Final Project:

The two art history lessons that resonated the most with me were Fuavism and Impressionism. I was inspired by the colors and movement from these two lessons. I used a wooden canvas for this, using thick wax-like paint and with a paint brush I dabbed it on around the wood to create texture. The colors I chose relate to the Fauvism assignment because I chose soft white, pink, and blue to represent peace, tenderness, and comfort. I used two twigs to form a cross in the center, found pedals from a bush, cut out two flowers from a magazine, used a fake flower, and stuck on three of my favorite Bible verses. This ties in with the Impressionism assignment because of the pedal movement.

I am really happy with how this turned out and love having it in my room, as it serves as a reminder of my faith and that God’s got my back always:) I had a lot of fun this semester experimenting my creativity!

Say hello to Michelangelo! Michelangelo is made entirely of a cardboard Michelob Ultra box. I used red ribbon to hold him up and found a lively image of a happy man from a magazine. I chose the song “Jump” by Van Halen because Michelangelo looks like he wants to jump around and have a good time :)

Futurism:

This is Paro. Paro is a therapeutic robot intended to be used in hospitals and extended care facilities. Paro helps reduce patient stress and stimulates interaction between patients and caregivers. It has different sensors that helps it perceive people and its environment, as well as recognizing light and dark. Paro can feel being stroked, beaten, and held. Paro can learn to behave in a way that the user prefers. For the future, Paro can help be a presence for patients when they don’t have visitors and allow them to be calm and relaxed

PARO is an advanced interactive therapeutic robot designed to stimulate patients with Dementia, Alzheimer?s, and other cognition disorders.

Cubism: this was very fun and relaxing. I really enjoyed spending time making the background because it allowed me to take a break, relax and just draw.

Fauvism Assignment:

For this assignment I drew my friend Mika with markers. Mika has a unique and energetic personality, but is also very chill and easy to have around. I made the background colors blue and purple, representing her chill vibe and creativity. I chose to color her body pink to represent her playfulness, she’s so silly! I also added some green in there because she has been growing and through the lessons she’s learned here at bonaventure. Finally I made the cup she’s holding orange and yellow to represent her enthusiasm and energy that she carries with her every day.

HW 3/18: One of my favorite sport moments of all time is Kris Jenkins’ buzzer beater in the 2016 National Championship to bring home Villanova their first national title since 1989. I will never forget this moment because my whole family watched this game together from start to finish, and it was a nail biter (double OT). I remember all of us not being able to move from our spots in the living room when it was getting close. We are big nova fans because my dad played football there, and it was a huge game for them being the underdogs against UNC. When the clock was ticking down and Jenkins winded up to take the 3 pointer, the house went quiet and then roared with yells of excitement and cheering. It was awesome. Whenever I watch the clip I always get goosebumps. So good.

In my depiction of this awesome moment, I only drew Jenkins shooting his game winner and used light brushstrokes to convey movement of the ball going into the net.

Midterm: I chose this picture of Khloe Kardashian- she obviously used a photoshop app to edit the size of her leg and butt. You can tell that her right thing is much smaller/skinnier looking, making it look abnormal compared to the size of her left leg and the size of her butt.

This image stuck out to me because it revealed to me how women and men feel the need to alter their appearance for “acceptance” and satisfaction with your self appearance. Influencers and celebrities have huge platforms, and when they alter the way that they look, it has an impact on their audience which sets beauty standards as well as insecurity problems. This is sad to me.

With the ongoing development of AI, I think photo editing will only get easier and more accessible to people. We won’t even know what’s real and what’s edited or AI generated anymore because of the advancements.

Assignment 3: I was inspired by @reillydel21 and @aidanboyle14 ! I found that these two pieces from Reilly and Aidan shared a similar aesthetic and conceptual relationship through color movement, nature, and adventure. I loved the color schemes used by both artists and how it created a soft feeling. I enjoyed both pieces and they made me want to go outside and explore. For my piece on the bottom, I combined Reilly and Aidan’s colors and cut out images of mountains, a winding road with a biker, and some clouds to match their aesthetics.

Hello! For my first piece I took inspiration from the album “Eat A Peach” by the Allman Brothers. I wanted to convey what the album felt like to me which, in general terms, is warm weather and good times. For the background of the piece I took inspiration from the color palette of the album itself. The images I chose were pictures I had taken myself this past summer which I felt conveyed the feeling this album gives to me. The specific song “Blue Sky” is my favorite off the album. This song, I think, is one of the best songs by the band and is what I think of when I see this album cover. On the bottom part of the piece I included things that have to do with the ocean, and include my times in the Hamptons visiting family. On top of that are some of my favorite summer moments around Boston. The car and the barn are from Vermont. This is the car I dream of driving while listening to this album, Hopefully one day it becomes a reality. I enjoyed this first project very much as I love music and art, it was fun to tie the both together.

For my art piece #1, “All Great Artists Steal”, I decided to focus on the Ye album by Kanye West. The album cover itself has multiple tones of blue with a bright green saying on the front, juxtaposing the blues. For my take, I decided to focus more on the state of New York to make the cover pop. I included clipping from the Enchanted Mountains magazine of Cattaraugus County, NY. I also drew in some iconic New York features such as the Empire State Building and Niagara Falls. To finish it off, I made the main focus of the art piece, New York’s iconic saying, “I❤️NY”.

For the second assignment I decided to use the complimentary colors of yellow and purple. I used oil pastels with water and a paint brush to spread the colors across the page for a more watery look. I found Jerry’s head and gave him a cactus body with kitten paws, a leaf as a jacket and added some antlers as an accessory

One of my favorite albums is "Strange Trails" by Lord Huron. I like how it incorporates nature and how it feels like the person in the hat is the viewer looking out at his surroundings. It seems like they’re in awe, which mirrors the folk and whimsical sound found throughout the album.

I took my inspiration mainly from the feeling of perspective I get from the album cover. I wanted my artwork to make the viewers feel the same way as the person in the cover, as if they are the ones looking at the beauty of nature. I used the newspaper clips to make it feel like you are seeing glimpses of different nature scenes like the person on the album. I added my drawing of the person on the cover at the bottom looking at the nature images. I used my sketchbook paper, newspaper clips, colored pencils, and glue.

One of my favorite songs of all time is Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson. All the inspiration I needed to create my art actually came from listening to the song. I really dissected the lyrics and can visualize what is happening throughout the 3+ minute song. I see it as warm, laidback, and colorful. That is the main reason why I took this album cover and made it colorful. I really think it is a unique album cover, but what album cover isn't improved by a splash of color, and an orangutan!

Assignment 1: for this assignment I chose Zach Bryan’s album, The Great American Bar Scene. What I like about this album cover is that it’s filled with people who are enjoying each others company and smiling :) I chose to replicate this album as my own because this album came out mid-summer, when I was in Charlotte for the summer playing for a semi-pro soccer team. My friend Ava and I had this album on repeat when it came out, so now whenever I listen to it I am reminded of the many memories I made over the summer. To make it my own, I chose to draw 4 pictures from my summer that the songs reminded me of: my summer team, my family on vacation, my friend Ava, and Jesus😊 my favorite song from the album is “The Way Back”, and I added my favorite lyrics from that song onto my piece.

Hi everyone! My name is Bridget, I’m a senior exercise science major from Cleveland, Ohio. I played on the women’s soccer team here and am the 3rd of 6 kids in my family! I love spending time with family and friends, and all things fitness related as I am looking to pursue a career as an Exercise Physiologist or Strength and Conditioning coach.
