“You’re trying to tell me you booked me so last minute that I have to have the photos ready in three days?”
I don’t think talking to your inbox’s going to change anything, but “accidental” assassination might. Do I need to push someone in front of the subway?
So the circus came to town early.

❝--- So who does a girl have to flash around here to get hard liquor? Asking for a friend. ❞
“In the third week, a girl stood on the dais, amidst the swords and the woven rugs and gold. She was beautiful, her skin a deep brown, her hair black and gleaming. High on her cheekbone was a spreading bruise where a knuckle had connected. In the twilight, her eyes seemed bruised as well, shadowed as if with Egyptian kohl.

‘Briseis,’ she repeated. She was pointing to herself.’”

Faces of the Trojan War:
Βρισηΐς│Briseis
Briseis lost family, country and freedom when Achilles sacked Lyrnessus where she lived; yet she found her captivity sweet, until the feud between Achilles and Agamemnon, which costed so many lives, made her captive of the latter. Briseis was married to King Mynes of Lyrnessus. When Achilles sacked Lyrnessus, he slew Briseis’ husband and her three brothers, and brought her to the Achaean camp as her prize and concubine. In retaliation to Achilles’ effort to cease fighting, Agamemnon claimed Briseis from him. She became a major bargaining chip between the two feuding Greeks.
I want what all men want, I just want it more. You don’t need to fear me, girl. You’re the only Trojan who can say that.

“I’ll tell you a secret. Something they don’t teach you in your temple. The Gods envy us. They envy us because we’re mortal, because any moment might be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we’re doomed. You will never be lovelier than you are now. We will never be here again.”

i. The hero was unfaithful- As every creature whose veins carry the golden blood of gods. But he admired me Not for my beauty- there where many faces prettier than mine. He loved me Not for my ancestors’ name- when I first knew him I was in chains. ii. Truth is this story is nothing like romance and beauty and tender looks. This story started with blood and Wrath and dirt and chains; and In blood it ends tonight. iii. He liked me because I was untamed I was doomed I was cruel as only those Favoured by the gods can be. He liked me because I was like him. He saw me slaying weeping animals on Apollo’s altar, with bare hands; he saw me refusing men for I was stronger than them. iv. I put my eyes on him at dawn, his naked body of fair shape and youth dirt in blood of his enemies, my brothers. My sisters said he was a demon. Those who chained me said he was a god. I found a boy, pretty as a flower, savage and cruel like no flower Can be. And I- depreciator of men- I fell for my enemy at dawn. v. He asked me if I was afraid of blood; I answered girls get to know blood far Before boys do. He smiled. I found an equal. We never belonged to each other. We shared our adolescent passion under the walls of Troy. But I loved my city more. And he loved his man most. I admire him For the only love he was able to keep: Achilles loved his Briseis, but Without Patroclus there is no Achilles.

And what savagery have you reduced me to– That which drips from the tip of canines, that which coils the tongue in preparation of a viper strike – hissing & spitting – stinging all who would question (and venom leaks easy); I’ll pour every inch into a mortar & grind until nothing but dust lines the catacombs of my hollowed heart– (and I shall pray that this is the cure to ebb the bitter creature that resides within me) .
