Chapter 9
Chan pulls out, laying next to you on the blanket.
“That was… wonderful,” you breathe, curling into his side. His arm goes around you, stroking your arm gently.
“You’re beautiful,” he murmurs and you blush before kissing his shoulder.
“You know we’re gonna have sand in some gnarly places.”
Chan chuckles and nods.
“Just gives me another excuse to touch you naked.” He smirks and kisses the top of your head.
“Come on, let's wash off the ocean real quick.”
He helps you with your swimsuit and puts his trunks on- thank goodness for an abandoned beach. You both go chest deep in the water, washing out the sand from the obvious places before toweling off and heading back to the car.
The silence is comfortable, the air between you shifting from tense or unknown, to now being intimate, warm and cozy. As Chan drives back home, his hand rests on your thigh, his thumb circling on your skin.
Everything has changed now, and it's a silent understanding.
-
At home, Chan takes your hand, leads you inside, but instead of going back to the bedroom you were in, he takes you to his room. It’s dark, the bed is the focal point of the room with the air smelling lightly of bourbon. You let him lead you to the ensuite bathroom. It's similar to the bedroom, moody, dark but in a way that isn’t overbearing but inviting of something intimate and close. The spray of the water fills the silent bathroom. His fingers brush your skin as he undresses you, and then himself.
The warm water hits you as you step in, his body heat warm behind you. He grabs the shampoo bottle and squirts the liquid into his palm. His fingers work through your hair, gently scrubbing your scalp, and working through the strands. He helps you wash it out before repeating his actions with the conditioner, gently combing it through the ends of your hair.
He grabs the bodywash and loofa, moving it in circles on your body once the soap is on it. The dirt, sweat and sand slowly washes away, the soap leaving your skin smelling and feeling clean and fresh. This is the gentlest he’s ever touched you.
For a moment, Chan rests his forehead on the back of your neck. The water cascades over you, the moment isn’t awkward, it's right. For the first time in both your lives, something feels utterly and completely right.
You turn to face him and his skin is rough under your hands. He leans into your touch before his lips are pressed into your palm.
“You're so precious to me,” he whispers just barely audible over the stream of water. Your cheeks heat slightly, not due to the water. You grab the shampoo bottle, squirting the liquid into your hand and scratching lightly at his scalp and running it through his hair.
The shampoo is washed from his hair carefully, your fingers gentle as the comb through it. You repeat with the conditioner, making sure to evenly coat his hair before letting it sit.
You take a cloth and apply the body wash, lathering it up before gently pressing it against his skin, both of you in a world of your own in the tiled shower.
-
The water cuts off, Chan steps out first and helps you onto the rug before grabbing a towel, gently drying off your skin. He tends to himself with another towel, wrapping it around his waist. He grabs a pair of his boxers, and a muscle tank top for you to put on.
He pulls you toward the vanity, the room is silent, making each movement seem loud, but it doesn’t bother either of you. He grabs a brush, gently pulling it through your hair, detangling it. He pulls out the hair dryer and, methodically, starts drying your hair. Its loud in the room, and in the mirror, the scene you see staring back at you is strangely domestic. It's soft. It’s something you didn’t even realize you were needing or craving.
It’s someone who cares.
Emotions well up in your chest as Chan keeps his focus on your hair, taking his time. Treating you as if you’re a masterpiece in a museum. Your breathing starts to become slightly more shallow, your eyes prick with tears. Chan looks up when he sees your shoulders stutter. He cuts off the dryer and looks at you through the mirror.
“Dragonfly.. What’s wrong?” He whispers in your ear. A soft smile reaches your lips before you look down, tears falling down your cheek.
“Hey…” he whispers and turns you towards him, “Baby, talk to me.” It's told to you like a command, but his voice is soft, pleading. A soft sniffle echos in the once again silent bathroom and you shake your head slightly.
“No one’s ever… taken care of me like that,” there’s a brief pause before you inhale, “The way you touched me, I know it might seem silly-”
“No, baby, no.” he whispers and presses his forehead to yours for a brief moment before his lips find the tip of your nose.
“It’s not silly, you deserve to be taken care of. And I know I haven’t done it right, but that changes now. I can be gentle, I can be kind. I can be the man you deserve.”
He’s not trying to convince you, you know that. He’s trying to convince himself.
“I have business to attend to tomorrow. I want you to spend the day doing whatever you want. You can hang out at the house, you can go out, but security will be with you” his tone brokers no negotiation, “For your safety.”
“I just want to make you happy and make you feel loved, y/n,” he whispers desperately. Your arms find their way around his neck, your face tucking against his neck. His arms wrap around your waist, holding you close, like he’s holding you together. And in a way, he is.
“You do,” you whisper against his skin. His arms tighten for only a second before they loosen again. He’s not pulling away. He wouldn’t dare.
“I love you, Dragonfly.”
“I know,” you whisper and press a kiss to his cheek, then to the corner of his mouth before finally finding his lips.

Chapter 8
“What,” at that moment it doesn’t even sound like your voice. You should be thrilled. You just tried to escape hours ago. He’s offering you freedom, and you can tell by the look in his eyes he’s willing to do it. The silence between you stretches as your head screams at you.
Run! Get out! He’s dangerous!
But your heart screams something else.
Stay! He’s safe! You’re safe!
“Y/n?” he asks quietly.
“No,” you whisper softly, “I don’t wanna go anywhere.”
Another tense silence, despite the sound of the water.
“Don’t say that unless you mean it… I won’t offer you this again,” he says firmly. But you can see the look in his eyes, he’s silently begging you not to take it back. For a split second, consider taking it back, looking back towards where the cars are parked, but something in you just won’t let you.
“I mean it,” you say, mind made up, “I don’t wanna go anywhere.”
Before you know what’s happening his lips are on yours, soft but firm. Like he’s pouring every ounce of passion and feeling into the kiss, but also giving you the option to pull away. For a moment, you let him kiss you, your lips motionless against his as your heart pounds and your mind screams about your sanity. But you push it away. Slowly your hands raise up, brushing his cheek as you begin to kiss him back.
Your fingers tangle in his hair, your body presses closer to his and your lips move in sync. He tastes like whiskey, mint and something else that you can’t quite place, but it's warm, comforting even. He pulls away first.
“You’re mine now, totally and completely. Do you understand me?” His voice is husky, protective, a far cry for the captor you knew just a little while ago. It should be unsettling. But it only makes your insides light up.
You nod before your foreheads rest together. The sun is lower in the sky now, almost gone, but the world has practically disappeared. Until a wave crashes and a bit of the water mists onto your face, leaving little specs of water on your skin.
“Want to go swimming?” He smiles charmingly.
You smile at the tenderness in his voice.
“Come with me,” you mumble and he smiles. It's genuine, beautiful and bright, even in the fading sun. He stands and helps you up. You bolt, sand flying up behind your feet as you race into the warm water.
“Hey!” He yells after you, but you keep going.
The salt water is pleasant against your skin, the sand squishy as your feet slightly sink into it with each step. You get about waist deep when two strong arms encircle you.
A surprised shriek leaves your lips before you feel his lips against your ears.
“Trying to run away from me again?” There’s no heat behind his words, only a soft teasing tone, his body warm against yours as the waves roll around you. You giggle at his question.
“What if I was?”
“Then I’ll just have to punish you,” he slaps your thigh under the water, but it barely lands.
