Just got done drawing Frankie.
I tried drawing digital on my moms iPad, I finally found a good drawing app
"Hello reagents. If you want us to let you out, you have to *title screen* Outlast the Trials"
Apropos of trans visibility day this past week, here’s my trans rights octokitten that’s been sitting around in my camera roll for octokitten saturday #5!
More progress!
thanks to those who stopped by during stream while I worked today
”This portrayal of a marginalized group was wrong then and is wrong now” and “This portrayal of a marginalized group was very progressive for the time period and paved the way for more representation while likely limited by factors outside of the creator’s control” are two statements that can and should ABSOLUTELY coexist and be kept in mind when interacting with older media
even more towa shenanigans in regards of my recent tomodachi updates
And if you wanna to see, eccentrialities
I'll be grotesque before your eyes
Let them all materialize 🎃
(Halloween season means time for a horror babes meeting!)
you're NOT a bad person if you can't read, if you are illiterate in some way, or if your reading comprehension isn't that great
THAT is not why literacy is important
Literacy is important because without it, you are much easier to lie to
it is so much easier to make you believe something that isn't true because you do not possess the ability to find other information--much of it written, but not all
you *need* to be able to discern and understand what is happening, because there are people who want to do things to hurt you or others without your knowledge
assessing and analyzing that classical book that uses metaphor and talks about how people in power will stop at nothing to remain in power, an opinion piece in the newspaper explaining why everyone should just calm down about fascism, a political skit on SNL, whatever, is actually incredibly important so that you know what people are saying and doing right in front of you
many civilizations throughout history have lived and died over their people allowing something horrific to happen right under their noses
and *this* is why governments that are corrupt and leaders who want to operate without oversight *always* restrict education and journalism and media--they all require literacy to engage with, and cutting down on what people are *allowed* to think about is the number one way fascists try to control a people
you are not bad for not being literate
but please do not cheerlead further ignorance and revel in your lack of ability to parse information
we fight for freedom for all--and an essential part of that is literacy

(I will probably redraw this in future)
Recently, my art has been much more of a test; I've been trying out and studying new painting methods, discovering what I like and what I don't... evaluating other artists who inspire me and trying to understand "what attracts me to this work? Is it the colors? The painting?" (as was the case in my attempts to paint like Horikoshi).
Perhaps for my next attempts, I'll use more flat colors, with less rendering, I love simple things.
