Hello! How exactly do you deal (or not) with having such a long living project? I find it hard to keep a project going for longer than 3-4 months at a time.

there's a little term I made up internally called "iokodobaba," or the practice of, no matter what, devoting at least 30 minutes a day to your Big Project! whether that's coding, art, music, or even just planning and scheduling. and if it doesn't click, if shit sucks, just stop after that 30 and be ready for tomorrow. I started and dubbed that process while working at a full-time job I kind of hated. and even when I was drained after work, it was really easy to stick to!! your project always stays present in your mind from tapping it every day, and that 30 minutes often spiraled into multiple hours once the flow state formed.

but even when it didn't, even when 30 minutes is all you can muster, it's still progress. tiny increments with occasional explosions of efficiency! if you want to try it like I did, set an alarm for the same time every day (for me it was 10:30 PM), and when it goes off, drop everything. plan around it. it's non-negotiable, and you know you'll regret it if you skip it.

of course, it's a bit different for me now, given corru.observer has become my main occupation... iokodobaba still remains, but instead of 30 minutes, it's several hours! to paradoxically mixed results, honestly. I'm still working out the best way to do things without burning out, which has been a big problem since mid-EP4-dev. I don't have it all figured out yet, but I'm getting closer. you can be sure I'll give my new technique an even stupider name when I have it perfected.

no matter what, you have to be kind to yourself. you are the only person that can move your project forward. you can have support, but fundamentally you are the key, and if you break yourself over your work, it will die.
