“Sorry ––– you weren’t talking to me were you? I’m a little out of it today.”
Picking a baby name is really hard. I want something meaningful, you know?
“Well, what have you come up with so far?”
“She’s gone….she left Levi here…”
“Are you okay?”
A patient’s mother tried hitting on me today. Needless to say, it was awkward.
I see that happening way too often, it’s awkward for everybody. Except the mother of course.
I need someone to kiss at midnight to ring in the new year, are you in?
Part of me doesn’t think I’ll be awake that long.
breakdowns and breakthroughs // logan & bridgette
Logan perked up at the words ‘Harry Potter’ which so happened to be his favorite book series. He told this to Bridgette, a huge grin widening on his lips. “You know what, you don’t even have to ask, you can just practically walk right in, and I’ll be okay with it. Come on, there’s got to be something we can do that makes you happy. Like, watching your favorite movie, or this weekend, we can do something you love like hiking, or even baking. I want to cheer you up, it’s one of the things that makes me such a lovable guy, you see.”
“Just walk right in, huh?” she questioned with the small raise of her eyebrow, “Well I’d call first, definitely wouldn’t want to impose.” She took another sip of her tea before setting her glass down on the table. “Yeah, I’m starting to see that,” she said with a small smile, “I’m feeling a little better already actually, you’re already cheering me up.”

Logan chewed on his lower lip before taking a sip of the warm tea. “Then don’t. You know, you could get into a lot of stuff that could take your mind off of things for a while. Like, you could take up a new hobby like learning how to surf, or maybe even find a better job if you don’t like the one you have now. I don’t know if you’ve ever told me what you are, but it’s probably a full-time one if you work a lot. You can even come over and help me on my novel whenever you want, I’m pretty much always home, just surrounded by balls of paper. It actually gets pretty lonely over there too, so you coming over would maybe even give me a little inspiration.”
She was never a fan of sulking, or wallowing in things that only made her feel worse. She sighed, taking a sip of her drink. “Right, surfing, that’s a long-shot,” she said with a small chuckle, “I love my job, I’ve missed it the past few months.” She offered him a small smile, “Well, no one deserves to be lonely,” she said, “Though I can’t say I would be much help on a novel, unless it was a Harry Potter spin off. But it would be nice to have something to do other than work and coming back here.”

Logan wasn’t lying to her, and hadn’t planned on starting. He was truthfully not going to be doing anything other than being there that night. Most of his plans were squashed by endless boxes seeping into his living room, just waiting to be unpacked and settled into storage. “Don’t be sorry, I promise you, I honestly don’t have anything better to do. And even if I did, I’d much rather be here and support you.” He raised his right hand as if to say ‘scout’s honor’, shooting her a sympathetic expression. As he listened intently to her, he couldn’t help but correlate his feelings to hers so well and thoroughly. He had been in her position before, left all alone and more importantly feeling all alone. “But you’re not, you have me. You’re nowhere close to being alone. I’m sure you have other people in this town who care about you. Do you have friends that live nearby?” He asked, shutting off the stove to quiet down a screeching kettle, only to pour her and himself a cup, relaxing both of the mugs onto her coffee table. He silently propped back down on the couch beside her, hands clasped on his knees.
Normally she didn’t mind being alone, she actually liked the peace and quiet. But she didn’t want it anymore, or she’d at least like to have the option to not be alone. She could hear the high pitched noise from the kettle in the kitchen, but the noise quickly disappeared. “I cut a lot of ties when I left,” she said with a small shrug, which she expected. The only reason she left was because the one person she wanted didn’t want her anymore. “A lot of good friends aren’t here anymore, and well, I’m used to working a lot,” she added as he sat down. “I don’t like... sulking, I think I’ve done enough of that for a lifetime or too.”

