I know I'm on hiatus right now but I really want to complain about this
It's a bit personal cause it's not entirely about jjr/sih, but I seriously wish jjr/sih is still an active, ongoing series. I believe sih is still ongoing and so is jjr, but they're basically dead. Why are we getting a new volume/chapter after, like, a decade? Don't burn me at the stake, maybe it's regularly updating and I'm just not in the loop, but damn do I wish it was more popular.
The fandom is absolutely dead, like 12 people max are posting about it on Tumblr and even if you stumble upon an abundance of something jjr/sih on another site like pixiv or deviantart, it's either from 2015 or it simply doesn't exist.
I want to be apart of an active fandom to engage with the fans and, yk, be assured that someone will actually see what I post, but I genuinely can't get into anything lol. I'm not interested in jjk, chainsaw man, gachiakuta, witch hat atelier, or any of the currently super popular animes with active fandoms, and I'm mildly interested in stuff like bllk, tshd, ace attorney, mha (even though I had a raging obsession with it up until season 5, but given I kind of stopped consuming its media since then I feel like I'm not "qualified" enough to fit in especially given the development of all the characters I just feel like there's alot I need to take in to make a proper statement/opinion and not be sent death threats over)
I have no idea what to fucking do I'm TIRED
I want engagement with other fans, I want content to consume, I want funny ongoing jokes and hcs and ideas, I want fanfics and au's, I want to gush over stuff that is popular and known I love jjr and sih to death but no one exactly knows two bl animes from the 2000 outside of Tumblr and very few other apps/sites
Inspired by the hc of a mootie (stating Rin doesn't know when he's wrong cause he was coddled by Sae),
Isaka is an only child I believe so I like to hc that it's not that he doesn't know when he's wrong specifically, more like he seriously feeds into the only-child stereotypes like having a zero sharing policy with anything and bawling his eyes out whenever something doesn't go his way I honestly pity his poor attendants for having to deal with his tantrums
This all changed when he met Asahina because he actually got to be around another kid his age and their relationship began to flourish since!!!!(๑˃́ꇴ˂̀๑)

• Usami: Strictly gay (mlm), he/him
• Misaki: Also gay, open to the idea of dating women but remains mlm, he/him
• Hiroki: I can't put my finger on it but my bi-dar is going off like crazy: Bisexual with equal preference, he/him
• Nowaki: Pansexual, he/him,, very comfortable with his identity and announces it with ease!! Appreciates the beauty of both genders but remains unbiased to gender (~￣³￣)~ He likes what he likes
• Miyagi: Bisexual with a preference for women, he/him,, being a literature professor he must've came across hom‿osexuality in literature so he's surprisingly well-versed on the topic
• Shinobu: Gay, she/he, slight gender fluid appeal. Stumbled across a bl manga of Usami's as he was questioning his sexuality and believed it to be fate's answer, isn't against the idea of being a girl as he believes destiny will make him fall for Miyagi nevertheless so he sometimes allows Miyagi to use she/her on him!
