He frowned, noting her indecision. Could it really be possible that she, too, knew what this was? For the same reason he asked her to be careful, she was asking him to put it away and use something else. On one hand, he was grateful for her supposed understanding. But on the other hand, this was the thing that held the most value to him, and also definitely belonged to someone else.
"Very well, stranger."
His options were limited, but he respected her wishes. He placed the soul gem back into his bag and continued in his search to find something she can use to aid in his journey home,
"Sheesh, jus' call me Carol, dude." She placed a hand at her hip, her foot tapping on the ground rather impatiently.
...Though, as she waited, the tapping became slowly faded away, her eyes looking away from the human. Her mind becoming enveloped with the ever-so-interesting question.
Curiosity overwhelmed. Stones, she just couldn't help it, could she?
"Uh... where'd ya find that, anyway? If, y'know," she shrugs, still trying to seem cool and aloof, like usual, "Ya dun't mind tellin' me an' all. We did jus' meet, after all."
"So you do know..."
That was all the confirmation he really needed to know. This wild cat knew strife, and quite possibly loss as well. Is this why she seemed to harsh? If so, then an apology may be in order, but he stowed that thought away for now.
Out of his bag, next was the broken blade of his friend Agrias. He had been meaning to get it repaired, but with all of the things going on, he was simply too busy to return it to her.
At her question, he paused and let out a soft sigh, "There was... A war back home. An invasion that took the lives of many innocent. My brother was.... one of the casualties. He fought hard to the bitter end, Lady Carol."
"I never saw someone so broken before. Those monsters."
His voice quivered at that.