“Then what are you gonna do? Rile me up? Hmm?” You laugh a little louder as you squirm in his arms, finally spinning around.
“You’re beautiful,” he whispers as his eyes gaze into yours deep and real. His sincerity cuts through the playfulness for a moment. You blush and wrap your arms around his neck.
“I’m never letting you go, Dragonfly.” He says, lips almost brushing yours. He says it like a vow, a promise.
The rest of the afternoon is spent swimming, splashing and just playing in the water. It’s the most carefree you’ve been in your entire life.
-
The sun has gone down, the moon high and bright, stars littering the sky above. Chan lays beside you on the blanket, an arm behind his head. He has a small, giddy grin on his face.
“This has probably been the best afternoon of my life,” he admits quietly. You sigh happily and scoot closer, resting your head on his chest.
“I don’t think I’ve ever felt more free than right now,” you say softly. For a minute the two of you watch the sky, the crash of the waves a soft white noise, the smell of the salt water in the air.
“I don’t see how that is… you’re a Hwang… figured your life would be great. Freeing. Your family is one of the wealthiest around.”
You scoff, rolling your eyes.
“Maybe, but I’ve never experienced those perks. By the time I was 12 my parents shipped me off to some boarding school for girls in Morocco. It was an experience to say the least. I came back home the day after I graduated.”
“That explains why it took so long for the world to know about you.” He says now putting the pieces together.
“Yeah, my family used to say I was the best kept secret. Why? Who knows,” you take a pause, "But Hyunjin used to tell me it was for my ‘protection.’ Something about keeping me safe. But in reality, I think there’s more to it.”
“What do you mean?” His voice is cautious. Not pushy, not demanding.
“I don’t know… it’s just a gut feeling I have. My parents always treated Hyunjin better. Though no one would ever admit it to me. For example, when we were kids. If I wanted something, like a new doll, but Hyunjin wanted a new video game or even an action figure or something, he always got it… If I got something I wanted, it was a special occasion, and it always made out to be a big deal.” Your eyes roll as if you can hear your mother right beside you.
“And god forbid I ever complained. It was always, ‘you should be thankful you have anything at all’. I never got to have opinions. Sometimes I think they sent me away just to get rid of me,” your index finger absentmindedly drags over his chest.
“I tried to talk to Hyunjin about it, but he always brushed it off. Even when I was in a whole other country, and when he didn’t screen my calls, he would tell me I’m being sensitive. Make me feel crazy.” You sigh as you look over the waves.
“Wow… its amazing we knew the same person and yet, we knew two different people.”
“You know, when I came home, no one could be bothered to pick me up from the airport. I had to take a cab and when I got home, the house was empty. Apparently our parents had taken a vacation and Hyunjin only found out I was home after I called him multiple times. He didn’t even come home that night. Mind you, I hadn’t physically seen him in years.”
You inch closer, resting your head higher on his chest, Chan meanwhile is frowning and shaking his head slightly. Neither of you speaks for a while, simply watching the waves and stars as you sit together, the atmosphere shifting to something even more close and intimate. His fingers gently glide over the back of your arm as his heartbeat thuds in your ear, easy and natural.
For a while, it's comfortably silent.
-
“Chan?” You say quietly.
“Hmm?”
You sit up, your heart beating increasing as you look down at him. His hand moves to cup your cheek. Slowly you lean down, hesitating for only a fraction of a second, noses brushing before you kiss him. It's soft, testing at first. His tongue tentatively darts out over your lips, letting you pull back if you so desire to.
You don’t. Your mouth opens, his tongue sliding against yours as the kiss deepens. A soft groan leaves him, and the sound goes straight to your core, causing your legs to rub together. A sigh leaves your nose as he leans up, forcing you to back up some until he’s hovering over you on the blanket underneath you.
A whimper leaves your mouth as his fingers dig into your hips, lips pressing harder and faster against your mouth.
“Chan-” you whisper and his hand moves to cup your breast, thumb brushing over the peaked bud, rubbing slow circles. A gasp leaves your mouth and Chan’s mouth smiles against yours.
“So responsive,” he coo’s. He unties the top off your swimsuit and peels it off, exposing your chest to the cool night air.
“Fuck,” he breathes as he openly stares at you.
“So pretty,” he whispers in your ear, before sucking a mark just below it. His thumbs continue making circles, causing small jolts of pleasure to shoot to your core.
“To think… you were giving this away for a few measly dollars.” He growls, referencing your job before he took you.
“Never again,” he sinks his teeth into your neck and you groan. He soothes the mark with his tongue.
“Who’s the only one that gets to see you like this now?”
“You,” it comes out breathily.
“Good girl,” he praises and it forces your hips to buck up against him. He chuckles, pressing his hips against yours, grinding. His lips trail down your neck, past your collar bone, to the curve of your breast before taking one in his mouth, hot and wet, tongue swirling and flicking over your sensitive peaks.
He sucks gently before letting one go with a slight pop before lavishing the other with the same attention. His eyes watch as your lips part, and back arches slightly into him, fingers combing through his hair. He hums softly,
He continues to remove your swimsuit and trails his mouth down your torso, looking up at you before going further.
“Please,” he whispers just loud enough and in that moment, something powerful surges in you. A soft smirk finds its way upon your lips.
“What? I didn’t hear you.”
You can see him fighting a smirk.
“Dragonfly,” he says, slightly dramatic, slightly whiny, “Please,” he draws the word out, eyes wider, almost boyish in an innocent kind of way, “Let me taste you,” he says against your lower stomach, looking up through his lashes.
You let out a soft chuckle, a surge of power flooding you as you nod with a smirk. The man who’s held all the power this whole time, is now begging you for the privilege. Its intoxicating. He settles between your legs, nose skimming over your core, inhaling. An animalistic growl leaves him before he spreads you open, tongue flattening against you, his eyes holding yours.
A soft whimper falls from your lips as his tongue brushes you. Your body lays flat against the blanket, as Chan repeats his actions, slowly, savoring you. He moans into you, the vibrations making you gasp. The muscles in his back flex as he dips his head down.
Your fingers thread through his hair, damp from the ocean water.
“Chan,” you breathe, hips rolling into his mouth, fingers now gripping his hair. He groans at the way his name sounds on your lips, hooking his arms around your thighs, holding you against him, his tongue working your clit like a madman before it dips down inside, curling upwards.
His nose brushes it as he gets slightly sloppy, practically drunk on your taste, your noises, you. Soft whimpers escape him as he sinks his tongue into your hole. You cry out as he thrusts his tongue in and out.
The movements are so good, too good even. Your hips roll despite his bruising hold on your thighs. He circles his tongue on your clit, teasing, then going straight at it.
Your body starts to tighten, that beautiful pressure building in your stomach, and he hears it. Hears how your breathing deepens, sees how your stomach muscles tighten, and he immediately pulls back, causing you to whine. He blows a cool stream of air against you and you hiss, arching your back.
He goes back slow, deep, like he’s not just getting you off, but making love with his mouth, his tongue a weapon of devotion. He builds it once more, teasing before giving you exactly what he knows you want, moving his tongue at lightning speed as he sinks two fingers into you, curling upwards.
He moans desperately, his own hips rutting against the sand. You can’t even form words now, pleasure overtaking your brain. He sucks your clit into his mouth, gently flicking it before letting go and repeating it again.
