He gave him a look.  “No… clearly,” he said, gesturing to himself.  “The only place I’m running is away from any imminent danger.  I just think a baseball bat would be fun.”  Chase made a face and resisted the urge to roll his eyes when he was suggested something small.  “Alright, small or not, I’m at least proportionate,” he grumbled.  But he stood up a little straighter, following close behind.  “I don’t know, I think you do a good job,” he smiled, which dropped when he clearly didn’t get what he was saying.  Alright, he didn’t want to outright say it, but he would if it got that drastic.  He’s done worse for less.  “Sounds manly.  You got any concealed weapons, or…?”

                          “ with enough training , i guess it’d be pretty easy to work with . i used to play baseball . long legs , so y’know . pretty easy to run . ”   an idle shrug lifts at his shoulders , before body turns , palms pressing to table’s edge as he settled his weight against it, in turn settling into the conversation.   “ am i not proportionate ? ”   brow quirks  ---  mock offence upon his tongue before it runs over his teeth . perhaps he wasn’t   ...  oblivious . in fact , he’d hold himself as the opposite as chase’s final comment is given . one which earned him a scoff .   “ left boot , waistband . two knives .   ---  are y’ always this forward ? ”

                        digits lift , moving to curl around the back of own neck . an odd scenario for their surroundings, jakub found camp a home  ---  not some city underground club he’d frequent for such an atmosphere . just odd enough , despite awkwardness , his interest piqued to keep the conversation going ,   “ not really a good time for flirtin’ , i don’t think . if it’s y’imminent danger y’lookin’ to run from , i’d tell you to go hide out in your cabin ‘til we can train you up . ”   a pause in speech as hand abandons his own skin in favour for chases , forefinger curling beneath his chin and thumb resting atop , jakub’s own expression just a tad quizzical ,   “ where y’stayin’ ? i can figure you out some kinda schedule when i got free time an’ send it over . ”

Chase paid attention to maybe the first five words that came out of this one’s mouth.  The rest of the time he spent staring.  Partially because he didn’t actually know half of what he was talking about.  It felt like he was picking out elements of an avatar in a video game.  “Is there such a thing as an enchanted baseball bat?” he asked, suddenly.  “That’d be kind of neat.  One that never breaks.  It’d be like hitting a piñata all the time.”  He looked up at the attractive camper with a little smirk.  “And what is your preferred choice of weaponry, Adonis?”

                          “ baseball bat .. ?  d’you play ?   ---  yeah, if you ask a hephaestus kid, there’s this guy, caspian, he might make you one. you might want somethin’ smaller and sharper, though, until you build muscle. ”   he replies with a quiet laugh, hand reaching to trail digits over the weaponry before them . he knew the intricacies of each and every one   ----  was able to surmount bodies with each . minus the bow . fingers stop over an axe before fingers withdraw, settling to his hips,   “ oh , no. ares. i don’t think i’m smooth enough t’be an adonis kid. my dad’s ares.   ---  i use daggers for medium range, since i can throw ‘em far. use a crossbow for a bit longer than that. otherwise it depends on the thing i’m killin’. i work with swords or axes or like   ...  rocks , if they’re around . i guess. ”

      “ Don’t go that way! Don’t go that way! ” With a burst of speed that none of his trainers or instructors had ever seen from him, Asher slammed through the greenery of the forest, dirt and twigs being kicked up beneath his sneaker clad feet. His chest was heaving with every gust of air he took into his lungs but he didn’t dare stop or look back as he heard the monsters behind him roar. He was yelling at demigods around him who were also running in various directions in their confusion– lucky for them Asher was there to shed some light on where they shouldn’t be running. That was until his foot hooked on a tree root sending him slamming chin first into the ground. The taste of iron filled his mouth and he groaned, rolling over onto his back to find that the three monsters that had been chasing after him, had caught up.

                           as soon as he’d noted campers running towards him , he’d sprinted towards whatever perceived danger they’d noted. it was an automatic reaction, born from the heart, honed from riots. still, he’d paced well enough that paired with his stamina, jakub would arrive to see the demigod fall to the ground and yell out. there was no hesitation. he, as fluid as the throw of his daggers  ----  both shot with perfect precision to lodge within minotaur’s eyes. his running does not stop until he reached the beast’s legs and made set to climb. thigh, forearm, shoulder, back. 

                           the beast in all its fury did little to quell jakub’s actions. sword unsheathed, blade dives into the side of its neck, pushing outwards to leave the head half-swinging, the beast dead.     “if you’re hurt, run. if not, take your pick.”   called down as body leaves that of falling corpse   ---   jakub, quickly, turns sight to asher, hand reaching with means for him to take it,   “need a quick decision, bud.”

                       “  ... so i prefer t’use daggers. y’can’t use guns or nothin’ here, so i go t’crossbows for shit with range if i can’t throw one of these guys. ... i keep snappin’ bows.   --- swords are the basic go - to, but is there anythin’ y’think you could work with better? or should we go from the basics up? try y’with everythin’, see what feels good?  ”     he speaks , voice quietly confident as he rattled off questions , daggers in his palms slotting back into the holsters against his thighs . eyes , that were held firmly down to survey the array of displayed weaponry finally lift   ---  expression immediately switching from that of seriousness to friendly invitation ,     “ you good ? ”

     Since the attack the training regiment has shifted among all campers, encouraging more hours and different tactics. One were for the more advances; multiple target drills. Dane found his back against Jakub, while four other campers were on the offense against them. “What are you going on about?” he finally replied, the clanging of bronze drowning out most of what he said but Dane wasn’t well versed in anything the son of Ares was droning on about. Switching positions, Jakub manage to disarm one while leaving the three surrounding them in a triangle formation. 

       “How about less talk and more strategy…hmm?” asking sharply, “I distract and you take them out or?” 

                     “nothin’.”   he’s immediate to quip his conversation to a halt , easy attitude shrivelling into that of concentration. light tone is replaced---  one without emotion, simply barking that of command and confirmation. a huff through the nose, as digits skim from his hip holster to those strapped to his thighs, unsheathing a dagger to each hand and spinning,   “iris, right?   ...  can you do anythin’? if y’can  ...  the guy , with the  ...  the material wrapped around his arm , he’s quick an’ small . i’ll ...”  wrists flick , sending bronze flying, as heels dug into the dust beneath them, embedding metal into opponent’s thigh and another’s shoulder. he thinks nothing of his violence, mere play to what he’d committed to in the past --- no, he knew of the healing here. moment’s pain to remind them to do better. two down, easy targets. second two, however..   

                       “jus’  ...  get him slowed . i’ll get rid of the other one. if he pulls out anythin’ to range, direct ‘im t’me, yeah? thick skin. ”
