Brad wakes up with a jolt and is surprised to see he is in a hospital bed connected to all sorts of wires and tubes. He tries to take them off like they do in movies but they don't come off. He hears a noise and sees Beverly, his boss from the flower shop sitting in the chair next to his bed.
A nurse comes in and smiles at him saying she needs to check his vitals. "Vitals?" He asks confused sitting up. "Can I go home?" The nurse says no and tells him the doctor will be in to see him soon. She asks him some questions, checks his temperature and reflexes as Beverly starts to wake up. She smiles at Brad telling him she was worried about him. "You don't have to worry about me," Brad says feeling bad.
The nurse and moments the doctor enters the room. "Can I go home?" Brad asks the doctor. The doctor says he needs to talk to Brad first. He asks him if he's been having severe headaches and Brad nods his head. "I take Advil but it doesn't work"
The doctor questions Brad some more on his life style and Brad answers the questions. The doctor pulls out something and Brad recognizes it as a Brain scan from Grey's Anatomy. "Cool!" he says. "Is that my brain?" The doctor nods and post to something. "Do you see that?" he asks and Brad nods. The doctor tells him it's a tumor. He explains that is why Brad has been having bad headaches and been feeling tired and his other symptoms.
"Okay." Brad says not sure where the doctor is going with it and looks over at Beverly noticing she is still looking worried. He leans over and gives her hand a squeeze.
The doctor tells Brad he's going to need brain surgery to remove the tumor. He says where the tumor is now they should be able to get all of it safely. "Surgery?" Brad asks sounding scared. The doctor tries to explain the surgery but Brad shakes his head. "No I just want to go home." he says a few tears run down his face. The doctor tells him without the surgery Brad would die. "I just want to go home!" Brad repeats more tears streaming down his face. Beverly tries to calm him down but it's no use.
The doctor tries his best to reassure Brad but it's no use. He keeps crying insisting he want's to go home. Beverly tells the doctor to go and she'll talk to Brad. He nods and leaves.
"I just want to go home." Brad says. Beverly tells him she understands this but the surgery is important. "I don't care, they can't make me have the surgery." He looks away. Beverly tells him to try and rest and she'll be back soon. She talks to a doctor and he says that they do need Brad's consent for the surgery, since he is an adult. She asks if the tumor could be making him act erratic. She explains she is his aunt and asks if there's a way for her to give the consent.......
Brad: Brad frantically gets ready for the Trick r Treating with Tucker. He hadn't been feeling to well today so he took a bunch of Advil. He didn't want anything to ruin his night with Tucker. Tucker had looked so forward to this and he didn't want to ruin it.
Tucker: Outside Bonnie dropped off her little ball of sunshine. "Bye Mom!" Tucker waves as she drives off out of view. Tucker reaches Brad's door and gives a knock. As he waits he rummages through the shopping bag he's toting around making sure all the pieces of his costume are there.
Brad: Brad answers the door in his costume. He tries to think of something clever to say but can't think of anything so he just says "Hey" and invites Tucker inside.
Tucker: "Nightwing." Tucker tips his invisible hat and walk in. "I see you're ready to take the night by storm."
Brad: Brad wonders why Tucker is making weird hand movements but doesn't say anything because he doesn't want to hurt his feelings. "yeah!" he said ignoring the pain in his head. He was going to brave through this for Tucker
Tucker: "I'm gonna put my costume on in the bathroom really quick. And then I'll be ready to take to the night!" Tucker says in his best impersonation of Christian Bale's Batman.
Brad: "Are you okay?" Brad asks worried when he hears Tucker's voice sound weird
Tucker: "I'm just fine because...." Tucker, still talking raspily, swings the door open. "I AM Batman." He flickers the bathroom light to resemble lightning.
Brad: Brad is still confused but doesn't say anything. He goes to the kitchen and gets some water and takes some more Advil. He grabs his trick or treat bag and waits for Tucker
Tucker: Raspily, "Are you ready, partner." Tucker winks and grabs his bag.