“Come on baby, let me have it,” he says, voice dark and deep, “I want it, all of it,” White hot pleasure burns before it explodes, your juices coating his face and fingers, and he groans like he’s gotten his own release.
Your chest rises up and down as you catch your breath while he rests his cheek against the inner part of your thigh, looking up at you as though you hung the moon. He places soft kisses to your inner thigh; it’s worshipful, loving, soft and sweet.
“Still with me, babe?” He asks and you nod. Your fingers find his arm and you tug him up towards you weakly. His lips find yours, his tongue pushing past your lips, letting you taste yourself slightly on him. Your fingers tug on the ends of his hair as he pulls his swim trunks down just enough to free himself.
Your leg is hiked and put around his waist, letting him open you up. He presses against you, hot and warm with precum beading up at the tip.
“So beautiful,” he whispers as he pushes in, both of you groaning.
“Fuck,” he whimpers in your ear, “So tight.” He allows you a moment to adjust before he starts moving, deep and slow. His mouth leaves open mouthed kisses down your throat, sucking marks every so often. The stars above are beautiful, illuminating the dark sky, when suddenly you cry out when he hits that certain spot that makes you see your own stars.
“Chan,” your voice breaks on his name. You can feel him smirk against your skin and pick up the pace.
“You feel like heaven, taking me so well,” he whispers the praise into your ear. His breathing is labored in your ear, his body hot against yours, skin slightly reddened from the sun. Soft moans and whimpers fall from you as he sucks more marks onto your neck.
“Chan- fuck,” you gasp as he starts to piston into the little spot right inside your entrance, euphoria taking over.
“That’s my good girl,” he praises, voice low and gravelly in your ear. The waves crash against the shore as your walls start to flutter around him, causing him to groan in your ear, his arms supporting him on either side of you. You feel that familiar tightening in your stomach, and your breathing comes in short gasps, encouraging him to continue until a scream rips from your throat. Your nails drag down his back, and he hisses at the pain- pleasure before a low growl tears out of him in your ear as he fills you up.
Your breaths fan each other’s faces; your bodies are slick with sweat, and a little bit of the misted ocean water. For a moment you say nothing, staring into each others eyes as reality settles between you.
“Fuck,” he breathes before kissing you softly, “You’re amazing,” he whispers.
“So are you.”
The smile on your face does something to Chan, it warms his chest in a way he never thought anyone could, let alone the sister of his enemy.

Chapter 7
“I know it doesn’t mean much, but I swear, I will never lay another finger on you again.” he whispers in your ear. He presses a light kiss to your cheek.
“Y/n, I mean it,” he says quietly and you nod slowly.
“Can I just go back to my room then?” You whisper, voice still unsure. He hesitates. Chan wants to show you he’s serious. He smiles before pulling his face up to look at you.
“What if we went out? I know a secluded part at the beach. Just us. As long as you don’t run again.”
You look at him and you can see the genuineness in his eyes, he does want to make up for scaring you. But you’re still cautious.
“I don’t have a bathing suit.”
“Then we’ll just have to fix that,” he smirks and presses a soft kiss to your jaw.
-
The boutique is beautiful, swimsuits of all kinds, coverups and even sandals. It’s got a coastal theme, whites, blues and tans with wood accents. The woman at the cash register smiles at Chan as you walk inside.
“Go ahead baby, get whatever you want.” He whispers in your ear, a rare smile that reaches his eyes shows up on his face. Chan has found that doing this for you makes him feel good. It makes him want to spoil you more.
To keep you.
You find a suit that’s entirely your style, but you pick up two different colors looking between them with furrowed brows.
“What is it, Dragonfly?”
“I don’t know which one.” An adorable frown presents itself on your face as you look between them again and again.
“So get both.”
Your head snaps up with raised brows, “Really?”
He nods with a soft smile, “Let’s get you some sandals too.”
He’s walking over to the sandals before you can utter another word. He picks out multiple pairs, showing them to you, letting you pick out the ones you want.
The woman at the cash register comes over.
“Oh these are very popular!” She smiles at Chan, not giving you a second glance as her hand caresses his arm. You arch a brow, a twinge of anger rising in you.
Chan plays nice and has her hold the suits and shoes at the counter.
“So, Chan, you never got back to me about the dinner plans I mentioned weeks ago.” Her voice is a little strained. You pick out a couple beach towels from a rack, having heard her voice before coming back over.
“Right, dinner. I’m a busy man-”
“I understand,” she interrupts, “I’m patient. What about Saturday night?” She smiles at you as she starts to ring up your things.
“You’re having dinner with her? Chan, that's so sweet,” you say sarcastically, “Charity work is always important,” your give her a plastic smile as she does her job. Meanwhile the woman’s face turns red as Chan suppresses a laugh. She rings up the items and Chan just places his black card on the counter. She runs the card and hands you your bags, suddenly extremely quiet.
“Thank you, please come again.” Her confidence is now lower, her tone more shy, professional.
“Thank you,” you smile bright and proud. The two of you walk out of the store and you feel a surge of confidence. The bags are put in the trunk of the car before you get in.
The drive to the beach starts off slow, neither of you speaking while the radio plays just barely cutting off the silence.
“Jealousy is an… interesting color on you,” you can hear the smirk in his voice and when you look over, his index finger is over his lips, concealing it as he leans his elbow on the car door.
“Jealousy?” You keep your voice innocent.
“My ‘charity work’, I believe you called it.” His brow raises but he doesn’t take his eyes off the road as he turns into a parking lot. Without another word he gets out, holds up one of the suits and sandals.
“Go ahead and change. I’ll meet you back here.” He directs you to a changing station and you change into the swim suit. When you come back you nearly let your jaw drop.
His abs are on full display, he’s more ripped than previously thought. He’s wearing swim trunks and grabbing the beach towels, and a large blanket. He turns to see you and he pauses, eyes trailing your form.
“Fuck,” he breathes as you approach. You blush and look down, slightly embarrassed.
“I can change…”
“Don’t you dare,” he says, voice dripping with arousal, but he doesn’t push anything. Just shuts the trunk and guides you down to a secluded little area, just above where the ocean reaches.
“It’s gorgeous out here,” you say as you watch the sun lower in the sky, painting the scene around you in an orangey pink.
“Yeah, this place has been a bit a sanctuary for me. Especially at night,” he says with a sense of longing.
“Sophia brought me to a beach once... it was one of the best days of my life," he comments softly.
A silence befalls you two as the sounds of the ocean create a white noise in the background.
“My whole life I’ve been alone, y/n. Sophia was the only one who ever made me feel like I wasn’t. And then she introduced me to your brother… When I found out he was spared, I was thankful, because I knew I lost a sister… but at least I hadn’t lost a brother. Or so I thought. Then he left and I… I was convinced I was once again alone.” The whole time he speaks his gaze is on the ocean waters, glittering in the fading sun.
“Chan, I’m so sorry…” you trail off and put a hand on his shoulder blade. Being alone was something you understood quite well. This man was supposed to be a monster. Dangerous. And yet all you see is someone broken.
“I’m here,” you offered quietly. He nods with a half smile.
“Yeah, you almost weren’t though, thanks to my temper…” he looks down before facing you, “Y/n… my sweet Dragonfly, I am so sorry,” he whispers, a hand on your cheek.
“I never meant to scare you, I swear I’ll never lay another hand on you again,” he repeats genuinely. For a moment he looks at you, something in his eyes that’s genuine, but you can’t tell what it is.
