Twisted, Sequence, 2014
I tried to emulate the style of Hockney with this sequence. Originally, it was a boring portrait that didn't have anything special. But I moved some squares around and messed with their opacities to make it look more interesting. I also put a filter on it using Analog Efex Pro to add another special aspect to the photograph.
Fade Away, Sequence, 2014
I took this photograph outside my house in my backyard. It was very difficult for my model to keep a straight face during this shoot, I'm not sure why. But, I spread her hair out in the grass to make it look more interesting. In Lightroom, I put a sepia filter on the photo. Then, I took boxes of the photo and changed the opacity of each. Mrs. Ross added the border and I think it looks good because it makes the grass look less bland and boring.
Hatched, Sequence, 2014
This was my favorite photo from the sequence assignment. I chose to emulate the style of the photographer Bertrand Flachot. He has a sequence of just birds nests, I changed it to eggs. I found these eggs in my backyard and when I saw Flachot's photo on Mrs. Ross' tumblr, I thought they would be perfect for a sequence. I added a filter because the eggs are kind of bland without it. I think overall this photo turned out very well.
Distortion, Field Trip, 2014
I created this photo by copying and pasting small squares throughout the photo and changing their opacity. I also made it black and white because the background was pretty clipped so the black and white filter improved that a little bit. But, this wasn't one of my favorite photos from the field trip.
No Turning Back, Field Trip, 2014
I took this photo in Pilsen. I thought the graffiti looked very creative and wanted to capture it. I saw this man walking down the street along the graffiti so I took his photo. This isn't one of my best photos. We had to do a street photo and this was the closest thing that I had to one. I think my name "No Turning Back" represents the idea of him leaving town and not going back ever which makes a thought provoking photo.
Reflection, Field Trip, 2014
I took this photo in Osaka Gardens as well. I think it turned out very well because the clouds were very pretty and blue. The main thing in this photo that I liked was the reflection of the tree on the water. That's why I named it reflection. The water looked beautiful that day too which helped enhance the reflection as well.
Bridge, Field Trip, 2014
This panorama was taken in Osaka Gardens. The sky was nice and cloudy that day which created an interesting look for the top of the image. I think the bridge is the focal point of the photo and it adds something extra to the photo instead of it just being a boring landscape. I made it black and white because the color of the photo was pretty bland and grey. So I enhanced that color by making it black and white.
When A Stranger Calls, Movie Magic, 2014
This photo was pretty difficult to create because of the hand in the background. Originally, I tried photoshopping the hand in after the fact, but it didn't work out too well. I then photographed the hand and the girl at the same time. Next, I added the fog, the name of the movie, and put a blur on the hand. I think overall the photo turned out very good and looks pretty similar to the poster.

I created this photo to emulate the poster from the movie When A Stranger Calls. I think it turned out very well and it is very similar to the poster. The only things that are different is the nails aren't supposed to be painted and I didn't put the credits at the bottom. I thought this assignment was very fun and this is also one of my favorite movies so I enjoyed it a lot.
Alone Together, Zine, 2014
When I shot these photos, my model was freezing! But I think the photos turned out pretty well. I made them all black and white to make them relate to each other. They are also in the same setting in the woods. I used a quote from one of my favorite songs for this zine.
Hidden Identity, Alias, 2014
I made this photo in the style of the photographer Mitsuko Nagone. I put her hair in her face because the model's face is always covered in his photos. I used to paddles because Nagone typically has weird objects in their hands. I made the background a gray pattern because Nagone usually matches the color of their shirt to the background but it's slightly different.
Untitled, Alias, 2014
I started to create this photo by finding a model with long hair. I got an iron and a spray bottle just like in Mitsuko Nagone's photo. Then I put the pink background behind her in Photoshop. I think they look very similar except that the girl in Nagone's photo has darker hair than my model.
I put christmas lights around my model to create this photo. I wanted to play with the lighting but it was hard to get it just right. I also put an iris blur to emphasize the model and make the background fade. This isn't one of my favorite photos because there isn't anything very special about it besides the lights.
I used a donkey mask for this photo to make her look mysterious and anonymous. I could of added more room to the left side of the model. I also used a texture instead of having a boring black background.
I took this photo in Bucktown. The pillars make an interesting background because they are old and worn out. My favorite thing about this photo is the lights shining down. The only thing I would change to improve this is to cut out the trees on the right side of the photo.
I put leaves on her hair to create this photo. It was also taken in Bucktown on the field trip. I used a filter to create more contrast in the leaves. This isn't one of my strongest photos.
This photo was taken in Bucktown on our field trip. I thought the door and the brick made a good background. I put a motion blur on her to make it more interesting. Lastly, I took out some saturation and put a vignette.
