Fun Fact 227
Paris syndrome is a temporary psychological disorder sometimes experienced by travellers to Paris as a result of extreme shock from the realisation that Paris is not what travellers expected it to be as it fails to conform to their idealised image. The phenomenon was first noted by a Japanese psychiatrist working in France and the condition is thought to be most prevalent among Japanese tourists. The Japanese embassy even runs a 24-hour help line to assist the 10-20 Japanese tourists every year that suffer from this condition.