“In fact… to prove it, you can leave…” he says quietly and drops his hand, heat fleeing from your cheek.
“What..?”
“I’ll let you walk away right now, drive you anywhere you want to go. Just tell me now.”

Chapter 6
Two weeks. Nothing but the same bed, the same room, the same barred windows. No time outside, the only sunshine you’ve had has been from the sun rays that come through the barred windows. Food was delivered by an old woman in a maids outfit.
You tried banging on the door the first few days. Finally after 3 days Chan answered. But what happened wasn’t pretty. He came in, and you didn’t recognize him. He was brutal. Words were harsh, when you tried to speak, accidentally interrupting him, you had to pick yourself up off the floor. You crawled to the corner but he didn’t relent. His grip on your hair… your scalp hurt for 2 days.
“Chan, stop! Please!” Your scream was full of terror. It echoed in the room and it was at that moment reality seemed to slam in, his eyes went from terror to horror as he looked at the redness blooming on your cheek.
He let go of your hair, offering no comfort and no words. He walked out, and you hadn’t seen him since. You had no idea what had happened or what you had done. He offered no explanation.
You pace the floor, days start to blur together as you sleep on and off at random times. Some out of just pure emotional exhaustion, some out of boredom. You were trapped; with no way out.
Until now.
You knew what you were doing could cost you your life. But at this point, you didn’t care. There was no sign of Hyunjin coming to save you. Chan had become violent. You couldn’t live like this- it wasn’t even living, it was just existing.
That afternoon, the woman in a maid outfit brings your dinner, and as she sets the tray down, you bolt out the door, knocking her into the wall, quickly going down the steps. The mansion is huge, still impersonal.
As you get closer to the door you hear voices in the living room. Familiar voices… one from the party. Minho. Your heart thunders in your ears, your legs are jelly, and holding your breath seems like the best option.
“So what are you gonna do about your little pet?” You hear one of them say.
“She’s not your concern.”
“Have you even contacted Hyunjin about her yet? Or are you enjoying her more than you expected?” Minho’s voice is taunting as he chimes in.
“Shut up,” he playfully snaps and the guys erupt into soft laughter.
“I don’t blame you, I’d keep her locked away too.” Someone else chimes in, but you don’t recognize the voice. Though you can hear their smirk.
You get down on your hands and knees, crawling quickly, luckily avoiding the gazes of the other men as Chan sits on the couch with his back to you. As you're crawling behind the couch, you hear glass shatter to the floor and a shadow hangs over you.
“Keep. Talking. About her and I will make sure you regret it.” His voice growls.
“Ji-yoo! Come clean this up!” Your heartrate skyrockets. You can’t hide and getting to the front door without being seen isn’t possible. You’re screwed.
So you decide to bolt.
You rise to your feet, everything in your vision blurring except for the door. You manage to get your hand on the knob and throw the door open when two strong arms close around your waist.
“Where. The fuck. Are you going?” He asks in your ear, voice smooth as silk and poisonous as venom. His voice is too calm and deep in your ear.
“I..” your voice breaks, tension bleeds all around you. Time stops.
“Chan-” your voice cracks as you whisper his name.
“I will give you one chance. Get your ass upstairs. Now,” he growls the last word and you hate to admit it, but it makes you quiver in a way that has nothing to do with fear.
“Okay…” you whisper, conceding. He growls in your ear one time, and your stomach tenses. Slowly he lets you go and directs you back up the steps, shielding you from the men in the living room.
“Damn, you keep your dog on a short leash.” One of the men calls out. Chan stops you and turns towards a man with fox-like eyes.
“Meeting adjourned. Get the fuck out of my house. NOW!” He yells and you’ve honestly never seen 5 men move so fast. His authority makes something in you stir. Jiyoo, the woman in the maid outfit, walks in and he gives her a look. She backs away leaving you alone.
He watches as they leave, the door shutting behind them and then he turns back to you.
“So, Dragonfly, you thought running was a good idea?” He doesn’t wait for you to answer. He changes course and takes you to the couch, throwing you down on it. A soft yelp leaves your lips as he pushes you down and straddles your waist.
“You thought you could leave me? That I would just let you go? Is that it?”
You can’t answer; you don’t know how to appease him. You don’t know how to fix it.
“Where were you going to go?”
“I don’t-I don’t know.”
He leans down, his nose skimming your neck.
“Oh come on, Dragonfly, you must’ve had a plan. Tell me,” he whispers in your ear.
“I was… I was just.. Gonna go.”
“Where, baby,” his voice is huskier now, his teeth grazing your neck. It makes your pulse race.
“I don’t know. I hadn’t thought that far,” you whimper softly. You can feel him smile against your neck.
“Not very smart, now was it? Hmm?” He taunts.
“Chan-”
“Stop talking.” He places a kiss on your neck, making your stomach knot. He can feel the way you tense, and he pauses before he rests his forehead on your shoulder.
“I scared you.. Bad…” he says quietly.
“I’m sorry, Dragonfly. I really am. I should’ve controlled my temper better...”
You let out a stuttered breath in response. He squeezes his eyes shut.
“Fuck,” he breathes, “Tell me what I can do to fix it,” he says, his voice now desperate. A far cry from the man who hurt you a couple weeks ago. You don’t respond immediately. Can it be fixed?

Chapter 5
When you awake the next morning, the sun bathes the room in a golden glow, but you don’t feel his heat, his presence, beside you anymore. For a minute you don’t move, you can feel it in your bones. Something is off.
You force your head to crane and in the chair at the desk sits Chan, his back to you, shoulders square in a dark top. You aren’t sure what time he got out of bed, or what he’s even doing. Part of you wonders if he’ll turn around with another needle like he had the first night. Your breathing is shallow, and you start to wonder if he even realizes you’re awake.
“You fucked this up,” he says quietly. Your heart pounds in your ears and a sick feeling floods your body. What is he talking about?
“This was supposed to be simple. I take you… bait your brother to save you, and get my revenge and now… now it’s a mess and you fucked it up for me.” He finally turns to face you. He has bags under his eyes, like he didn’t sleep well.
“I… how? What did I do?” You ask quietly, not wanting to anger him. He’s been better to you than you anticipated, you don’t want to ruin that now.
“I’ve been watching you for a long time, Dragonfly. Years… when I heard the Hwang family had their very own little princess,” he pauses and chuckles dark- or maybe it’s bitter- “I knew it was the perfect plan.”
“What plan? Why was there a plan?”
“Like you don’t know.” His voice goes deep, accusing and dark. His eyes squint slightly and his hands grip the arm rest of the chair.
Danger! Danger! Your brain screams.
Appease him! But how do you appease a man who gets angry at you and won’t tell you what you did wrong.
“Chan, help me understand what happened.”
He’s up in a flash, his hand around your throat, not squeezing, but a reminder of his strength- his power. It sends a thrill through you that you don’t want to acknowledge.
“Sophia. Bang.” is all he says, and you can tell his teeth are clenched.
“I don’t know who that is,” you whisper genuinely, eyes wide.
“She was my sister,” he seethes and his hand drops from your throat.
“What happened?”
“You really don’t know…” It’s both a question and a statement.
You shake your head in response.
