(+) Loyal, Playful, Straightforward
(-) Cantankerous, Overprotective, Ruthless
Brant is exactly what you would expect of Kol Svansson’s younger brother. While he didn’t experience as much in his human life as Kol did, you will still find the same tenacity in the younger Svansson. Brant is self-possessed and will do what it takes to make sure he lives a full and happy life. And while he isn’t as bloodthirsty as his brother is, he also isn’t the kind of guy you’d want to cuddle up to and spend a romantic evening with.
Brant has the capability to be a good man, but very few see that, and even fewer get to actually experience the playful and loving man underneath the Viking exterior he keeps up. Those that he does care about, however, will never find a more loyal and protective man. It isn’t easy to get into the heart of this twelve hundred year old, but once you do, he will defend you at cost of life and limb. That quality was something he never imagined would ever actually come in handy to him, until he met his current companions.
No one thought that Brant would live long. Born premature to the parents who’d only had one other son nine years previous and a long string of miscarried children, everyone was surprised he was born, let alone that he lived past a year old, and then every year after that. By the time Kol was old enough to go off to protect the village, Brant was just old enough to be able to take care of things around the house. All in all, considering his young age, Brant did well of stepping up as the man of the house once the elder men were out of the village.
He even thought that he would be the first Svansson son to marry and have children. Mother and Father had pressed for Kol to do so, but he refused to give up being the leader of the army to settle down. So when the day came for Kol and the men to all return to town only for no one to show up that day or in the months after, they knew that something horrible had happened. And approximately three months after that day, the village was raided. Brant did his best to get his mother and the girl he’d been to take as a wife out of town, but it was to no avail, as he took a sword to the gut and began to bleed out. The last thing he remembered seeing was the screaming faces of his mother and betrothed.
The next thing he remembers is waking up to complete darkness. He was buried; how was he alive? Clawing his way out of the earth with a strength he didn’t know he had, Brant emerged into the moonlight to the company of his betrothed, Gisela. Terrified by the way that he could hear and smell every pulse of her blood, Brant initially withdrew from her. He was unsure of exactly what he was, but he was sure that he would hurt her if he wasn’t careful. He listened hazily as she explained that a vampire had saved her, but had been too late to save his mother. Gisela had then begged the vampire to save Brant, and to Brant’s luck, they agreed. But had refused to stay.
Brant ran off after she’d told her story, going back through the woods until he got back to his village. There was nothing left. Everything had been burned to the ground, and (much to his shame) he went around and drained every dead body of whatever blood they hadn’t already bled onto the ground. By the time he’d finished, Gisela had found her way back to the village and took a seat beside him on the ground. Despite the fact that they’d never said their vows, they decided that they were married in their own eyes, and that was what mattered.
The next night, despite being only one day old as a vampire, he followed Gisela’s description of what had been done to him, and he turned her. the next night, they emerged and began what they thought would be eternity together. The power of being a vampire quickly went to both of their heads and they ended up parting ways. He never thought he would see her again. And for a long, long time… He didn’t.
He lived his life. He murdered some people, learned better control, and then… about five years ago, he met and fell absolutely in puppy love with a curly headed blonde witch. It only took seconds upon meeting her for Brant to know he’d follow her to the ends of the earth. It didn’t hurt that she had a pretty brunette vampire companion. From that point on, Brant was glued to Val.
It would just so happen that being glued to Val would lead them to meet Kai Merlyn, who Gisela was being a guardian for. Brant had no idea just how much he’d be seeing of his former “wife”. Especially after going to Oxford with Val, only to find that Kai and his vampire companion would show up only two months after they’d arrived in town.
