H-E-R (Part two)
Part 2

The room was exactly what i was expecting based on how the halls looked and smelt like. Small single bed pushed up against a wall with a weird-patterned blanket, a pillow case on it with the same pattern and a towel on the edge of the bed, a small in-room desk standing next to the bed with a pencil, a block and a lamp on top of it, and a small window which barely let any natural light in, making it only possible to use the harsh bulb light right on the ceiling. I dropped my shoulder bag on the floor and sat at the edge of the bed, immediately noticing that the mattress was hard and was probably going to be uncomfortable sleeping on it. But hey, beats sleeping on the streets.
I see now why people shouldn't act out impulsively like this.

Maybe i shouldn't have decided that this was something i wanted to do.
I sighed, before deciding that maybe i should shower. All that walking under the sun outside wasn't funny. I took my clothes off slowly, feeling slumped and exhaustion seeping into me but i had to brush that feeling away.
Did she even say when i should start? Did she say today or tomorrow? Fuck, this is why i need to pay attention more often.
Deciding i'll ask later, i took the towel with me to the bathroom and went inside the shower. No matter which direction i turned the shower handle, the water was ice cold. And as much as i appreciated it due to the hot weather, it soon became too cold and so i hurriedly washed myself and got out of the shower.
After the cold shower, now dressed, i decided that now was the moment to go ask about when to start. I quickly put on my shoes and made my way outside, locking my room door behind me. The elevator had no music, nor did it look modern in any way on the inside except the buttons. After a bit, i reached the lobby and made my way to the receptionist lady again. I expected her to be at her back office again doing.. whatever it is she does there, but once i arrived, i found her talking gleefully to a tall lady who was standing next to her.
Seeing as they both didn't notice me yet and, i took this time to look at the lady.
Maybe she's a guest here, i thought, but taking in the outfit she wore, her stance, i could tell she was a woman who was self-assured. I didn't need to look at her face to know she easily intimidates people wherever she is and whenever. Still staring and lost in thoughts, the receptionist finally noticed me, which made the lady turn to finally notice me as well.
well fuck.
"Oh, uhm, sorry, didn't mean to ruin your conversation. I just needed to ask a question or two about the job" I blabbered out, eyes gazing at the both of them. The receptionist chuckled dryly and averted her gaze from me to the woman. "Ms. Kaspar, this is Y/N, she's our newest cleaners. Gave her the job today. Y/N, this is Ms. Adelaide Kaspar. She's the owner of the hotel" My eyebrows raised slightly at the last bit of the information.
Owner? As in she owns this dump? and she looks so young, how did she find herself owning the most misleading hotel ever?
Questions and questions filled my head but now wasn't the time to be questioning considering that this is technically my boss. "Nice to meet you, Ms. Kaspar" i smiled, holding out my right hand for her to shake. She eyed me up and down, smirking slightly before turning back to the receptionist, leaving my hand hanging. Oh..
I put my hand back to my side, slightly irritated as i watched them talk. I stood there for another two minutes or so before turning around and taking more of the lobby scenery in. Seems like i missed it when i entered, cause there was a bar at a certain corner of the lobby. A man stood there, cleaning the glasses and drying them up. I eyed him, because there was this certain look he had on his eyes. Sadness, maybe? but not really.
Then suddenly, i felt a hand on my shoulder and nearly startled me to death. Before i could turn and see who it was, i heard a whisper.. "Nice to meet you as well, Y/N. Great to have you at the hotel" said the voice. I finally turned and saw that it was the woman from earlier, Ms. Kaspar.
"oh, thanks.." i said awkwardly, not expecting that. Adelaide gave me a small smile before she made her way to the elevator, heels clinking on the floor with each step she took. Did she live here? I asked myself as i watched her go.
I returned my attention to the receptionist, brushing off any thoughts that were starting to surface on my mind. "Is now a good time to ask my questions?" i asked, watching her as she organized the papers on her front desk poorly. "sure sure, make it fast" Oh, she's annoyed... "When am i supposed to start working? I'm not sure if you mentioned it before, maybe it slipped my mind" "You just arrived, Y/N, and it's the weekend. Work starts in two days, but if you're eager to work, i can surely arrange something for tom-" "nonono- that's perfect! Thank you, uh.." Seems like i didn't catch her name, but she caught on quickly. "Leesa. Leesa Herberts." Leesa. Cute. "Thank you, Leesa. And i noticed there's a bar here. When does it open?" I asked, turning slightly to point behind me where the bar was, then quickly returning my attention back to Leesa. She was silent for a second, her expression suddenly becoming unreadable as she looked at me. The sudden feeling of uneasiness from before gnawed back at me, suspicion building up inside me but that feeling subsided as she replied with "It's open, you can enjoy a drink right now, if you want!" That smile... "thanks. See ya"
I quickly walked towards the bar, not sure if it's a good idea or not but everywhere else seemed better than by the reception. Once i arrived at the bar, i took a seat at one of the stools, looking at what they have and sensing that the boy from earlier hadn't noticed me yet since his back was turned from me. Could kill for a rum cola- fuck, i forgot my wallet! As i was about to stand up and take my leave, the bartender finally noticed me. "Oh, sorry, got distracted. So, what can i make for you?" He smiled, but his smile looked forced, his eyes didn't have the shine either. "Just realized i forgot my wallet, so-" "No problem! I'll make one drink for you on the house. Heard your the new hire." My eyebrows raised at that, surprised at how fast the word had already spread. "You have, huh?" I said, a hint of playfulness at the edge of my voice. "Words spreads fast here, be careful what you say out loud"
That comment, just that one comment made me rethink the whole choice of working here. 'Be careful what you say out here..' That means the walls are listening, it had to mean that. What about my privacy in my room? Oh gosh.. "Uh, does a Vodka Cranberry work for you? If not, a simple shot-" "Yeah sure, Vodka Cranberry coming right up" Said the bartender, cutting my sentence off, but hey, i get a free drink.
Seems like those drinks were far much stronger than i had anticipated. I think it was after my 3rd? 4th? glass that i really became drunk. I looked at the clock on the wall but the hands were dancing, spinning much faster than ever and that was a clear indication to me that i'm drunk. Too drunk. I stood up, legs unstable and wobbly as i made my way to the elevator. The nice bartender helped me where he could. He pressed the button for me and as the elevator came, he pressed the floor i'm staying at.
Odd, i don't remember telling him that..
Then the elevator doors closed, ridding the thoughts out of my head as it hummed softly, beginning to rise up to my floor. The doors opened and i stepped out of the elevator.. hmm, this didn't seem like my floor. That did explain why the ride was much longer as it was before. I turned, pressing the call button for the elevator, but it seems like the universe wasn't on my side. Why was this taking so long? I pressed the button over and over again, but the display on top of the elevator still showed that it wasn't coming back up.
Fuck me.
And then at that moment, the sounds of heels clicking behind me filled my ears, making me turn to see who was there. Lord behold, it was Adelaide. Of course it was her, who else would it be?
2nd part took so long because i genuinely forgot to type all this out from my notebook. On my little book, i'm well past part 4 and starting on part 5 but i'll keep posting