“Sophia was like my mother, despite our year age gap… our mom was so busy helping our dad with the empire neither of them had time. She took care of me, as best she could. Meals, rides to school, help with homework. She taught me how to shoot a gun. Hell, she gave me my first beer,” he chuckles at the memory, a nostalgic look on his face; one of longing and grief.
“She was all I had. And your family took her from me…” he trails off.
“Chan-”
“Don’t interrupt me!” He snaps but when he sees you jump he softens his face and his voice.
“I’m sorry,” he sighs, “She was at a stop light… It was a drive by.”
“How do you know it was my family?”
“Because your brother was conveniently with her that night and he was spared. Hyunjin did it, I know he did… somehow. He conveniently disappeared after that and didn’t come back for at least a year.” His voice is final; his tone dark. Your stomach knots violently. You never knew Hyunjin to be that kind of ruthless. Of course you knew your family had illegal dealings, it was something you desperately wanted to get away from, and despite them hiding you, you were always under their thumb.
“From that day on, I swore revenge. And now… now it’s fucking ruined because of you!” He shouts in frustration and once again you jump back. He sighs and paces the room.
“Tell me how I can fix it, then..” It wasn’t that you wanted to fix it for him, you just didn’t want things to escalate. That’s what you tell yourself anyway.
“When I saw you in that club,” he sighs with a half groan in frustration, “Gah I knew I had to have you. Then the party last night… you’re making this hard, Dragonfly… harder than it fucking should be.” His face is unreadable. And he avoids your statement.
He leaves the room, slamming the door and locking you in once more. But something in the air feels different now.
“Chan..?” You hesitantly call out. Nothing.
“Chan!!” Your voice strains as you yell. Your legs swing over the side of the bed and you bang on the door, yelling his name multiple times.
No answer comes. No footsteps.
-
Downstairs, Chan paces in his office. He can hear you, but he ignores it. He’s staring at a picture of him and his sister at the beach. He remembers the day like it was yesterday.
He remembered how his parents promised a beach day so many times to both of them and the day his sister got her license, she surprised him with a trip to one.
He was so excited, the nerves in his stomach were all twisty. The ocean breeze was cool against his skin, the sand was hot and the water warm. They made sandcastles, she buried him in the sand and vice versa. He even remembers the snow cone she bought him at this cute little shack. She over tipped the old man who was kind enough to not charge full price for his.
Then the day ended with a walk down the pier, how happy she looked to be able to give him that special day. To give him any shred of a life that wasn’t about the ‘family business’. It was one of the only days he can remember where all day, he felt at peace.
Sophia had a way of doing that for Chan. She burdened the family drama, as much as she could at least, so he didn’t have to at a young age. She was the reason Chan knew Hyunjin in the first place.
He remembers the day he and your brother met. It was rainy, Sophia had convinced Chan she found him a friend that understood him. And Hyunjin did… better than anybody.
Perhaps that’s why the end of his sister hurt so bad. Did he have hardcore proof that Hyunjin did it? No. But it was the only logic that made sense to him. It drew a line in their relationship forever.
And now he has you. He pulls out his phone looking at the pictures of you he took your first night when you were passed out and half dressed. He told you he sent the pictures. In reality, he lied. He hadn’t sent anything to Hyunjin. He planned to. But he never could hit send. In a sick way, he felt like they were his little treasures. Something vulnerable. He didn’t want to share.
But he knows he has to lure Hyunjin somehow. He just isn’t ready to do it yet.

Chapter 4
The car ride home is silent, tense in anticipation. Chan’s hands grip the steering wheel, his knuckles white. The radio is off, the lights and buildings whizz by as he speeds through the city.
“Did… did I do something wrong..?” Your voice is soft, hesitant.
He doesn’t answer, he doesn’t even look at you. His jaw only feathers. You press your lips into a thin line. Had you actually done something wrong? Was he angry? Was he not? You couldn’t read him. You only knew, whatever he felt, it was strong.
-
He pulls into the driveway and turns off the engine. He gets out and goes around, opening your door. His grip on your arm is unrelenting and it causes you to hiss. His eyes flash to yours, dark, silently telling you to be quiet.
He pulls you into the mansion, past the few servants left cleaning, and up the steps, but he doesn’t take you to your door, instead it’s to a new one.
He pushes the door open and shoves you inside, closing the door behind him. You hear the lock click, and he presses against the door for a moment.
“What did I do-”
“Stop talking.” His voice is tense, restrained, low as he faces the door. Seconds feel like hours as you stand there, waiting, the fur from the tail whispering against your bare legs.
“Get on the bed.” There’s no room for protest. You don’t listen; you walk up to him.
“Chan-” His hand goes up around your throat, not squeezing, but he could. He could easily crush your windpipe, but he’s holding himself back.
“You shouldn’t have done that.. Kissing me like that..” he shakes his head as he trails off.
“I- he was starring- I thought I was doing what you wanted-” he backs you against the wall as you fumble over your words.
“Y/n,” his tone is warning. You shut your mouth, eyes big and doe like. How do you appease him now?
His forehead comes to rest on yours, his hand going back around you throat, warmth seeping into your skin from him.
“You have no clue as to why you’re here… do you..?”
“No,” you whisper. He sighs but instead of explaining he crushes his lips against yours, hand resting around your throat, the other against the wall by your head. You kiss him back, a little sloppy, a little nervous, and a little too eager.
“God you’re just too fucking perfect,” he growls against your lips.
“Get your ass on the bed. Hands and knees,” he demands now. When you don’t move immediately, he wraps the leash around his hand and walks backwards pulling you with him, your legs stumbling as you’re forced to follow. He bends you over the bed, hiking your dress up. His hand rubs over your bare cheek, staring at the tail, nestled in. One hand braces on your lower back.
“Breathe in,” he says gently. You do so when you feel a gentle tug at the tail.
“And out,” he says as he gently tugs it from you. The sudden emptiness is strange after being filled for so long. Your forehead goes to the bed, the plug dropping to the floor with a dull thud.
He unhooks the leash, takes off the ears, but the collar, he leaves.
Silence once again stretches between you, before a sudden smack is heard and heat blooms on your cheek. You jump, crying out softly in surprise.
“Chan what-” another one interrupts you.
One more. Two more. Three more. Heat rises to the surface of your cheeks as he alternates. Asking questions now feels like the wrong move. His hand rubs over each one, helping the sting.
He bends over your back, his lips at your ear.
“Stand up.” You do so, dress bunched, your lack of underwear exposing you completely.
“Pull your dress down.”
You obey without hesitation.
“If you ever kiss me like that again.. I am not responsible for what happens.” His tone is dark, warning. It excites you in a way it logically shouldn’t; it makes you want to poke the bear.
He takes your hand and walks you down the hall, pushing you into your bedroom, locking the door leaving you in utter silence. No instructions, no kind of plan, no clothes.
Nothing.
-
Late that night, you’re asleep, until you feel a weight dip the king size mattress behind you. You freeze as you feel an arm go around your middle. He doesn’t speak, but you can smell him, he’s showered, fresh cologne, something woodsy.
Heat radiates from his body, and you aren’t sure what to do. Do you speak and risk some kind of punishment? Do you lay here and pretend to be asleep? How do you placate the monster who’s taken you from your life, cut off everyone, and humiliated you?
Silence stretches as you lay there, heart hammering.
“Go back to sleep,” are the only words you hear and they send a shiver down your spine. He’s not threatening, he’s not commanding, it’s like a sleepy plea. His voice- it’s almost soft, like a young boy. His thumbs rubs tiny circles over your stomach.