• Isaka: He/him, slight appeal of transmasc but I'm not too keen on it, Freaking Homotron 7000, gayest dude to exist if I've ever seen one and he isn't shy about it either everyone in the country knew he was gay the moment he realized it,
• Asahina: Omnisexual, he/they, he likes anyone and everyone but prefers men, comfortable with his identity as a man but isn't too fixated on it or his pronouns, hence he/they (*´ω｀*)
I may make a mini continuation of this jjr part to add the other side chars like Eri, the Usami family, etc etc as well as sih ♪～(´ε｀ )
→ In honour of Mother's Day (Last Sunday in May locally), these are my jjr character gift hcs 🙆🏻♀️
• Usami: Occasionally said "Happy Mother's Day" as a child, doesn't acknowledge any family holidays as an adult :x He, instead, celebrates Misaki because he claims he's the mother of their future child (mpreg real)
• Misaki: Used to help Takahiro make a clumsily decorated cake or a hearty meal for their mother before her death, now he visits her grave yearly with flowers and talks to her about his life
• Takahiro: Gets flowers for his wifey Minami and takes her out for a romantic date (人*´∀｀)｡*ﾟ+ (He did infact leave Mahiro with usamisa)
• Hiroki: Uses his family's wealth to send his mother on leisure trips with or without his father, or writes her some romantic literature while absolutely red in the face LOL
• Nowaki: Despite the orphanage's treatment and hardships he stood, he occasionally sends flowers to the caretakers there (^_^ ) To remedy, he focuses on pampering Hiroki on this day, insisting he's the mother of their future child (mpreg real #2)
• Miyagi: Can't exactly remember his relationship with his parents, but he seems like a flowers and a hug typa dude
• Shinobu: I don't think his mother was mentioned, so I can't exactly think of sum' (ー_ー゛) Probably just a "Happy Mother's Day" and/or flowers LOL
On a separate note, I feel like he may have it in himself to maybe do something for his older sis Risako......? Or maybe they're a bit too distant for that
• Kyo Ijuuin: Genuinely cannot get a good read on this dude, so he's getting a Happy Mother's Day aswell (-_-;)・・・
• Yuu Yanase (I know he's more sih but I felt like including him 'cause junjou sentiment): Seems to me like he's on good terms with his mother, so a Happy Mother's Day text to him!!

For anyone who still reads my Junjou Romantica fanfic, More Than Anything, I am still working on it I promise! It's just been on the back burner a bit while I focused on other things, but chapter 6 is being written, and here's a little snippet!
Context, Usagi-san finally met Sumi-senpai for the first time and Misaki had the worst dinner with them ever! And now Usagi and Misaki are fighting about it lol.
final draft may change from how this is worded, as I've only briefly edited it.
HC that the reason Misaki is so determined to be a "normal" teenager vs how he views Usagi-san (weird rich kid with a complex who is Not Normal and he is way more normal than Usagi-san, thank you very much, he's Mr. Normal in fact) is because of his parents death and the role he and his brother had to take on with each other after the fact.
Like. He's obsessed with being normal and wanting a normal life with normal people in it because he didn't get that. Not like he thinks he did. His parents died when he was 8 and his brother had to raise him, so he goes out of his way to make up the difference. He desperately craves a normal, nuclear family despite his feelings towards Usagi-san and his feelings towards his own sexuality (even if thats not what he truly wants, he thinks he wants it, he's convinced himself he wants it so, so badly). He's idealized the concept of normalcy so much that he's convinced himself that he had a perfectly normal life even AFTER his parent's death. Granted, Takahiro tried his best to give that to Misaki, but the poor man was on his own, and inevitably, Misaki had to grow up really fast in order to help take care of himself and his older brother (cleaning, cooking, errands, he's basically taken on the stereotypical wife role by the age of 11).
So he tries to bring some of that normalcy in when he starts living with Usagi-san.
Unfortunately Usagi-san is a weird ass little freak of a man
Also I think that’s why he likes when Usagi says to him that he needs Misaki’s help on knowing what a normal family is like. Like Usagi actually thinks the Misaki and Takahiro are a great family unit. Better than his. And he loves learning about commoner stuff that Misaki knows.
Like… Usagi already believes Misaki *is* what he wants to be… a “normal” teenager. Which idk is just kind nice. I don’t think it solves Misaki’s issues or anything like that, but it shows that it’s only a problem only Misaki has with himself.
