemies to lovers, forbidden romance, fake dating, etc.) and then you have the ones that are "what if bnb in this scenario :3" (cafe au, royalty au, anything where we insert them into another series). When I'm crafting a new au and it just needs more, i like to think about one from each of those categories and then see where i could go with it. That gives you more to chew on as well as just making it more interesting right off the bat. Pointing at fall this time, i think their cowboy au is a wonderful example of this. It's bnb as cowboys, of course, but it also could be considered the friends with benefits trope. both of those could be the basis of an au on their own, but they're layered together! And that makes it easier to latch on to and think about.

You don’t even need to write it or draw it or anything. You don’t have to talk about it even. just ponder. And also don’t feel like every au has to be fully developed, you can have ideas that dont go anywhere, but some of them should go somewhere!! i promise having an au that you've put real thought and care into crafting is really fun and its so awesome to see people do that.