You force yourself to relax, the man wants you to sleep. So you do.
But as you drift off, you find yourself wondering, is he really a monster? Or is he just complicated?

Chapter 3
You come to, tucked into the bed, the sun streaming in through the barred windows. Your mouth tastes awful, your body feels sluggish and your movements are heavy.
The smell of pancakes hits your nose and you turn your head to see a stack on the bedside table, with a glass of orange juice and syrup. Your body seems to be twice as heavy as you move. The room spins for a minute.
You set the tray on the bed, eating a few bites. The lock on the door clicks and it swings open. You freeze seeing Chan.
“You’re awake, good. How do you feel?”
“...Sluggish.” you answer hesitantly.
“Yeah that’s an unfortunate side effect.” His eyes lock onto your bra clad chest, a soft smile on his face. You look down and your eyes widen.
“You.. you didn’t…” your voice comes out scared, horrified even.
He doesn’t answer. He only grins smugly. He watches the panic rise within you with sharp amusement.
“Relax, Dragonfly. If I had, you’d know. Trust me. Besides, I’m a monster… but I’m not inhumane. If I was gonna do that, you’d be awake to witness it.”
“Then where are my clothes?”
“In the dirty clothes.”
“Why?!”
He walks over, taking the tray and sitting it on the bedside table, your gaze doesn’t break but he crawls on the bed hovering over you.
“Watch. Your. Tone.” He warns. Your breathing gets heavier. You're silent and he mockingly cups your cheek, the pad of his thumb rough against your cheek.
“That’s better. Now to answer your question. I sent some pictures to your brother. Told him you’re safe with me as long as he doesn’t try to save you. But you know he will.” His tone is sweet, mockingly so. It makes your stomach knot.
“Ur not letting me go..?”
“I don’t know, Dragonfly. I might. Once I’ve had my revenge. But then again, I wouldn’t be leaving you much to go back to, so I may just keep you as my pretty little prisoner.”
Your eyes widen.
“W-what?”
“You’ll understand soon, sweetheart.” He kisses your forehead.
“As long as you don’t try to run, you’re safe, for now.” His voice drops low, menacing. He gets off and heads towards the door.
“Y/n,” he says looking just over his shoulder, “If you run, there will be consequences.”
“Will I ever leave this room?” You ask desperately. He waits, before smiling.
“You will," his smile is cunning, "Now get in the shower. We have an event to attend tonight, and I want you fresh.”
The door closes with a final click, the silence feels threatening more so than it does comforting. You slide out of bed, movements getting a little more fluid and easier.
You pad over to the shower, turning it on. The sound of the water slices through the silence. Steam billows above the shower, wafting into the spacious bathroom. You step under the warm spray, letting the heat relax the rest of your stiff muscles.
You notice he’s stocked the bathroom with a loofa and body wash, your favorite scent. Along with bar soap, shampoo and conditioner. It's a surprising detail. It reinforces your curiosity of just how long he’d been planning this- been watching.
-
As you're looking in the closet for a dress the door to the bedroom opens and shuts, his large frame in the doorway of the closet. He walks in right behind you, his hands on your waist and you stiffen. His nose goes to your neck.
“You used the body wash,” you can hear the smirk in his voice, “Good girl.” His fingers dig into your hips a little.
“It’s a shame Hyunjin has such a pretty sister. In a different life, maybe,” he trails off, his voice oddly warm, almost, nostalgic. His arm reaches over you, pulling out a short red dress.
“You’ll wear this. Put it on.” His voice is back to being cold and firm. You wait for him to leave.
“Uhm, can I have some privacy?”
“You do realize I’ve seen you practically naked. When you were being a little slut on that stage for those men,” you can hear the irritation, and it confuses you. The name stings but you don’t say anything, you just look down. You don't want to make him angry.
“Get dressed. Now.” You slip off the soft robe, stepping into the dress. It’s low in the back, and barely covers anything.
“Come with me, we need to apply your.. accessories.” The way the words come out, it makes your stomach clench. You walk out of the closet with him and notice some things on the desk. A set of ears, a collar, a leash, and a tail.
“Chan…” your voice is weary. He walks over and grabs the collar first. He walks back towards you and you put up your hands but he backs you to the wall.
“Don’t fight me, Dragonfly. You won’t wear it constantly.” He fastens the collar around your neck. It’s snug, but not enough to choke. He places the ears on next.
“Get on the bed, hands and knees.” he says firmly.
“Chan-”
“Y/n, do it. Now.”
You reluctantly walk over to the bed, and position yourself. He hikes the dress around your waist, no underwear present. He grabs a bottle of lube and coats his fingers.
“I’m not a monster,” he murmurs as his finger circles your hole. You whimper in fear and strangely, slight anticipation that you don’t understand.
“Try to relax, it doesn’t hurt as bad that way.” He slowly pushes in a finger, making you gasp. He lets your body get used to the intrusion before working it to stretch you.
“Good girl,” he praises with a gentle kiss to your shoulder blade. He adds another finger, working them to stretch you for the plug. Chan coats the plug in the lube, before he works it in, making you gasp once more as its seated. The feeling foreign and full.
“There. Perfect.” He smirks as he looks at your ass, tail hanging down. He pulls the dress down over you, tail seated and hanging just behind your legs. He attaches the leash to the collar and gives you a pair of heels to wear, before placing the ears on your head, effectively turning you into his little pet.
“When we get there, you’ll crawl beside me. Understood?”
“Crawl?! What am I, a dog?!”
“Yes.” His voice makes your blood run cold. He’s really doing this.
-
The minute you step inside the of the building, he pushes you to your knees.
“Stay by my side. Do not talk.” He says firmly before walking in with you. Eyes land on Chan then on you, and your face heats up. Some look on with curiosity, others with pity or sympathy, and a few are indifferent.
Chan walks over to a group of guys, chatting, something about arms dealers and how they're not holding up their end of the deal. You don't pay full attention. You focus on the song in the background, something to try and take your mind off the utter humiliation. No one else is crawling around on the ground like this. But they all cast glances and some whisper.
“Pretty pet,” a man suddenly says and reaches down, patting your head condescendingly. Your jaw clenches but a hand wraps around the man’s wrist.
“Minho,” he says lowly and dangerously calm, “She’s not yours.” the warning is clear, you’re not to be touched by anyone. Minho smirks and winks at you, pulling back.
They go back to their conversation for another few minutes before the group disperses.
“Keep talking about her like that and you won’t have a tongue to talk with anymore.” Chan gets in his face, his hand gripping your leash so tight his knuckles turn white. Minho smirks at you over his shoulder before looking back to Chan.
“Walk away, Minho,” he growls, Minho sips his drink before raising it as a mock goodbye. Chan is fuming, you can feel it in the way he tugs on the leash.
“In my lap, now.” He says as he sits in a large chair toward the middle of the room. He places you in his lap, tucking you into his side.
“Let me explain something to you, nobody else will touch you. Ever. Do you understand me?”
“Yes,” you whisper, not sure how to placate his obvious rage.
“Good. Now.. act like you enjoy this.”
“What? How?”
“Lick my jaw like the good puppy you are.” he says in your ear, his smirk evident. Your tongue darts out, licking over his jaw like he said. He hums in pleasure and you seem to have placated the monster. So you continue. Something in your gut, despite how wrong it feels, likes knowing you can make him happy, even if it is like this.