This is such a great addition though! And on point 100%! Misaki is so extremely self critical its insane. I'm rereading the manga (again) and he is always worried about being a burden and so worried about wanting to be normal and he's so hard on himself for both, but if he were to bring up his worries about burdening Usagi-san, Usagi would DEFINITELY be like "What... The hell are you talking about?" because Usagi has never and will never see him as a burden, he sees Misaki as normal, "Boring" even (volume 9 when Kaoruko-san is introduced lol), but yeah he is so so so hard on himself and his actions and his feelings, but he is so LOVED its insane. I love him
I was genuinely going to make a post explaining Misaki's whole normalcy thing but stumbled upon this absolute gem
I don't have the best media literacy but I'm not a dum dum so I totally noticed Misaki's constant strive to be "normal" and then everything in his life taking a super "abnormal" turn (Usagi having an initial crush on Takahiro, finding Usagi—his tutor's— bl manga, (that whole thing that happened in Usagi's bed from like the first ep), the ordeals with Usami's family etc etc) add his conflicted feelings for Usagi onto that and it's a rather abnormal life yes
Saying this ↑↑↑ out loud makes me feel like I'm stating the obvious lmao
Whenever I try my hand at drawing Usami whether it's digital or traditional he always ends up looking like Hatori....... Or mix of Hatori and himself..... Is this a me problem or a skill problem

Usami: coffee gelato
• I know he doesn't like sweets, but he'd indulge Misaki if he asked, but this man doesn't exactly strike me as an ice cream flavor more so a gelato typa guy, so he's gonna be coffee gelato as it's not too sweet!! (He likes the silkier texture)
Misaki: red bean ice cream
• He adores taiyaki and he seems like a more "Japanese" man, so he probably adores "classic" flavors like red bean ice cream and matcha whsuswj
He alternatively seems like he'd like melon sorbet/ice cream *･゜ﾟ(^O^)↝
Nowaki: coconut gelato
• I was in Italy last year and had coconut gelato and it had the silkiest milky coconut flavor and texture and it was so sweet but not overbearingly so and it immediately made me think of Nowaki, so he's coconut gelato!! (人*´∀｀)｡*ﾟ+
Hiroki: dark chocolate soft serve
• Again, he doesn't strike me as an ice cream dude but he's not the type to just settle for vanilla or plain frozen yogurt, so he's dark chocolate soft serve with chocolate shavings yum c( :
Miyagi: salted caramel ice cream
• His late teacher loved that flavor so he started asking for it after her passing and he slowly grew to like it! I tried salted caramel before and I think the sweet but bitter taste fits Miyagi alot 🙆🏻♀️
Shinobu: cabbage ice cream Mint choco, lemon ice cream
• I feel like he'd especially like the different flavours of ice cream they put on those crepes in harajuku because of how well they go with the whipped cream and chocolate drizzles <(￣︶￣)> He always tries to act so tough but he's actually so cute like wdym you like mint chocolate ice cream crepes with chocolate wafers and whipped cream and chocolate drizzle and sliced strawberries

Usami Fuyuhiko: wouldn't glance at ice cream with a quarter of his eye
Usami Haruhiko: store-bought grape popsicles. Saw Misaki with a grape popsicle in hand once, tried it, loved it, and spent the entire summer sending entire stocks of grape popsicles to Misaki.
Kyo Ijuuin: The cheap vanilla ice cream found on banana splits. Ironically tried one with Yanase and genuinely loved it
Todo: Something absurd like sriracha or soy sauce octopus flavor because he saw it in a Za Kan volume,,,,, Yes, Misaki does infact split his takoyaki ice-cream with him every time
Usami Kaoruko: Raspberry ice cream (cakes) she forces her patissier to teach her how to make
Shiiba Mizuki: Raspberry ice cream. For no specific reason. Like, totally, nothing at all. Oh, it's the same as Kaoruko's? Pure coincidence 🙂↕️👀🙂↕️

The lazy afternoon light seeps in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, highlighting the apartment in yellow beams. Honey lemon tea and smoke mingle in the air, filtering out the lingering scent of the hearty lunch Misaki prepared.
Usami's gaze fell on his lover's leisurely splayed figure across from him: Phone in hand, clicking away, shirt riding up his abdomen, bear plush supporting his elbow as he giggles like a middle schooler with their bff.
He's texting his friend, probably.
Still, there exists no reason to be all bubbly and so.. giggly..
The silver haired man puts out his cigarette, folding his arms over his chest.
“Misaki, come here. I want to hold you.”
