Buttermilk Chess Pie
So I don't usually put out my recipes for things and it's purely out of being slightly lazy and forgetful. It is most certainly NOT because I don't want to share my magic food spells with all of you loyal weirdos. What I am about to show you is my not very famous, but pie contest entering buttermilk chess pie recipe. The recipe will ONLY include the filling, for a crust recipe just use the internet, you nimrods. I hope you enjoy making this and tasting the magic that truly spills out of every slice of chess pie.
Ingredients
1 1/4 cups white sugar
1 Tbs cornmeal
2 Tbs AP Flour
Pinch of salt
1/2 cup melted butter
1/2 cup buttermilk
4 eggs
Juice and zest from one orange
1/4 cup honey (I prefer orange blossom)
Okay so let's get this going by fully assuming you're the best around and already have a pie crust set up and ready to go in a pie plate, GREAT JOB! First things first let's get that oven preheating at 350, perfect, you're the best. Now onto pie stuff, what you're going to want to do first is melt that butter, once you've got that going take all of your dry ingredients (the dry guys) and whisk them all together in a big bowl. Time to take that melty butter, buttermilk, and vanilla and mix all that junk into the dry stuff. Get your eggs all nice and whisked and add your orange juice and zest to the eggs and then get all three of those baddies into your big mixture. Here comes the big finale, take all that pie junk and pour it into the crust! Easy squeezy, now throw that into the oven (don't throw it) and bake it for like 30-35 minutes until it's gold and beautiful and slightly browned and only has a little jiggle to it. Then once it cools shove it down your gob!
Hope all of you guys enjoyed this recipe and the most beautiful, wonderful, awe-inspiring, magical drawing that my wizarding girlfriend has created for this delightfully sweet treat! You can find all her stuff at deefstopia ! If you guys enjoyed this recipe let me know and I'll do more! Well, my granola is about to burn so I gotta run, love you!

okay so I broke down and made something with pumpkin, I was really gonna try not to do any pumpkin this year, but who was I kidding? what we have here is a delightfully spiced pecan pumpkin loaf. it's beautiful and the pecans look like tiny little jewels in the mighty loaf. it's got a perfectly warm taste from all the spices and it isn't too sweet. AND it made our apartment smell like a spiced enchanted forest in the middle of autumn, which is nice now that we live in Los Angeles and seasons no longer exist. as always I only wish you could all taste this wonderful baked good with me.

I hope you're in the market for things that taste really great, because what I have for you right here are some maple butterscotch blondies topped with cinnamon sugar. The maple comes straight from Little Canada (not a real place) and the butterscotch chips came straight from the hands of a butterscotch mine miner (this is a real thing probably) and the the idea of adding beautiful cinnamon sugar came straight from my heart. These guys are really super ooey gooey and wonderful, they have a nice warm feel and the cinnamon sugar addition reminds me of a churro. The blast of sugar you get from eating these will help you ready yourself for whatever adventure you have planned.

Hello all, it is with a most heavy heart I come to tell you I did not win a beautiful ribbon at this past Sunday's pie contest. BUT ALAS, do not weep for me because this loss has only made my baking heart stronger. I will come back next year with a most furious vengeance and a most beautiful and delicious pie.
But there is also another beautiful picture of one of the pies I submitted to the pie contest, its beauty alone should leave you all wondering about why and how a wizard like me could lose such a battle. This is another buttermilk chess pie, I used some lovely oranges in this one and it really brightened up the pie. A taste of sunshine if I can say so myself.

hello friend and magical forest creatures that have learned to read and use the internet! check out this practice pie I made for a pie contest I'm entering this Sunday! what we have in front of us is a buttermilk chess pie, a rich and creamy treat hailing from America's beautiful and often times terrifying south. I'll post more pie updates and hopefully a ribbon this weekend and to my competitors, I wish you all nothing but luck, but I plan on trampling all of you and bathing in the blood of your weak ass pies.

forged from the dark jagged cliffs of Pretzel Mountain, and bathed by the blood red moon come these cupcakes. these dangerous looking treats are dark chocolate Guinness cupcakes with a peanut butter frosting and then jammed with fresh Pretzel Mountain pretzel rods. do you dare to try them? do you think your weak peasant mouth can handle these? i’m sure you’ll be fine, don’t worry. they’re on the internet only so it’s not like you can even try, weakling.

This is something I’ve never tried before! While reading the summer issue of Lucky Peach I came across an article about Christina Tosi visiting Hawaii. In the article there was a recipe for something called butter mochi. Now, usually I know mochi as a Japanese dessert, but this stuff is a Hawaiian dish. The main ingredients in this are sweet rice flour (or mochiko powder), coconut milk, butter, and evaporated milk. I also added some lime zest because lime is wonderful.
I really didn’t know what to expect with this when I tried it, but it’s pretty wonderful and unlike anything I’ve tried or made before. The texture is chewy and ricey and awesome. It’s like this rad combination of rice pudding and a blondie. I really can’t wait to experiment with it some more and add more ingredients.

dang, I almost forgot about these. I need to start working with rice flour again and make more butter mochi.
these are pretty little vegan rosemary chocolate chip cookies. this is a really fantastic and beautiful and surprising marriage of flavors. the rosemary really makes these great and the flax seeds in them give them a wonderful, chewy texture. these are best eaten in the woods at twilight under an ancient and wise tree.

hey, so I made some pretty little root beer float donuts. they’re a root beer cake donut with a root beer glaze and a scoop of vanilla bean frosting on top. now, I really hate root beer but these came out really majestic and cool.

so it’s summertime now, summertime needs blueberry pies so I made one. I harnessed the power of the summer solstice moon to make this pie wonderful.