Your nose nuzzles against his jaw and neck, you’re playing your part. Making him happy so he doesn’t really lose his cool. Or at least, that’s what you’re telling yourself. Every so often his fingers dig into your hip, a little squeeze then release. Your brows furrow so the next time he does it, you turn, and your eyes find the man from earlier, Minho, across the room looking at you.
You notice how Chan’s jaw feathers.
Placate…
Appease the monster…
You turn his face to yours and before he can speak, your lips are on his, slow and sensual. His hand tangles in your hair, and for a moment, it’s just the two of you, the music fades, people aren’t real and time doesn’t exist as his tongue massages yours. Your manicured fingers gently rest along his jaw, his other hand pulling you impossibly closer.
You pull away and the look in Chan’s eye is something you’ve not seen in the short time you’ve been around him.

Chapter 2
“My name is Diamo-”
“Your name is Hwang Y/N, baby sister to Hwang Hyunjin, princess of the Hwang Family.” He crosses his arms over his chest and your heart feels like it’s going to explode out of your chest.
“Who the hell-”
“Chan, Bang Chan,” he pulls down his mask and has a smug smirk on his face.
“Nice to make your acquaintance.” Silence stretches, you’d heard about Chan. Whispers at events and family functions. He’s dangerous, he’s a skilled assassin, he’s ruthless and rude.
“What do you want with me…”
“Your time.” he says vaguely.
“What do you mean…”
“I mean you're leaving here and coming home with me.” Your breathing basically stops. Before you realize what’s happening, his mask is back up and he’s dragging you through the club and to a van.
The doors slam open and he tosses you in before sitting beside you.
“Listen, I don’t know what you want from me-”
“Here’s what’s going to happen. You’re coming home with me. I’m keeping you and when your brother inevitably comes to save you, I end him slow and messy.” He says these words like it’s nothing, like he’s discussing a sports game.
“Chan-”
“Dragonfly, this can go one of two ways. You can obey me and make this as painless as possible. Or you can argue, fight me and I make this painful.”
“You’re threatening me?!”
“No, I’m promising you.” The car whizzes past the city, lights and buildings blurring in the windows. As your mouth goes to open Chan gives you a look that silently says to keep your mouth shut.
The mansion comes into view, its multiple stories with balconies on each side and in the front. The car pulls up to the front door, and he gets out, dragging you with him. His hand stays clamped around your wrist as he pulls you up the steps.
“Chan! Hold on-”
“Walk faster.” He doesn’t stop, he doesn’t even hesitate. Inside the mansion is beautiful, but it lacks personality. There’s a marble floor, but no color, just black and white furniture and appliances. A couple cold but obviously professional paintings. There’s a grand kitchen across the hall from a large living room complete with a fireplace.
“Get a good look, you won’t see much of it.”
“What?!” He doesn’t respond, the shy, mysterious client is gone, now you’re facing a man who’s strong and angry. He takes you to a room on the second floor. The dark door opens, and inside is a room with a bed, a tv, an en-suite bathroom, and barred windows.
“Welcome to your new home.” He grins wolfish and condescending before he pushes you inside, slamming the door shut. A lock turns and your heart races.
“Chan!” You beat on the door, and there’s no response. He’s left you alone for the time being. You walk around the room. None of this makes sense. You hadn’t done anything to the guy, why did he want you? The bathroom is extravagant, a large standalone tub, a shower, a double sink vanity. You look at the tub, noticing jets and even controls giving it a luxurious feel.
There’s a walk-in closet to the corner of the bathroom, where clothes, both fancy and casual hang. All of them are exactly your size and similar to what you wear. The realization gives you a bone chilling revelation.
He’s been watching you.
A nauseous feeling presents itself in your stomach. Who exactly is this guy.. And what the hell does he want?
Your heels cause your feet to ache, and you slip them off, your feet now touching the cold floor. Your dress is short, the air cold, forcing goosebumps to rise on your skin as you look out the window between the bars at the sunset.
Would Hyunjin know to look for you? Would he even realize you were missing? It had been days since you talked. The thoughts cause your head to ache. The bed is large, it dominates the middle of the room along the dark painted wall. The blankets are soft, fluffy and warm. The sheets are fresh, like they were washed earlier that day. Like he had prepared this for you.
Sitting on the bed you stare at the ceiling, a chandelier hangs down, making the room feel fancy, elite, and yet all you feel is an unnerving chill to the cold atmosphere.
You turn the tv on, a low hum of noise in the otherwise deadly silent room, but it doesn’t help. Eventually the lock clicks over and the door opens, revealing Chan with a tray of food.
“Figured you might be getting hungry.” He smiles. The way he’s so casual about this makes your skin crawl.
“What am I here for?”
“All in due time, dragonfly.” His grin is that wolfish, smug smile.
“What did I ever do to you for you to take me prisoner?” He fixes your food on a plate, it’s your favorite. It makes questions swirl in your head.
“It’s your favorite,” he presents it gently, with a coke.
“How long have you been watching me..?”
You’re not entirely sure you want the answer, but all of this is so crazy you need something, some form of clarity.
“For a long while, dragonfly.”
“Why…” the nickname he keeps calling you feels possessive. It grates on your nerves.
“You’ll find out. Now eat.” His voice is firm. He notices your hesitation.
“It’s not poisoned, besides if that were the plan, you never would’ve left the club.” He keeps that same grin on his face.
“Now eat. You’re going to need your strength.”
“What for…”
“Eat.” The word is clipped, his face now falling to a frown. The fork clanks against the plate as you eat. The food is delicious, but the silence is thick with unsaid words and tension.
“You said you were a business man…”
“Yeah.” He watches you eat, eyes sharp.
“You know my brother…”
“Uh huh.”
“Friend or foe?”
“What do you think, dragonfly?” The inflection in his voice says he wants you to guess, despite the answer being obvious.
“What did he do?”
Chan chuckles, it’s dark and it sends a shiver down our spine.
“You’re a curious one. The time for questions is over. Finish your food.”
He watches you eat every bite. It's uncomfortable. It’s weird. It's obsessive even. Once your plate is clean, and your soda can is empty, he takes the tray and walks out abruptly, the door closing and the lock once again clicking in place. Your brows furrow, waiting in the room awkwardly.
Minutes pass and the door opens again. This time he’s carrying a case.
“What’s that…?” You trail off, fear present in your voice. He turns his back to you, setting the case on the little desk under the tv mounted on the wall.
“Ch-Chan..?”
His body is large enough that you can’t really see what he’s doing. Once he turns around, you can see the needle.
“What the fuck is that?!” Panic seizes your voice as you back against the headboard. He advances towards you.
“Shhh, relax, Dragonfly. It's just going to help you relax.”
“I am relaxed!” It comes out rushed, frantic.
“Give me your arm, don’t make this harder.”
At the last second you scoot off the bed, going into the bathroom, heart racing, and when you're about to lock the door, he busts through it, forcing the door to knock into your forehead.
You cry out in pain and walk backwards falling back into the tub where he follows you, taking your arm and injecting the needle.
“No! No!” You squirm but it’s too late. It’s done. The liquid is warm in your veins.
“What.. was that..” your voice slurs suddenly.
“Shhh, it’s okay. You’re just going to sleep.” His grin is sick, as your vision spots.
“That’s a good girl.” He praises you, but his tone is vile and condescending as it fades out and everything goes dark.

