Request: Dinners over FaceTime because he has a away game and the reader is home? W Gavin or Cody
After the day you had, you definitely did not want to make dinner, the only reason you wanted to be in your kitchen, if so you could pour yourself a drink. You looked at the clock and realized you only had half and hour before Gavin was going to call. Gavin was currently in Colorado playing the Rockies, your job made it basically impossible for you to go on road trips, so you were stuck at home, sharing dinner over FaceTime, it really wasn’t as bad as you though it was going to be, but Gavin was punctual, so you had to get something to eat, fast.
You decided on a food truck that was always parked by your shared apartment. They served the best Mexican street food ever. You and Gavin ate it at least once a week, because it was so cheap and so good.
After picking up your food, you made a mad dash home to make it in time for Gavin’s call. You barely make it in the door when you hear the familiar ringer of the FaceTime call.
“Hey Gav.” You say out of breathe.
“Well hello to you too, did you just get home?” He asked.
“Just walked in the door” you said putting you phone up so he could see you.
“I’m sorry, I thought today was your short day.” He said taking a bite of whatever he was eating.
“Yeah, I thought that too, until Emily, decided she didn’t feel like coming in.” You say getting situated and pulling your food from the bag.
“Damn Emily.” He laughed.
“Thats exactly what I said.” You laughed before taking a bite of your taco.
“Aww look and little Gavin and his girlfriend, that’s so cute they’re eating together.” Someone said from behind Gavin.
“Oh shut up Justin.” He laughed.
“Our little Gavin, growing up so quick.” Justin patted his head, causing you to laugh uncontrollably.
“Oh you think my torture is funny.” He said looking at you.
“Yes I do.” You said with a straight face.
“You’re evil.” He laughed taking another bite.
“So what did you get?” You ask.
“Some salad, it’s weird though, it has this random green shit in it.” Gavin said.
“Gavin are you talking about the lettuce?” You ask ready to laugh even hard.
“No, not the lettuce this shit.” He holds up a piece of kale.
“Thats kale, it’s the new thing I guess, especially out here.” You say.
“Well it’s stupid. What did you get, Mexican?” He asked.
“Yep. I really didn’t want to cook tonight or wait very long, so mexican food truck it is.” You say.
“I miss you.” He said pushing his salad aside.
“I miss you too, but you are only gone for two more days and then you come home to me.” You smile.
“I can’t wait, I spend way too much time with these losers.” He said emphasizing the ‘losers’ as someone passed.
“That is incredibly rude Gavin.” Justin replied sarcastically.
“Well, I guess you shouldn’t be rude to me then.” Gavin said back.
“Ugh.” Justin walked away in a huff.
“You guys are too much.” You laugh.
“Too much, is one way to put it.” He laughed.
“Gavin, you have to go, batting practice starts soon.” You said.
“Ope, you’re right. I gotta go, I will call you after the game.” He said.
“I’ll be waiting by the phone.” You say.
“I love you.” He said blowing a kiss.
“I love you too.” Catching the kiss.
“Byeee.” You say waving.
This was your tradition, every single time he went away.

“How are you feeling?” You ask looking at a petrified Cody.
“How am I feeling? Um.. nervous (Y/N), I’m pretty nervous.” He looked at you.
“You’re going to be fine, I love you, which means they will love you.” You assure him.
“Yeah, that didn’t really do anything for me, I am still pretty nervous.” He rubs the back of his neck.
The two of you are currently in an Uber on the way to you childhood home, and in that home is your parents, which Cody has yet to meet.
“Down that road, is my old high school.” You point out the window, thinking talking may get his mind off things, but there is silence on the other end. You can’t help but laugh because of how nervous he is, your family is not a scary being that he should be nervous about, truth is with all the stuff you have been saying to your mom, they already loved him. But you completely understood because you were an absolute nervous wreck when you met his family, and they turned out to be the greatest people.
“Alright you have arrived.” Your driver says.
“Thank you so much!” You say grabbing your backpack.
“Here I will help you with you luggage.” He says popping the truck and getting out.
“Thanks man.” Cody says after the driver gives us our luggage.
“No problem, have great day guys.” The driver says getting back in his car.
“Come on babe.” You say grabbing his hand and pulling him up the drive way and to the porch.
“Do not be nervous, they already love you.” You say looking at him then kissing him on the cheek.
He smiled and you opened your front door.
“Hello?” You yell.
“(Y/N)?” Your mom yells from the kitchen.
“The one and only.” You laugh.
“Oh (Y/N), I’m so happy to see you.” Your mom pulls you in for a hug.
“Mom, this is Cody.” You say as you pull away from the hug.
“Cody, its great to finally meet you. I’ve heard great things.” She said extending her hand.
“I really hope is good things.” Cody laughs, and you see him immediately calm down.
“Oh jeez, is that my daughter?” Your dad says coming down the steps.
“Oh jeez, is that my dad?” You laugh hugging him.
“So this is Cody, nice to meet you.” Your dad extends a hand.
“Nice to meet you too.” Cody shakes his hand.
“I’m really glad (Y/N) found you, from what I hear you treat her how she should be treated, and you take care of her. I really appreciate that/” Your dad says.
“Well sir, I love her and she means everything to me, so thank you for saying that.” Cody smiles.
“Don’t call me sir, call me (Y/D/N).” Your dad smiles.
“Well if you two don’t stop i’m gonna cry so go take you stuff upstairs to your room, I washed the sheets, so everything should be all set. Then come back down because dinner will be ready soon, your dad is grilling.” Your mom says.
“Got it mom.” You said grabbing your suitcase.
“Follow me.” You told Cody.
You two made your way up the stairs and through the hall up to your room, which had not changed since you left for college. The high school level books still on the shelves, the posters on the wall, and the floral bedspread you thought was the prettiest thing.
“So this is it.” You say putting the luggage down.
“Harry Potter? One Direction? Taylor Swift?” Cody laughs.
“Shut up.” You laugh hitting his shoulder.
“And this bright purple floral blanket.” He laughs pointing to the bedspread.
“Shut up, and least I have bedding, you didn’t even have a comforter when I went to your parents house.” You shoot back.
“I grew up in Arizona, there was no need for a comforter.” He defends himself.
“I’ll give you that.” You say.
“Lets get downstairs, I’m starving.” He pats his stomach.
“Fine, but you’re not allowed to make fun of my stuff anymore.” You say.
“Okay, okay, I won’t make fun of your stuff, but old pictures are fair game.” He says.
“That is not how this works.” You say walking out of your room.

