Carmen didn’t know who she would be showing that she knew what’s what, but it was a relief to hear him say that. “Okay.” She nodded, trying to reassure herself. “That’s good. That’ll help.”
“Haaaa, yeah you’re right,” she said. It was kinda funny though. They loved to scheme, but the quality of the schemes were lacking. It was fine though, they’d get better at it. They’d be getting a lot of practice in now that Carmen had just cut out a large chunk of her social life.
“Do you wanna come to mine and hang?” she asked him. “Or we can stay here. Or I can leave. I just have a frozen pizza and half a puzzle at my place and I’ve missed you lately.” Carmen didn’t know if it was too much too soon, she was just so relieved they’d fixed things.
They were really bad at it, but that was okay. They had time to figure out how to get better. "We can probably use it as, like, a testing ground. If something sticks, then we know that we're onto something real." Maybe the lack of internet would even make them more appealing as mysterious outcasts.
"I've missed you too." He looked in the direction of her house. The distance wasn't too bad to walk. "Yeah, don't tell anyone I said this because we've got a rep to protect, but I missed the puzzles."
