big gorgeous thynnid flower wasp from the swamp. you'd think something this big and distinctive would be identifiable, wouldn't you

turns out the (winged) males track down the females to mate and sometimes carry them off for a cheeky airborne shag (see below). i'm assuming that's what this lady was hanging out stanced up on a leaf for