“What if I forget the words? What if my voice cracks? What if my pitch is awful? If I throw a horrible pitch, i’m gonna be put on a list with Carly Rae Jepsen and 50 Cent, and I do not want to be on that list.” You were pacing around Corey and your shared bedroom.
“Are you really that worried? You have performed for way bigger crowds than the crowd at Dodger Stadium.” He laughed.
“Yes, I know that, but in the music world, the National Anthem is sacred and if you mess it up, you are basically a joke. I really don’t want that.” You say sitting on the edge of the bed.
“You are not going to forget the words, your voice is not going to crack, you are going to do exactly what you always do and you are going to rock that stadium.” He says pulling you into his chest.
“As for the pitch, I’ve seen you thrown and I don’t have high hopes.” He laughed.
“Asshole.” You say hitting his chest.
“Even if you do mess up, it’s me on the other side of the plate, I will make you look good.” He says kissing your forehead.
“Thanks, but if I look bad, it’s on you.” You say.
The two of you fall asleep, leaving any stress you have in the rearview mirror, well until the morning. When you wake up Corey is already gone.
“Damn morning workouts.” You say to yourself.
Stress does come back as the day goes by, but you stay calm knowing Corey will be right there with you. Arriving at the stadium, you feel the butterflies in your stomach as you are taken in the players entrance and through the halls, and up to where the organist is placed.
“We’ll let you warm up and then we will come get you, we will run you through everything as we walk down to the field.” The woman smiles.
“Awesome! Thank you!” You smile back.
As you start to warm up, Sue, the woman who runs the social media stops by.
“Hey (Y/N), do you mind if I take some videos for our story?” She asks.
“Not at all! Do what you need to do.” You say going back to your warmup.
As you warmup you look down and see the guys taking batting practice, and you nerves start to ease, because you really are just performing in front of a bunch or your friends.
“Knock, Knock. (Y/N) are you ready to get down to the field?” The woman who dropped you here said as she came in.
“Let’s do it, I think I am all warmed up.” You smile.
“Alright you can follow me.” She said.
You follow her out the door and to an elevator.
“We’re gonna give you a mini-tour and then we’ll go through the clubhouse, and out to the dugout. Then you will have about fifteen minutes to mingle with fans and players, after that we will give you the mic and you can do your thing. After the National Anthem, there will be about a five to ten minute gap, and then you will throw out the first pitch, its says you be throwing to Corey Seager, oh, well I could have guessed that.” She laughed
You sometimes forget that everyone who keeps up with pop culture, also is exposed to your love life. You and Corey had gone public a few months ago and you both don’t regret to for a second.
You arrive to the halls leading to the clubhouse, they are riddled with glass case adorned with World Series Trophies, Golden Gloves, and Silver Sluggers. Following the woman she takes you through the clubhouse, the same one that is closed to the public, which almost made you feel as if you weren’t supposed to be there. Then the hallway from the clubhouse to the dugout, you could hear the buzzing from the guys and the stadium alike.
You walked through the dark hall, following the light of the California sun. When you walked out, all you friends greeted you. Cody, Justin, Chris, and Will all wished you luck and followed you out to the field.
“(Y/N), you are going to do great, Corey said you were a little nervous.” Chris said.
“I was last night, but now that I am here, I feel pretty good.” You said.
“Surprise!” Corey said grabbing your shoulder from behind.
“Hey babe!” You said.
“How are you feeling?” He asked.
“I’m feeling really good. I’m ready to go.” You smile.
“(Y/N), are you ready?” The woman asks.
“Let’s do this.” You say looking at Corey.
“You are gonna do great.” He says.
“And to perform our National Anthem, Grammy winning recording artist, (Y/N) (L/N)!”
The crowd goes crazy, and you wave and smile at the camera projecting you on the jumbo-trons.
“Take it away (Y/N)!” The voice booms again.
You take a deep breathe..
“Oh say can you see…”
“That was amazing! Thank you (Y/N)! Now get warmed up for your first pitch!” The voice comes over the stadium, though you can hardly hear it over the crowd.
The woman ushers you over to the pitching mound and hands you the ball.
“Good luck!” She says walking away.
“Now throwing the first pitch, welcome (Y/N) again! She will be pitching to Corey Seager.” The crowd gives an overwhelming “awww”, which you can’t help but laugh.
“I love you.” Corey mouths.
“I love you too.” You mouth back.
You go into your windup, emulating a Clayton Kershaw, and you let it rip. Now it wasn’t the best pitch Dodger Stadium has ever seen, but it made it pretty far before bouncing to the ground, the bouncing to Corey’s glove.
You can’t help but celebrate, by jumping in the air.
“Great pitch (Y/N)!” The voice boomed again.
Corey jogged over to you with a huge smile on his face.
“Alright guys look at me and hold the ball up, I gotta get this online.” Sue said with her camera.
You two posed for the picture and smiled.
“Thanks guys!” Sue said looking up briefly from her camera.
“You did amazing (Y/N), I could not be more proud of you.” Corey kissed you on the cheek.
“I was no Clayton Kershaw, but I did alright.” You laughed.
“Alright (Y/N), we gotta go so this game can start.” The woman said.
“Have a good game, I love you.” You said turning to Corey.
“I love you too.” He said as she ushered you back to the dugout.
You found your way to your seat with your friends right behind the Dodger dugout, and you watched Corey take his team to victory, I would say it was a pretty good night for the both of you.

