For my final project I used water colors to portray a beach scene with boats and a sunset. I mixed a lot of colors together to get different shades of sand and water, as well as blending many colors together to get the right fading for the sunset.

The history lessons that inspired this painting were the renaissance lesson and the Impressionism lessons. The inspirations that I took from the renaissance lessons was the amount of detail I needed to put into the painting, especially the boats. I also took the inspiration from renaissance for the clouds which I had to use a different technique to get them to look like clouds.

The other history lesson I took inspiration from was Impressionism. Impressionism seems to be geared towards landscapes and very detailed landscapes. I tried to get more detailed but I found it hard to because the water colors was very runny. In the lesson there was a painting with the sun reflecting off of the water which is what I tried to do with this painting as well.

For my puppet project I used many materials. I used a good amount of athletic tape to hold everything together which is what all the black stuff is. I used a lacrosse stick butt, which is the white part, as his torso. I used mechanical pencils as his legs and markers as his arms. For the stings I used yarn that was laying around my house. For the head I used a light build and I colored it. His name is Loof Curdburger and loves to go out for Italian food on the weekends. He writes graphic novels for a living and occasionally watches school plays.

The Viper ACR might be somewhat old but it still holds records on the track and sets the goals for many modern cars today. The ACR was way ahead of its time and its aero dynamics still baffles the car world. The crazy thing is that they only made a handful of them and have not made anymore since but the cars still exist and push the envelope for new super cars everyday.

For this weeks Cubism assignment I first started out by creating mor familiar shapes but as I continued I decided to go more abstract which allowed the shapes to flow but also created some sharp angles. Some of the shapes also started as regular shapes but then evolved as I kept the colored pencils on the paper. I cut out images from many different books and magazines so they have different page thickness, texture, and also quality of print which is cool in a more textile and physical way. I also cut out a couple different sizes of the same parts of the face and instead of not using one of the other I decided to use both, and I think it came out pretty cool.

For this weeks project I decided to use my self and create a self portrait in the style of Fauvism. I decided to print out a picture of myself and use fauvism as metaphorical window into my personality. The black and white image shows the outside perspective to someone who might not necessarily know me but in the fauvist portion that I drew I wanted it to convey the creativity I feel I hold along with the rest of my personality. I used the color yellow to represent happiness and excitement when I am involved in doing something that I love like playing Lacrosse or listening to music. I used the color green as an abstract background to portray the calmness I think I possess.

I chose to convey horse racing as my action re creation. I love watching the way horses move and how majestic they are. To me they are such beautiful animals and I tried to convey they In my drawing. It took me a while to figure out the perspective in this drawing and this is the best that I could manage. It seems to me like the horses know that they are racing against each other in this image as well which I think is very cool. This was a difficult one but a fun one to do.

For my Mid-term, I wanted to go with one of my favorite Mission Impossible movies. I wanted to re-create a major scene in pop culture from Tom Cruise's point of view instead of how the stunt scene was shot. I wanted to make it feel like you are riding on the motorcycle and are the main character in this pop culture moment. It was tough to work with colored pencils as I usually like to draw in black and white, But I think it came out better than I imagined it in my head. What was especially hard was the perspective, mostly with drawing the buildings.

I took inspiration from two different classmates pieces who both had some nature elements involved and one had a car element as its center piece. For my Background I took inspiration from the Mt. Joy piece by including the mountain range in the background. The trees are also inspiration from the other piece especially with the different greens. I added in the sun along the mountains as a nod to the Mt. joy piece as well. The car was inspired by the Backseat Lovers project, and the bear is just something to go along with the nature theme I wanted to go with. I had a lot of fun trying out new techniques with my water colors on this project.

I used the complimentary colors of purple and gold as the iconic sweater I found involves both of those colors, along with many others. I like the contrast between a darker purple mixed with one of the brighter colors on the wheel. It also reminds me of royalty. I decided to go with more of a deconstructed outfit as the sweater took up much of my canvas. This was a little bit of an obstacle but I really like how it came out

Hello! For my first piece I took inspiration from the album “Eat A Peach” by the Allman Brothers. I wanted to convey what the album felt like to me which, in general terms, is warm weather and good times. For the background of the piece I took inspiration from the color palette of the album itself. The images I chose were pictures I had taken myself this past summer which I felt conveyed the feeling this album gives to me. The specific song “Blue Sky” is my favorite off the album. This song, I think, is one of the best songs by the band and is what I think of when I see this album cover. On the bottom part of the piece I included things that have to do with the ocean, and include my times in the Hamptons visiting family. On top of that are some of my favorite summer moments around Boston. The car and the barn are from Vermont. This is the car I dream of driving while listening to this album, Hopefully one day it becomes a reality. I enjoyed this first project very much as I love music and art, it was fun to tie the both together.

Hello my name is Reilly DelPonte. I am a senior marketing major and live right outside Boston, Ma. I am on the lacrosse team here at school and currently work for a large car wholesaling company and hope to continue with that after graduation. I am very excited to learn more about art history!
