Bree Reetz is a self taught illustrator. She’s been drawing since she could hold a crayon. Freelancing before she knew the meaning of the term, Bree has been putting her creative problem solving to work in various ways for years. Fashion is a reoccurring theme in her work as she places a high emphasis on the form of the body as well as the drape of clothing and hair. A lot of the work that you see featured on this site is considered digital fine art as it blends a mixture of her hand drawn work as well as the digital tools and textures she often uses to complete her pieces. Bree has illustrated 3 children’s books so far and is currently in the process of writing and illustrating her own. She enjoys interacting with people at live drawing events as well as getting feed back on her work on this site. She’s married to her dream guy, Shane Reetz. Together they are always working on one project or another and creative energy is constantly in the air.
Another digital illustration of andro tomboy style complete with buzzcut and dog by artist Bree Reetz. An overcast day in portland made for great drawing weather today. I've been thinking a lot about the comic style art and graphic novel style art lately. I would like to do a slightly bigger creative project in this #style - but am still in the brain storming phase. What sort of story would you like to see me write/illustrate?
With the encouragement of my husband, Shane, I created my first blog post on June 24th, 2009. By that time I had already filled my family’s vintage airloom trunk full of personal and emotional drawings. With the beginning of my blog, my creative thinking began to change in a subtle but important way that allowed my work to blossom from it’s cathartic roots of scattered loose paper into collected…
My favorite series to come out of this year has been my adventure partner series.
My husband and I grew up in the same neck of the woods geographically but wouldn’t meet each other until high school. But we’re convinced that had we known each other back in those days, we would’ve been inseparable. The first illustration I did in the adventure series imagines us exploring together in a slightly…
Presenting Shakespeare 1,100 Posters From Around The World "Just as centuries of theatrical artists have reimagined his works through the lens of their own time and culture, so too have illustrators and designers.

This project kit…

Fruit by Bree Reetz I've been playing with new watercolor brushes in Photoshop today. I'm feeling giddy with the possibilities. Inspiration is a wonderful thing.
The illustration you see above is a continuation of the adventure partner series, and a sneak- peak at the kind of content that will populate my site in the new year! Exciting things are happening behind the scenes in my studio! What sort of exciting things you ask?
I was invited to Elim Children’s Center to give a little talk about being an artist. We talked about how artists never stop using their imagination, that drawing requires practice, and that when you combine observational drawing with imagination – you get style. They learned how to draw a stylized sleepy cat, a dog, and a pigeon over watercolor. The results were fantastic! I wish you could see…

Capitol Shakespeare Presents: The Comedy Of Errors - Branding by Bree Reetz
I’m excited to share with you the branding I created for Capitol Shakespeare‘s summer play: The Comedy Of Errors. They decided to set the scene for this production in one of my favorite eras, the roaring 1920s. So it was especially fun to dive into that era, bringing a modern look to some really snazzy Art Deco inspiration. If you’re in Bismarck ND, make sure to get yourself to one of their free…
Doodle & Play & Fight Your Way Through Currently I work part time at Modern Textiles. Surrounded by fabric, I'm often soaking up ideas for new color combinations and pattern designs.