He slightly brushed her knee with a comforting hand before getting to his feet and striding to her kitchen albeit she reclined his offer to make her anything. “I’ll make us tea, anyways. It always helps, trust me.” He began to fish through her cabinets, looking for the right ingredients whilst putting a tea kettle on the stove. “Don’t be, it was either this or struggle some more on my novel. Still failing to even write the first sentence. Thought I’d get some decent brainstorming done by now, but maybe it takes time. Besides, even if you barely know me, I’m always going to be here for you, that’s something you can hold me to.”
Her head followed him as he made his way into the kitchen, she honestly felt rather guilty pulling him away from whatever he was doing. She hadn’t known him very long, but his presence was comforting, and after feeling the opposite of comfort the past few months, it was nice to have. “Still,” she said with a small shrug, “I’m sorry I pulled you away from it –– I just... I thought things were going to be normal again. He just left. They’re divorcing, and she’s pregnant and I just... It gives me a headache.” She wasn’t sure what was going on in Dom’s mind, and chances are he’d never let her know. She was rambling now, not sure if she was talking to Logan or just talking aloud. “I came back here for them, he’s my family. I came back from Chicago because I got tired of being alone... and now I’m right back where I started.”
phone call ✆ krysta
Krysta: Bridgette's words felt like a punch to the gut, she didn't know that her brother and nephew were already gone. Licking her lips, she exhales slowly, trying to muster up the words. "They're already gone. Everything's gone, the house is practically empty. I don't even know why I'm still here. I have nowhere else to go, I guess."
Bridgette: They'd already left. Both of them. And they didn't even bother to say goodbye. But then again, neither did she. "I can't...." she couldn't believe it. It didn't make sense. It wasn't like Dominic to up and abandon people which is why she was so surprised he did it the first time. "You can... you can come stay with me, if you want."
breakdowns and breakthroughs // logan & bridgette
As soon as Bridgette let him inside and informed him on why she asked him to come over, he understood immediately, and couldn’t help the warmth that grew inside when he realized she trusted him enough to invite him into her home and tell him about her problems. He didn’t say a word. All he did was open his arms to pull her into a close embrace, pursing his lips together in plain concern. “Here,” He motioned towards her sofa, settling down, “sit. Do you want me to make you anything? Tea? Coffee? Food?”
She sighed, relieved to have another person here, she’d practically been alone non-stop the past few months. It was nice & rather comforting, honestly. Her arms wrapped around him loosely. When he pulled away she made her way over towards the couch, taking a seat and bringing her knees up to her chest. “No, I’m okay,” she said with a small shrug, honestly she was too busy worrying about Dom and Eric and Krysta of course to want anything. “Sorry, I’m sure you had better plans then coming over here tonight.”
breakdowns and breakthroughs // logan & bridgette
Just only several days after having moved into Charleston, Logan had met quite the bunch, including a dazzling brunette named Bridgette. They had talked for a while, and soon enough, exchanged phone numbers and addresses, in case one needed the other for anything. It was a hectic day of throwing balls of paper with scribbled out lines scrawled all over them into the trash bin for Logan, his left hand aching from writing for a considerable amount of time. It was only a matter of time he chose to stop when Bridgette’s name flashed across his phone screen, a short text asking him to come over that night. But instantly, it seemed almost urgent. So, he slipped on a dark cardigan, sliding on his snow boots, and scooped up his car keys from the small ceramic bowl that lay just beside his front door. Hauling up to the curb beside her apartment building, he parked his car and sprinted up to her door. He rapped twice, panting from all the running. “Bridgette?” He called out.
She honestly wasn’t sure who to call. The one person she would call was her brother, and she couldn’t do that. And she couldn’t call Krysta, not with everything she was going through right now. Sure, Dominic was Bridgette’s brother but he was Krysta’s husband. She couldn’t fathom how Dom could leave Krysta, and especially a pregnant Krysta, she just didn’t understand. The Fullers were masters of taking off on the people they care about. She ended up texting someone who she figured would be good company, and might actually care about what’s going on. And it wasn’t long before she heard a knock at the door followed by her name. She walked over, pulling the door open, “Hey,” she said, letting him inside and pushing the door shut. “Thanks for the advice on how to talk to Dom,” she said, “But he’s flat out taken out. Left Krysta, left everything.“

Krysta: Krysta stared at her phone as it rang, wondering who could possibly be calling her now, knowing that the one person she wanted it to be wouldn't be calling. Her husband was gone, her life shattered, and now she had to pick up the pieces. Right before the call goes to voicemail, she answers, taking a deep breath. "Bridgette..."
Bridgette: She was relieved when she heard a voice on the other side of the phone, part of her figured she wouldn't answer. "Krysta," she said, running her hands through her hair. "Is it... I got a voicemail. Is it true? Is he leaving?"

Bridgette: After receiving a rather vague voicemail from her brother it took her a few minutes to understand what he was saying. Through all the mumbling and the pauses he'd basically told her he was leaving. Leaving town, leaving her, leaving Krysta, and leaving his job. Was it some kind of practical joke? Getting her back for everything she'd done the past few months? She quickly dialed Krysta's number and held the phone to her ear. "Pick up..."
“He’s your brother, in time, he’ll come to terms with your departure, and will most likely reason with it. And if it makes you feel any better, I’ve done worse against my family, but they still forgave me. It seems like a little break from reality is what you needed. Sometimes, reality can be a little too harsh on some of us, even me, some of the time. There’s nothing wrong with a little break, now and then. In the meantime, sleep on it?”
“Yeah I guess that’s one of the perks of family, they kind of have to forgive you eventually. See look at you, giving thoughtful advice and all that. I can see why you do it so often. Now the only thing left is for you to actually take some of it yourself.”
“He’s a pretty good sleeper, thankfully. Though I do have to feed him quite a bit still.”
“Babies sure can eat a lot, Eric ate quite a bit when he was born. Maybe it’s just a boy baby thing, preparing for their teenage years.”
“I happen to give out way too much advice that I should be taking advantage of. You’d be stressing him out by having a conversation? I’m sure that he’ll understand if you just simply ask him how he feels. In fact, that’d probably make things better, just getting the things you really want to say out of the way, especially for him. If it were me with my sister, I’d want to talk to her about it, baby or no baby.”
“You’re probably right. I know it should be talked about, I guess I’m just not too sure how to start that whole conversation off. But I’ll figure it out, after all he can’t be mad at me forever. Or at least I hope he can’t. Just like my little break from reality couldn’t last forever.”
