Does anyone have advice on how to feel more physically machine. I doubt there’s a way to make that happen but dysphoria hurts and I’m desperate.
Conventional wisdom dictates wearing metallic accessories that are noisy as you walk. This conventional wisdom isn't even necessarily wrong: my carabiner is loaded way past any futch or even butch norm and lives on a forward beltloop.¹ Very jangly and this is good for my² gait, which scans very march-like very often, and only more so with time.
To the latter point: wear clothes that grant a shape and a body language with more mechanism about it, as were. Coat, boots, more "canvassy" fabrics³ are good places to start—I was already dailying high-top Converses (and visibly wearing the heel out!!) but when I bought good new boots (Carhartt. I do get kinda dykey with it in this respect and select few others) it brought it right the way home. Not that you couldn't already hear me a mile off given said gait and overloaded chain of keyrings.
From another machinekin to another, with love. ⚙️❤️💚💙
¹ From what I was taught on flagging with a carabiner, putting one more to the middle than to the side of either respective hip flags a switch with whichever respective leaning. Keep guessing~!
² One of the better tells for my headmate not being in front, who is of a species which you may be familiar with but remains unnamed and which cuts a much smoother gait.
³ Hell, consider an excursion into airsoft/mil uniforms! That is, if those don't perchance squick you or those you hang out with.
Tip from a friend!
>one thing i've really enjoyed it [sic] wearing tights under my pants. adds a bit of resistance to moving my legs that feels right in a way i cant place exactly
>we found it accidentally because it was just cold out and i wanted a second layer but the moment i started walking i was like OHHHH
so fuckin right for that
Thank you SO much for all of this, seriously 😭🩶🩶🩶
