266. Kenneth Scott /// Scott House /// North Ridge, Accra, Ghana /// 1961
OfHouses guest curated by Benedict Clouette & Marlisa Wise (Interval-Projects): âScott was born in Australia and emigrated to England with his family as a child. He first arrived in the British Gold Coast as a lieutenant in the British army during the Second World War. After the war, he returned to England to finish his studies, but left England for the Gold Coast in 1949 as an architect with the colonial public works. He soon entered into private practice, forming a partnership with James Cubitt as the Gold Coast affiliate of Cubittâs firm, which held offices in several British colonies. Scott finished this house for himself and his family shortly after Ghanaâs independence, and went on to design dozens of government, educational, and institutional buildings in Ghana.â (Photos: Š Peter Tolkin & Mabel O.