Brad: "Do you need a cough drop?" Brad asks as he makes sure he has keys
Tucker: "Cough drops? Never! I laugh in the face of cough drops."
Brad: "Oh, ok," lets go then." Tucker and Brad leave but Brad grabs a couple coughdrops from the kitchen just in case. He locks the door and leaves a bowl of candy on the front porch for anyone coming to his house. They start down the street
Tucker: "I'm glad you were able to get a new costume." Tucker says gleefully with a smile. He realizes he didn't say it in his Batman voice so he clears his throat and repeats himself as Batman.
Brad: Brad is worried about Tucker but he seems in good spirits so maybe his voice isn't hurting him. "Me too," Brad says. "This fits so much better."
Tucker: Tucker looks to Brad and smiles. He admires him so much. He boys make their way to their first house. "Tricks-or-treats!" They say in unison. The old woman gives them each a big piece of candy. "I see you're Batman." she says. "I AM." Tucker replies. "But I don't know who you are." Tucker takes this opportunity to educate the woman. "This is Nightwing. He's my partner in crime. No nono. Not partner parter, like in a gay way. partner in like a duo kind of way." She looks at them funny.
Brad: Brad holds Tucker's hand
Brad: "Thank you for the candy," Brad said remembering his manners
Tucker: The woman shuts the door. "I think I ruined that."
Brad: "Ruined what?" Brad asks confused. "Come on, lets go to the next house."
Tucker: *Brad leads the way to the next house with Tucker in tow, still holding hands. "Maybe I should let you do the talking at this one."
Brad: "Talking?" Brad asks confused. "We just say Trick or Treat silly!" Brad rings the doorbell. The guy answers the door and shouts Boo and is wearing a Freddy Kruger costume. Brad jumps and screams. Then laughs. "Good costume, Mr Smith. You really scared me." He and Tucker hold there bags out and Say Trick or Treat. "Is that you Bradley?" Mr Smith asks and Brad nods his head. "Good costumes boys."
Tucker: "Thank you. Happy Halloween." Tucker says as Batman. The guy gives them each another piece of candy for their politeness. "Wow two pieces! We should hit up this house again!"
Brad: "Mr. Smith is cool. He and his wife take me to the ball games something. I don't really understand them though. But I pretend too so I don't embarrass them." They go to the next house
Tucker: Tucker shrugs. "Well whatever gets you a free ball game." They skip the next house because the porch light is off. Tucker admires all the other costumes as they pass by, taking notes of things he could be for next year.
Brad: BRad enjoys the majoirty of the costumes except the scary ones. Whenever he sees a scary one, he moves closer to Tucker and grabs ahold of his hand. The pain in his head is worseing by the minute but Brad ignores it as they go from house to house for the next hour.
Tucker: "Are you okay? You keep scrunching your face."
Brad: "I'm fine," Brad lies. "Do you want to get a few more houses?"
Tucker: "You know, what? I think my bag's pretty full." Tucker shakes it. "We can hit a couple on the way back, though."
Brad: "Okay," brad said relived as they walk back to his house. He shivers a little in the cold. They get a couple more houses then arrive back at Brad's place. He checks his candy bowl and sees there is still some left there so he leaves it there in case he gets some more Trick or Treaters.
Tucker: "Slow night at your end. Lazy kids don't even know they're missing out on candy."Tucker shakes his head and follow Brad inside.
Brad: Brad takes his mask off. "Why don't you pick out a movie?" He goes to the kitchen and gets himself some water. He's feeling very hot and drinks it all and then gets himself some more. He feels like his head is going to explode.
Tucker: Okay. I'm gonna keep my costume on though, if you don't mind. I like being Batman." He rifles through Brad's DVD collection. What about Hercules? I haven't seen that one in a long time. Does it sound good to you?
