shakespeare lit moodboard → ophelia
“unexpressed emotions will never die. they are buried alive and will come forth later in uglier ways.”
Ophelia was led to her eventual madness and death through several contributing factors during Hamlet: the corrupt treatment of authoritative male figures in her life, her weak, fragile state of mind, and her societal roles as a female during the Renaissance era. The above quote relates back to the point of Ophelia not being able to express her opinions as freely as she would have liked, which later came back in the uglier way of her madness and death. The image stating “I trusted you.” is related back to her misplaced trust in the prevalent male figures in her life. Symbolism in several of the images can be interpreted (the feather, leaves, broken ruins) as representing her weak state of mine as those objects in the images are either broken or delicate, not strong or stable. The remediation of these main points into a moodboard and quote can be explained once the meaning of each of the combining factors is found.
