Hector clenched his teeth, narrowing his eyes as he looked at the girl. “Too damn long,” he finally replied.

“Would you like me to find you a hat to hide those ears of yours until you can get to someone for help? Or, anything else?”

Pippa shrugged, “I’m used to it. It’s not the first time and it certainly won’t be the last,”She shook her head, “I’d rather die than go back to that place without a good reason. I’d like to imagine the looks on their faces when they realize that they’ve thrown a party and the guest of honor isn’t even there.”

“You shouldn’t be used to something like that,” She commented, “You have a point though, why don’t we plan a huge party here instead, and you don’t go home?”

“Yep, they want us home for a party to celebrate my birthday next week. But it isn’t for another month and when I told them that, they said that I was wrong. I can’t believe my own parents sometimes,” He paused, “Scratch that, all the time.”

“That can’t be easy, having parents who forget your birthday...” Brittany paused, “But perhaps it gives you an opportunity, you could go to their party, and then on your actual birthday you and your sister can have a party here?” She suggested.