Brad: "Yeah" Brad mumbles feeling funny. He drops his glass of water and it crashes to the ground breaking. Brad blinks his eyes a few times before falling to the floor and seizing
Tucker: "Okay, well I'll go ahead and pop it in." He turns the tv on and sets the DVD up. He gets ready to sit on the couch when he hears a crash. He hovers, bent over the couch. "Brad?"
Brad: Brad is laying on the kitchen floor having a seizure. He starts foaming at the mouth and is unable to speak
Tucker: "Brad?" He walks into the kitchen once Brad doesn't respond. He takes his mask off to make sure he's seeing things correctly. "Oh my God! Brad!!" Tucker kneels down beside his friend. He grabs his shaking hand, but he can't calm it.
Brad: Brad is unresponsive
Tucker: Tucker tries to hold it together as best as he can. He says a frantic prayer in his head for his fallen friend as he begins to cry. "Brad! Brad stop playing!" He lets the hand go and stands. He keeps his watery eye on Brad as he searches for the phone.
Brad: Brad stops breathing
Tucker: Tucker knocks everything around on the counter, but he manages to find the phone. "Brad, I got it :') " He says with a crackle of hope as he instinctively calls home for his mom. Panicked he asks her what to do. She tells him to call the paramedics and that she's on her way over. Moments later Tucker is on the phone relaying Brad's condition to them.
Brad: Brad lays there motionless
Tucker: As the boys wait for the police and Bonnie, Tucker sits on the floor. He grabs Brad and hoists his limp body up against him, his back to Tucker's chest. He opens Brad's mouth and tries uses Brad's shirt to get the foam out of it. (all the while crying). The paramedics make it to Brad's house first. They find Tucker rocking Brad back and forth on the floor, trying to keep his matted hair off of his face. "I don't--I don't know what's wrong." He manages to spit out.
Brad: As the paramedics examine and resuscitate Brad they ask Tucker if they know if Brad is elliptical or has any allergies. They also ask if they had been doing drugs
Tucker: Tucker sniffles. "No, we just went trick-or-treating. That's all. About a week ago he had a really bad headache. It induced vomiting, but he wasn't unconscious or foaming for it." He breaks again and a few tears run down his cheek.
Brad: The paramedics get Brad breathing again and put an oxygen mask on his face. They ask Tucker if he knows where Brad's family is so they can call and get his medical history. They put him on a gurney
Tucker: "He lives alone. He's never mentioned parents or anything before." The medics remove Brad's costume and throw it aside so he'd left with his underclothes on. Tucker picks up Brad's costume and follows them to the door. The lead paramedic tells Tucker he isn't allowed to come with them. Tucker nods and stares out the open door as the ambulance drives off. He wipes the tears off his cheek and clutches to Brad's discarded costume. The scene fades as Tucker stares, only the menu screen of Hercules can be heard playing softly in the background.
Brad: Brad takes a deep breath as he knocks on the door to Tucker's home. He holds the flowers behind his back. He hopes Tucker's mom will like them and that she will let them hang out.
Tucker: In his bedroom Tucker sits and reads. He thinks he hears a knock on the door out front, but it's really hard to tell from his room. He tries to focus on his book, but his mother's quick walk passed his door keeps his attention. He gets off his bed and presses his ear to the door.
Brad: Brad feels nervous. He hopes Tucker's mom likes him. When she opens the door he puts a big smile on his face and introduces himself.
Tucker: He wonders if it's Brad or the neighbor. Tucker hopes it's Brad here to work his magic. ... if he has any. He always seems so nervous about interacting with people that--- well, Tucker hopes he just says the right things. So far he can only hear muffled speech.
Brad: Brad presents the flowers to Tucker's mom with great flourish. He explains how he was really sick and Tucker brought him soup and made sure he was sleeping on his side so he didn't die by choking on his own vomit.
Tucker: Tucker can't make out anything clearly. He cracks the door open slightly. It creaks and he cringes. He needed to invest in some WD40 or whatever it was called. He listens.
