ARCLADY.
the guardians trigger an escalation protocol outside, and it makes efrideet wonder if she ever thought to seal this place. one stray bullet could screw up her entire operation here on mars. guardians were immortal, but tech? tech could get blown up rather easily. the iron lord watches her, watches her excuses. which, to be fair are valid reasons but they seem to be excuses to efrideet all the same. ana bray is nothing if not dedicated, the guardian would never lie to herself: she still has issues with rasputin. ❛ don’t forget though, when the collapse happened rasputin did nothing. he let people die. ❜
the abrupt switch in topic stalls her thoughts entirely. “don’t forget?” she echoes as her brain scrambles to attach itself to the new subject at hand, swinging up out of left field as though she needs reminding exactly what and who rasputin is—what he’s done. maybe she shouldn’t be so immediately defensive, but it’s hard to stamp the need to explain golden age directives down. and really, of anyone efrideet has a right to be angry, but her anger is perhaps misdirected. “are you here to lecture me about the past? because i know what happened and i know what i’m doing, now.”
say what you will about bungie but i fucking love them for putting gay shit in their game just because. feels good, feels organic
To be honest, I’m probably more attracted to a well written computer code than other human beings.

ARCLADY.
ice and ghosts of a civilization long lost covers this planet like a blanket with the warmind the vanguard’s leader was afraid of as the being tucked in tightly. what would that make ana bray? the parent reading to their child? it’s irrelevant, really. she’s a link, and an old friend. a friend before siva, back when the iron lords were real. when they fought for the city. when they were more than just relics referenced in the iron banner. there is a moment that here, in the bray facility that the bladedancer would sneak up on an old friend, but she’s seen her knifework. efrideet doesn’t feel like getting stabbed today, so, she merely leans against one of the large windows. ❛ you don’t ever stop working, do you? ❜ // @brayesian: sc.
the plaza is never quiet. there are steps she could take and half-assed programs she could encode to create some sort of sound dampener but there’s something about the noise that creates an air of immediacy that hums in her veins like fire. they need this now. they need rasputin now. sure, there are measures in place to keep any especially endeavouring souls out of the futurescape compound, hive and cabal alike, but it means she’s grown complacent—downright comfortable—up out of the fight and she’s almost not prepared for the voice. bad guardian. she can hear zavala’s lecture already, even as her head turns to meet the owner.
“i do!” if there’s a faint note of hysteria in her voice she won’t admit it; it’s gone the next she speaks, anyway. “sometimes. when there’s not stuff to do. which isn’t right now, so if you want to be pedantic then no. it’s not my fault!”
i’m sitting here trying to figure out how much muscle memory a guardian retains from their past life. it’s probably not a common thing, but considering the work ana did prior to the collapse how much is just instinctive based on her history and how much of her work did she have to relearn from the ground up? how much more does she know now that she’s had literal centuries to build and hone this skill? or how much has the loss of a lot of humanity’s history affected that, considering it’s been boiled down to the last city and some camps?
I know I’m late to the whole Ana Bae moment but please accept this contribution anyways
Guardians aren’t supposed to investigate their past.
