Rhodey isn’t super religious but he is entirely open to the idea of God and he would call himself occasionally spiritual. Science isn’t at odds with any creator in his book and there is some part of him that needs to believe this isn’t all for nothing - that there is a plan or an endgame or something that makes it all worthwhile.

He laughs- It’s really all he can do- and even that sounds a little hoarse. A little tired. There’s still the creeping exhaustion of sickness, curled around his shoulders in a tight embrace. But he’s laughing, and that’s almost enough to make him seem alright.