Brad: Brad and Tucker's mom continue to chat for awhile then Tucker is called downstairs
Brad: Brad and Tucker's mom make out
Tucker: surprised Tucker walks in and sees bradly and his mom lip-embraced. :'o "how-- how could you!" He runs away to his room. "You just don't understand!" He cant get the vision of Brad's enormous boner tenting his pants out of his mind,
Brad: I LOVE YOU BOTH!
Tucker: You're supposed to love ME! I'm sorry, okay?! Im trying to get over the fear that I love a guy so then we can have sex all the time. Hot sex. But i didn't think you'd take your sexual frustrations out on my MOM!
Brad: I don't want to have sex! I'm scared i just want to make out!
Tucker: Oh. Okay well then hop on my bed smile
Brad: Brad thinks it's weird but hops on over to Tucker's bed
Tucker: They make out. Both erect.
Tucker: Bonnie walks in, shotgun in hand. She shoots the boys. They die, clutching each other's hands. "No one is gonna pervert my little boy." Bonnie says before taking a puff of her lit cigar. She exits the room, closing the door behind her, and extinguishing any light that remains.
Brad: Brad wakes up from his weird dream. HE makes a note to not make out with Tucker's mom. He arrives at the place and knocks on the door. WHen Tucker's mom answers he hands her the flowers. He talks with her explaining how Tucker helped him. It was easy to do since he dreamed it already. He just didn't make out with her this time. After discussing matters a little bit further she calls Tucker downstairs
Tucker: "Yes mother!" Tucker opens the door, it creaks. He makes his way to the living room. "Oh. Bradley." He says with fake surprise. "What are you doing here?"
Brad: "We're going Trick or Treating!" Brad said proudly. "Uh tomorrow that is"
Tucker: Tucker looks at Bonnie with a hopeful look. "It's okay?"
"Of course." Bonnie pulls Tucker in and gives him a hug. "Brad told me all about what you did, and Honey, that was very noble of you. I can't be mad for that. So consider yourself off the hook as of tomorrow. You should thank your friend. He's very charming."
Tucker: Tucker looks passed his mom and smiles at Brad. He mouths 'Thank you' to him.
Brad: Brad smiles proudly and is glad he had that weird dream so he would know not to make out with Tucker's mom.
Tucker: "So... mom. Does this mean he can't stay for dinner?" Tucker sees his mom's face shift as she tries to think of kind words to say. In his heart he knew the answer was going to be no, so instead of having her say it, Tucker thought quickly. "Oh. Wait. We have that, uhm, church... thing to go to.... don't we?"
Brad: "Oh you have somewhere to be?" Brad says feeling bad for keeping them. "I'll get going, I don't want you to be late for church." Brad smiles. "I'll see you tomorrow though
Tucker: Bonnie gives her regards and leaves the room. Tucker waits til she's gone to walk up to Brad. "Thanks again. You're such a great friend. I really appreciate it." He gives Brad a quick kiss on the cheek.
Brad: Brad blushes. "You're a great friend too, the best I ever had"
Tucker: Tucker smiles dopily. "Hey maybe I can convince my mom to let me stay over after trick-or-treating! ..if you're okay with that?"
Brad: "Yeah, I'd really like that. I like having you sleep over"
Tucker: "Same! And we can have some Batman-Nightwing action!" He laughs. As it fades he hears Bonnie clear her throat. "Well... I need to get going."
Brad: "I"ll see you tomorrow." Brad says goodbye to Tucker's mom then leaves in a good mood
Tucker Tucker waves Brad off and closes the door. He walks back into the kitchen where Bonnie now awaits, seated at the table. "Sorry I lied," he says, "He's sensitive about rejection. I could tell from your face you didn't want him to stay...."
"Oh sweetie," she replies back, "it's not that I don't want him here. You're just still grounded until tomorrow." Bonnie gets up and takes her soup to eat in a different room. She's frustrated that Tucker may know she's somewhat uncomfortable around Brad. When he asks later to stay over at Brad's she agrees. 'As long as he's not over here.' she thinks to herself.