You loved him, you really loved him, but you hadn’t actually told him yet. For five months, Cody and you had been seeing eachother and it had been five of the best months of your life. Cody was attentive, loving, and respectful, truly everything you wanted and needed in a man, but neither one of you had the confidence to say I love you. Well that was until that game.
Your job only allowed you to get to a few games thus far, and this was one of the few you could get too. The sun was setting in the ravine, which made it really feel like heaven, but this game was nothing but hell for Cody. This was one of his first games back from his stint on the injured list. It really had not been a very good few games for him, you were hoping that maybe you could be a good luck charm, but not so much.
Cody has made one confirmed error, another that probably should be considered an error, and he has struck out every time he has been up. Not a good game at all, yet the Dodgers prevailed and won, with no help from Cody. You waited in your seat for a while, just long enough to let some of the traffic around the player pick up to die down. Finally getting to your car, you still hit traffic going to pick up Cody, because let’s be real, there is nothing but traffic at Dodger Stadium.
By the time you got there, Cody looked as if he was waiting for while.
“I am so sorry Cody, traffic was horrible..”
“Its fine just drive.” You were cut off.
“Alright, do you want some food or do you want to just go home?” You ask turning out of the players pick up.
“Food would be nice.” He said not looking up from his phone.
“What would you like? There is like a million places from here to your house.” You ask.
“(Y/N). I don’t care, just go somewhere.” He said slightly raising his voice.
You stop and pull into a parking spot, in the Dodger Stadium parking lot.
“I watched every minute of the game tonight, I know you did not have the best of nights, but you are acting like a middle schooler that had a bad day at school. I am sorry you had a bad game, I know you are better than that performance tonight, but I love you and I don’t deserve this.” The words just kind of come out, almost like word vomit, it takes both you and Cody a moment to realize what you said. Cody looks you dead in the eye, just as surprised as you are.
“I love you too.” He said.
You smile, and look down.
He pulls you chin up and you two meet in the middle for a kiss.
“I’m glad you said it, because I was way too nervous to say it.” Cody laughs leaning back in his seat.
“I’m glad I said it too, now are you going to stop being a child and pick what you want to eat.” You look at him.
“You really did just ruined that moment.” He laughed.
You just continued to look at him.
“Fine lets just go get tacos. We can go to the place by my house.” Cody says.
“Thank you.” You say pulling out of the parking spot.
“Also a middle schooler? That was pretty harsh.” HE said.

also i do just want to do a quick update, with all these recent updates in the trevor bauer case, i just don’t know if i feel comfortable writing imagines about him. i truly have tried, i just get a very weird feeling. i do believe that this feeling stems from me being a victim of sexual assault. obviously this has not gone to trial, and a person is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. i just do not feel comfortable writing about him. i really am sorry to all the requests that are in my inbox.

yes i did. i think it’s crazy how some dodger fans are reacting. as a victim of sexual assault this isn’t something i really feel should be joked about and i honestly need to do more research on the issue before i form an opinion.