Next Chapter
The bass thuds, the lights flash, the club is smokey, just like every Friday night when you work. Suddenly the lights go down, plunging the crowd into darkness before strobes of light cast onto the crowd and a man’s voice comes alive on the speakers.
“Please welcome back to the stage…. Diamond!” He announces and you walk up, a picture of innocence and sex appeal combined in one; heels tall and hair done up.
The crowd is shaded in pinks and reds from the lights and dollars that start flying as your hips move when the music starts. The pole to the center is an anchor, both to dance and bend down to grab the cash. You look over the crowd, winking, smiling, blowing kisses.
But what you don’t see is the man on the upper floor, towards the back. He’s sitting with a few people, but when his eyes find your scantily clad body, his breathing stops and his hand clenches the whiskey glass to the point that his knuckles turn pale white.
Your top falls away, and immediately he sets the glass down with a hard click. He notices how guys and even a few ladies fawn all over you while you dance, throwing money at you. It grates on his nerves.
You continue the dance, the lights harsh and warm against your skin. As you turn you get a view of each side of the stage, faces are blurry, only a few are distinguishable. Strangers with a look of lust.
You tease the strap of your underwear, pulling it down before letting it go back up on your hip with a flirty smile, biting your manicured nail. The whole time, Chan is up on the upper level, grinding his teeth, the muscle in his jaw jumping with every clench. He finally downs the rest of the drink and slams down the glass with a harsh clink. He goes to the bar down stairs, the whole time, his eyes are on you.
The song is coming to an end, and judging by the amount of bills on the stage floor, you made a decent amount. You end in a sexy pose once the music stops and applause erupts, more money being tossed as you smile innocent but flirty. You pick up your top, quickly tying it up in the back before collecting your bills.
“And that was Diamond! Give her another round of applause!” The announcer smiles over at you and you wave sweetly with a wink. You give one last wave to the crowd as you finish collecting your money and head back to the dressing room.
You put your stage money in your bag in your locker before you lock it up. Music continues to play and the lights flash still as you walk out onto the floor, a sea of strangers walking around along with other dancers.
“Diamond!”
You look in the direction of the voice, and you see the manager waving you over. A polite smile finds itself on your lips and your feet carry you over to him.
“Hey, Zeke! What’s up?”
“Baby girl, that was a great set. So good in fact, someone has requested you for an hour, paid in advance.”
A wad of cash is flashed in front of you and your eyes light up.
“What room?” You reach for the cash and Zeke points to the hallway with doors on each side.
“Last door on the left.” He winks at you and once you’ve secured the cash you quickly lock it up in the back and walk down the hallway. The door opens under your hand, the room is bathed in dim warm lighting. You notice the mask on the guy's face. His eyes are visible, but his nose, mouth, and chin are covered. He sits on the plush couch, legs spread and eyes following you closely.
“You shy, sweetheart? Don’t worry, I don’t bite,” you wink and he sits there, motionless. It’s almost eerie, but the $1,000 in your wallet causes you to push forward. His hair is done up nice and neat, the button up tight against his skin.
An odd feeling twists in your gut but you ignore it. The sultry music begins and you walk over, a pole sitting in the middle of the room. You start dancing, the silence is thick with tension.
“So why do you do this?” His voice comes out gravelly as he pulls out his wallet. More cash is produced and your eyes raise.
“I need the money,” you say vaguely.
“Why?” He pushes.
“I uhm.. I just do.” You smile, politely.
“Why you wearing that mask?” You get into his lap, making the dance more personal.
“Because I need to.” he answers with the same vagueness you do.
“Touche,” you smirk and grind.
“Am I allowed to touch?”
“Normally, no… But… you can hold my hips.”
“I’m special then.” He says it like a statement, not a question.
“Maybe you intrigue me.” You flirt as you press your chest into his face. His eyes flutter closed as the heat radiates from your body.
You continue the dance and his hands find your hips. As you grind down you can feel the effect of your performance through his pants. You stifle a soft embarrassed giggle and continue dancing.
The song comes to an end and he leaves a generous tip on the couch.
“You work tomorrow night too?”
“Why? Wanna come back and see me?”
“Absolutely,” he admits. A furious blush pushes its way upon your cheeks.
“Yeah… I work tomorrow.” Your voice is now drained of confidence, it’s now a shy sweet tone. Something that makes his heart skip a beat.
“I’ll see you then.” He’s out the door before you can even say goodbye.
-
That night you go home, your mind is consumed with the masked client who promised to show up tomorrow. His hair and eyes haunt you. His voice, deep, serious and sweet. The way he looked at you, you don’t know how, but it was different.
Only time will tell if he shows up the next night.
-
The music pulses and while you try to forget about your masked client. Every time you see the front door open, you look hoping to see him, but you never do. Each time a twinge of disappointment courses through your gut.
The time comes for your stage dance, and the whole time you search for him, both on the 1st floor and the 2nd floor.
The earlier part of the night went, no sign. You don’t let it affect your performance, especially when you see normal clients. You put on the same mask as every work night, the flirty smile, the sparkly eyes and sweet voice.
The stage dance ends and you’re pulled left and right. Mostly regulars, but a few new people.
Finally as the night is about to conclude, Zeke approaches you.
“Diamond, you wanna take one last dance? He paid up front again.” Your stomach clenches as he flashes the same wad of cash from last night. You smile and take it, locking it away the same as last night.
As you walk in, there he sits, in a black tank top and black pants, mask to match. Your eyes roam, seeing the definition in his arms.
“I didn’t think you’d show up.”
“I told you I would.” His voice is so casual.
“My shift is technically over. I’m staying over for this.” You inform him.
“Let me make it worth your while.” He flashes double the amount he paid you.
“You don’t have to-”
“I know,’ he shrugs and throws it down on the table like it’s nothing. The music starts.
“I want a lap dance.” His voice, his tone, the air around him tells you he’s not big on being told no. And he did pay… very well.
“Alright darlin.” You give him a flirty wink.
“So, you wanna tell me what you do for work?” You ask as your hips move in his lap. His hands find their way back, like they belong there, and it feels strangely like they might.
“I’m a business man.” His tone is short, but casual.
“What kind of business?”
“Classified information, sweetheart.”
“Mysterious.” you smirk but continue the dance.
“Did you have a good day before work?” Your movements falter for only a brief moment. He notices.
“Uhm, y-yeah. I did.”
“What’s the matter?”
“Nothing, just.. No one asks about my day. It… caught me off guard.”
Something about that makes Chan’s blood boil. Anyone should count themselves lucky to even be in your presence. His hand goes up your back pulling you closer, forcing a small gasp from your lips.
“Let me take you out to dinner, Diamond.” Your eyes widen slightly.
“I don’t date my clients, sweetheart. It muddies things. I’m paid to be a performer.”
“So that’s a no?”
“Unfortunately, handsome,” you nod slowly. He nods his head, but you can tell he’s thinking.
“Then I guess I’ll settle for this.. For now.” he says. The rest of the dance is more tense. The music ends, but his fingers flex against your hips.
“Dance is over, sweetheart-”
“Do you have to go?” his voice sounds strangely vulnerable.
“My shift is over.”
“Just to talk.”
“I should get home..” You get up off his lap with a polite smile.
“Y/N,” you freeze, eyes wide. No one in this establishment knows your real name… So how does he?
