Wanna be on @FoodNetwork's Chopped?
We LOVE Food Network's cooking competition show Chopped. Great chefs, mystery basket ingredients, and the occasional finger vs. mandolin blood fest equal awesome television.
The show's producers will be in New Orleans in a couple of weeks to interview possible contestants from our area. There are a ton of great chefs in Baton Rouge, please be sure to spread the word!

Tailgating Throwdown scheduled at Red Stick Farmers Market
To celebrate 15 years in downtown Baton Rouge, Red Stick Farmers Market is hosting a Tailgating Throwdown on Saturday, November 5 from 8 a.m. to noon!
Individual and corporate teams can sign up to participate in a tailgating cookoff for a chance to win one of three prizes: Best Use of Local Ingredients, People's Choice Award, and Tailgating Throwdown Champion.
There is a $100 entry fee per team, and there is no limit to the number of team members. That cost includes $20 worth of farmers market tokens, which teams can use to purchase ingredients from the market.
In addition to the cookoff, there will be live music, a food tasting, Bloody Marys and mimosas, door prizes, and fun activities for kids!

Exciting events at the Red Stick Farmers Market this Saturday!
As if the Red Stick Farmers Market wasn't awesome enough all ready, here are two reasons why you need to be there this Saturday:
Smith Creamery Reception. Meet Warren & Sandra Smith of Smith Creamery, which was recently destroyed by fire. Many of you made donations to the BREADA Emergency Fund to help them recover.
Curbside's first Brunch into Lunch. Cheddar biscuits, truffle'd polenta, and praline bacon - OH MY!
Seriously, people, GO.

Fun foodie events coming up!
Wanna get cultured while you enjoy some tasty treats? Several upcoming events fit the bill!
First up, this Saturday, August 20, Chef Paul Prudhomme and Blue Dog artist George Rodrigue will give a cooking demonstration at Manship Theatre. The event is held in conjunction with Rodrigue's Blue Dogs and Cajuns on the River art exhibition, currently on display at the LSU Museum of Art. They'll discuss food, art, and Cajun culture and serve up samples of their cooking. (Image courtesy LSU MOA)
Next, who doesn't love to eat for a good cause? In two weeks, you can do just that at Fête Rouge, presented by The Baton Rouge Epicurean Society. Thursday, August 25, and Friday, August 26, enjoy food by some of Louisiana's best chefs, wine, music, and more. Proceeds benefit local children's nutrition and health programs. (Image courtesy BRES)
Finally, you can't eat it, but the upcoming CANstruction exhibit at the Louisiana Art & Science Museum will help put food on the table for dozens of local families. Teams of architects and builders will create sculptures made entirely of canned food and other nonperishable food items, which will be on display September 3-18. After the display closes, all food will be donated to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. (Image courtesy LASM)