“I'll cuddle you in a sec, Usagi-san,” The other barely looks up at his poor longing boyfriend, chuckling away. “Let me just send this really quickly...” He holds his phone with both hands now, clicking faster.
The author knots his arms tighter, observing his lover so fixated on texting whoever he is talking to right now instead of rushing to his very empty and cold side.
Two seconds pass, and Misaki now lays with his wrists above his head under a towering Usami scanning his conversation like it owes him rent. “So this is who is making you giggle like a school girl..”
He squirms, legs flailing like an octopus. “Usagi-san—” His protest is cut short with an abrupt peck to his lips, painting his entire face beet red. “Usagi-san, get off!!”
Usami pulls away, a pout forming on his lips. “How come you never text me, Misaki?”
.......HUH....? The Great Lord Usami Akihiko is Pouting....?!
Oh, no. No, no, no.
God, there's no way. There is no way Usami is jealous right now. Of, what, the distance between him and his friend that forces them to text—?!
“..What?” Misaki's flush lessens, perplexion settling over his features. “Usagi-san do youhearyourselfrightnow—??”
“Well?”
“We live together, why would I text you?”
Usami averts his gaze and grumbles like a child provided a reasonable response for their unreasonable question.
“You never text even when you or I go outside, yet you're over here paying more attention to someone other than your lover.”
A vein bursts along the author's neck. Maybe two. “and you're gushing over that rotten Ijuuin.....”
The boy's flush deepens at the word "lover"— This is no time to fuss over wording, especially not this big, cunning baby's sweet words, damn it!
“Mr. Ijuin isn't—!!” The college student whips his head to the side and chomps down on his lip, dodging the massive trap set by the other man to steer the conversation in another very complicated direction.
With a final exasperated sigh, Misaki caves, battling to push the novelist off. “I can't text you during lectures or work, and I'm only out for groceries on normal days. Plus, you're rarely out for anything other than cigarettes or attending a single hour of a company party and coming back. The rest of the time you're in your bedroom working on your manuscripts.”
Akihiko could hear saxophones growing louder in the distance while a dim bulb suddenly lights up over Misaki's head.
“You were the one to insist on me staying here permanently, and you have promised you'll trust me with keeping my guard up and all— Or Are you going back on your word, Great Lord Usami Akihiko? Would you rather I move out and text you all the time?”
The question, rhetorical in nature, comes out half-confident half-impulsive—It's a genuine gamble with this whimsical, factual Akihiko: either he reads it as teasing, sulks for days (and burns through deadline extensions), or seriously snaps and locks Takahashi up for life.
Neither of them say anything for afew uncomfortable moments of prolonged eye contact, then Usami practically frowns, the ghost of a defeated blush spreading across his cheeks as he finally pulls away from his straddled boyfriend.
Wow. Misaki never knew Akihiko was even capable of blushing.
...He actually looks kind of cute sulking.
So cute the boy couldn't help but stifle a giggle at the unusual sight of his normally composed boyfriend with pink-hued cheeks. So cute he unconsciously inches closer to him and pulls him into a tight embrace as if hugging the adorable Suzuki-san now abandoned on the other end of the couch, rendering the great novelist surprised.
“Y'know, you can be really cute sometimes, Usagi-san.”
“I'll text you more often, so stop pouting, okay?” Misaki nervously chuckles and shrinks, suddenly aware of his arms looped so lovingly around the writer's neck.
Usami doesn't respond, not even as the other slowly retracts his trembling arms—Just plots what he's going to do to his lover when night falls to avenge this unfavorable outcome (defeat), praying the younger one can't feel his heart thumping loudly against his chest.
Let's just say Misaki will really enjoy Akihiko's next volume of his ongoing bl manga.

Later that night, Usami's room—
Misaki tugs the covers up to his chin and whispers into Akihiko's chest.
“I'm only saying this once: I kind of understand your whole, uhm.. ‘I want to make you blush’ thing.”
God, he could feel that smirk curling on his lips.
“Oh? And why is that—”
“I am not elaborating!!”
