Before the music could start up again, Brennan grabbed hold of the mic again. Kendall was probably incredibly confused as to why they haven’t left the stage yet, and Lacey was probably about to yell about the timing being messed up, and he was breathing heavy because dancing earlier took a lot out of him, but he needed to do this now. “So uh, hey everyone. I just have something real quick to say. “He spoke into the mic, clearing his throat before he rambled on. “Now, I know what everyone thought of me when I first got here. I was a prick, to say the least. A real ass, who did a lot of real asshole things. But thanks to this girl right here,” he paused, looking over at Kendall. “I’d like to think I’ve become a better person. And all these times singing this song, rehearsing it and now, it made me realize. Just how much in love I am with you. Through everything that went down with your brother, with everything that happened with me. You’ve, for some reason, always saw the best in me. And I’d be damned if I waited.” He stopped, reaching into his pocket. “I know we’re young, and I know this prom, but since when did I ever do anything by the book?” Small laughs and gasps rang out as he got down on one knee, pulling out the box and opening it. He held it out to her with one hand, the other still holding the mic. “So, Kendall Marie Hunt. Will you marry me?”
