We were tasked to create our own logo for our personal brand identity. I wanted to incorporate a pencil and some nature as they are key elements of who I am and how I design. I began with rough sketches as always. I chose to go with the Pencil tree and decided on a simple name; GREEN PENCIL. Easy enough to understand. The initial design looked a little odd after I took it into the vectoring stage, especially odd in B&W. So I change the tree top to a rounded design and found it much more visually pleasing. I found the pointed end misleading off into the top left corner. I’m not set of the type choice of Nueva Std. but it works for now.

This Design began with a simple quick sketch of an idea. I then took an an image into Adobe Photoshop and played around with over layering text that wrapped the shape of America’s leader. I exported a PNG of the best result and dragged it over to Indesign where I configured the layout. I enjoy working on slightly propaganda-ish projects about public icons and political leaders. This was a fun project to do and although it pushes a lot of typographic boundaries I think it works as a mag cover.

Threadless Horror Movie Poster T-shirt Design challenge.

I had a lot of fun working on this project in between assignments. Felt good to have some creative flow that wasn’t being assessed. Although it will be scored by the threadless Community, there’s not the same pressure to excel. Could use that $1K Prize though.

Fingers crossed, Hope they like my design.

(Side note; I made a typo in my post description when submitting on Threadless.com and do not know how or if I can Edit it now :/ )

Calendar Project ‘LeadUp’

Began with sketches and writing ideas down on paper. Once I found a direction I searched for images and constructed mockups with Ps to build what I envisioned. After receiving constructive feed back I began digitally painting the base image to build upon. From there I repeated and added new features and tweaked previous ones to construct the 12 months.

Step 1: get image of owl from pinterest then transfer to Ps

Step 2: edit Image threshold to create two tones black and white.

Step 3: Colour white in blue and eyes orange

Step 4: Add text (gill sans condensed for main type and Lucida Fax for Slogan) and create logo at bottom.

Calendar Project. “WINDOWS OF OPPORTUNITY”

Concept: My Calendar Features 12 depictions of the same window which looks out upon an old tree. With each month passing variables in the depiction change in sequence to events, special dates, and seasons of the month it represents. Items resembling events in each month are displayed on the shelves, weather and environmental changes are shown in the yard, and important dates are written on the chalkboard on the right. The main focus of the concept is watching time pass by through the window with the opportunity to take part in the events that occur in the duration of 2019. All images were created in Photoshop digitally painted. The Mood of this design is intended to be used by a family or in a home as it contains a Homely feel in the design style of ‘painted’. The execution is a Top-down design and intended to be a spiral bound centre, this is left to interpretation due to production costs and timing. By Brandon Lowe C3304851

Studio Project 2, Creating Grids layouts using InDesign.

The first Design was targeted at a Web-based Article format - I ended up choosing this Design for the mock up as it has an interesting use of space.

The Second design I focussed towards a possible Calendar grid layout.

Third was purely experimental, might be used for a newspaper spread with long thin columns that stretch across the page with a unique coverage of the page. However, I was unsure how well it would read without breaks in the columns.

The Last two were roughs of the vertical layout that I decided not to use.

Geometric shape Portraits created in Illustrator using shape tools. Portraying Trump and Gump.

I found photos of the two equally intelligent figures found in google images ( https://www.businessinsider.com.au/donald-trump-richest-us-president-in-history-2017-1?r=UK&IR=T & https://www.huffingtonpost.com.au/entry/forrest-gump-cast_n_5566919 ) then took them into Photoshop to start identify the shapes I could use to build them in Illustrator.
