Heyo! I have ADHD so I have a tendency of finding things I love deeply, so I figured I’d share thoughts and ideas here!

(Excuse me if this is poorly written it is actively 2 am lmao. Also I have a tendency to ramble out of excitement, so just a heads up 😭).

Something I think would be a funny/ interesting theory/ headcanon would be Erid having two sides. One is full of life and potential, where the Eridians and Grace live. The other side is the blood ocean😈.

In my mind I think it would be ironic if the ocean in Graces biodome is connected to the blood ocean but the Eridians never knew. Eridians are pack creatures, they don’t need much to be happy. So when they saw how fucked up certain plants were and how things were dying (not the stars, the actual plants and living things on Erid) they built a huge dome over the “safe” land they had left.As this infection/virus grew that’s when the blood ocean was created and destroyed all/most plants.

Eridians KNEW it was a problem but it wasn’t harming them…so they ignored it lmao. NOW Grace is here and the ocean they had was still normal so they built his biodome over it since he liked the beach (thanks Rocky). It’s fairly deep like a normal ocean, so Grace nor any Eridians explored it (I think it would be funny if Eridians just sunk…yk like rocks).

So, we all know Simon was sent down to gather shit and encountered the alien fish god. What if instead of attacking it, he found a hole in the ground and managed to get the sub through? Obviously the sub gets damaged and banged up so blood/water fill rather quickly. But by some miracle, the sub managed to reach the surface due to the difference in blood and actual water (buoyancy is what I’m trying to describe).

Now we have a sub in GRACES BIODOME. Obviously everyone panics but they get Simon out!

Now we have a BloodyMary!

(For extra context: the top side of Erid faces stars and Tao Ceti. Plus Erid does NOT rotate like earth, so the top side receives all the love and care. Meanwhile the under side is filled with virus and a potential death threat. It does not receive the same treatment and lost its stars faster since it doesn’t face Tao Ceti. When Simon arrives to this planet he figured (just like everyone else) that this planet is just straight blood. And due to its size and a whole ass blood ocean, people there just figure that the blood ocean is all that there is…obviously until Simon “stumbles” into the normal ocean on Erid).

This is an idea based on my last post: As I said, imagine Eridians being able to survive in oxygen. However what if Rocky (and Adrian, they refuse to be alone again lmao) go back to earth with Grace as like a “vacation”?

I can imagine the ship (the better Hail Mary) landing in the ocean near a government/ military ship. They bring the Hail Mary back to land and just like before, all head leaders AND Stratt are there. News reporters are being held back by guards and fences, so this was definitely a world wide event (because once they got close enough to earth grace managed to contact them).

So everyone is tense as the Hail Mary opens and the fog clears (for dramatic effect). There stands Grace in his usual cardigan, a little thinner than when they left Erid but still doing great since they packed enough food. Then, BAM, out runs Rocky and Adrian. Rocky is pissed at Stratt, and has seen her face via photos and research, Adrian is running behind Rocky to get him to slow down and stop for a moment. Grace just sighs, he had negotiated before this with both the rocks but CLEARLY they chose to “forget”.

Luckily for Stratt, she’s fairly far away and Rocky having multiple legs doesn’t make him quicker since he’s more clonky. However she can hear the angry voice from Rocky’s necklace that the Eridian scientist made for translating. Now Adrian’s pissed off and arguing with their mate, and FINALLY managed to lay a leg/arm on Rocky, flattening him to the ground and unable to get up.

Grace just grabs the bags they needed to bring and was muttering about “we talked about NOT starting an intergalactic war guys…”.

I’ve always had a thought about Rocky’s ball.

Obviously in the movie and book it is seen (the xenonite) as solid. HOWEVER, I raise you this:

Rocky’s suit, ball, and enclosure he made in the Hail Mary leak in oxygen but not enough to cause any physical harm. So Rocky slowly acclimates to oxygen and can still be in ammonia too!

For better context: xenon is a gas (as stated in life lmao) but since Rocky made it into a “solid” it protected him, right? WRONG. Small oxygen particles manage to get through the high densely packed xenon particles every now and again! Grace never questioned if the rooms smelled funky because he just figured he needed to clean (aka ammonia slipping through too).

One day on the Hail Mary one of the panels broke in the lab, and Rocky tumbled out. Obviously both panic due to the smell and temperature change, UNTIL they realize…Rocky isn’t dying. Grace had to leave the room due to the ammonia but was able to watch from a distance!

That’s how they discovered Rocky acclimated to oxygen over several months and now could withstand it. (Like a goldfish in a new tank or like allergies!)
