Doing anything can be overwhelming. Anything. Especially something that involves and requires a lot of time, commitment and energy. Or perhaps something you know you HAVE to do but don’t find the initiative to start; a new diet or exercise routine, embarking on a new business venture, or any life/social/career endeavor. One aspect of myself I hate is how “bad” I am at the “admin” of my career. Chasing agents, managers, the constant hunt and scavenge (aka networking) for better opportunities, basically anything and everything in an art form that doesn’t involve the craft of the art itself, I find nauseating. I’m very good at tending to and watering my plants; I’m terrible at selling them. BUT… I came up with a new mantra to help me get through those self questioning, “Am I just shouting into a dark, empty cave” moments: “1%.” I have it now post-it noted on the wall right in front of me. Just a big 1 and a % sign next to it. That’s all I have to do, for ANYTHING. Just get 1% better today than you were yesterday. Be 1% better as an actor today than you were yesterday, and tomorrow be 1% better than you are today. That’s it, like adding a penny to your piggy bank. It might not seem like a lot at all, but if you’re one percentage point better today than you were the day before, in a year, you’ll be 365% percentage points better than you are today. That’s it. Just get that 1 percent improvement. Very easy, very doable. 1% percent, baby…

Hello! It’s been awhile... I miss blogging! I started out blogging years (decades?? 😳) ago and I always enjoyed it. But like many, I got swept up in the ‘micro-blogging’ (remember that word?) of social media. Yeah. We all know how that’s going... For everyone. Too much noise, vitriol, and froth. I forgot the feeling of rumination and contemplation before publishing a post. It was therapeutic. I need that again. No one’s gonna read this. And I think, ultimately, that’s why I’m back.

#MexicoCity: "A city w/ lots of trees" or "A forest w/ lots of buildings?" One of the (many) things I love about this city is the sheer number of plants & trees here creating shade from the sun, reduce air pollution & give animals shelter. One thing I had to get used to were the uneven sidewalks, & that's b/c tree roots are strong enough to break concrete. It creates a walking "hazard" but the city (I think) refuses to cut any of the trees down because Fuck You the trees were here first. Unlike NYC, here you have to take your eyes off your phone while walking around, like a normal human being. Huh. Imagine that: being aware of your surroundings while you're walking. #CDMX #ELDF https://www.instagram.com/p/B1aOXcWAKA-/?igshid=19t0ad9nil7n3
