DONA FLOR E SEUS DOIS MARIDOS — 1976, dir. Bruno Barreto
"Never again his lips, his tongue... Never again his mouth burning with raw onion."
Once upon a time, in a tropical island far away, there lived a strange woman […] she was caught in a giant spider web that grew out of her own body. One day a shipwrecked man drifted onto the beach. She fed him and cared for his wounds. She nourished him with love and brought him back to life. When he awoke, he gazed up at the spider woman and saw a perfect tear drop slide from under her mask.
Kiss of the Spider Woman 1985, dir. Héctor Babenco
I've always had a woman's body. Now, I just shape it.

I'm trying to understand your desire to go so far away. I think it's natural, especially at your age, to want to see other places, meet new people, make other friends. I think it's normal, but I also think it's very natural to fight with your parents. I was like that, too, but it's too extreme to leave the country to run away from the fights.

==> DOCE AMIANTO (2013) dir. Uirá dos Reis & Guto Parente Amianto lives isolated in her own fantasy world, inhabited by her delusions and unbridled hope, where her ingenuity and her melancholy coexist hand in hand. After feeling abandoned by her love (The Boy), Amianto finds shelter in the presence of her dead friend, Blanche, that will protect her against her pain - at least as far as she can. Her inner universe collides with the reality of a world that does not accept her, a world to which she doesn’t belong and that invariably she comes back with her playful delusions, mixing reality and fantasy. With the help of her Fairy Godmother, Amianto gathers strength to continue living in the hope of being happy someday.
