About me!

Uhhh I’m just getting started on this blog, so I thought I might begin by making an introduction post!

You can call me Nyx. I’ll be using this blog (at least for now) to talk about AViVA, my favorite singer since late 2019

I used to be on Instagram with this same name, but I really don’t care about ig so I thought I’d move my rambling to tumblr, even though I haven’t found any OUTSiDERS here haha. I’ll probably start off reposting my ig content here

I’m currently a college student, so I won’t have time to post often. Don’t worry, though, Im not dead!! And any AViVA fans are completely welcome to shoot me messages or asks whenever :) I can talk in English, Portuguese and Italian (kinda egdjbdjdbd), so feel free to reach out however you feel the most comfortable!!

I haven’t yet been able to read any of the self/less books, so please, only talk to me about them if you also haven’t and also like to theorize about the plot judging by the songs alone!!

I go by she/her, but any pronouns are fine. The pride flag on my pfp is the moon lesbian flag, which is no different from lesbian. It just means I really like to moon and its aesthetic, and I thought that the colours fit Zelda better than the orange and pink one.

I really want to gather as much AViVA content as I can in this website, so I’ll start tracking “avivasoutsider”, in case you guys also want to post!

Speaking of tags, I tag triggers as “tw: trigger”, personal things as “nyx speaks”, and everything that isn’t AViVA related as “not aviva”. Please ask me to tag any triggers that will make your scrolling safer!!

Okay, bear with me on this one because it may sound like too much a stretch to you guys: I love how, for me, it sounds like a song Cupid would sing. No, really. Picture Eros, after losing Psyche, being enraged about having to give humans the happiness he couldn’t have, and filled with disgust about how little humans valued love (and even how they avoided it). The first thing I thought when I heard this song was it was something that this angry and desolate cupid I’m picturing would sing as he went about he world breaking people’s hearts out of spite. It matches with the “there’s no end to my despair, so no one gets their happy end” part, and I also like the meaning it would give to my favorite lyric (that being Eros saying you should surrender to his power even if it makes you vulnerable otherwise he will make sure you live in fear of what he can do). Don’t you just love how music allows for each person to have their own interpretation? xD

The total effect, I’d say. It’s just such an impactful, powerful and addictive piece, I remember when it was released I was listening to it like, 5 times a day at least. Also I’m pretty sure this was the first AViVA song that I listened during the release, so it has a special place in my heart for that <3

I love the brilliant songwriting of the second verse, and the overall message (though this is a given in an AViVA song). My favorite part of it is the outro, when Aviva is singing but at the same time there’s the “la la la la la la la” playing in the background

💛 Favorite thing about the song:

I love that it’s about mental illness. When I first heard it, I still thought I was neurotypical (and really had no issues with anxiety related illnesses). Still, even then I thought it portrayed really well how mental illnesses aren’t something to be taken lightly. Since then, I have developed a degree of religious OCD, which made me relate to this song a lot more. The distorted voice singing “rabbit hole rabbit hole again” in the chorus really speaks to the way repetitive and intrusive thoughts worm themselves into our minds

Some extra thoughts are that I love how Aviva wrote this for a friend who was struggling with anxiety, and that I’m really grateful for this song because it was the one that introduced me to Aviva’s work <3

An EXTRA extra thought is that I simply ADORE Alice in Wonderland, and the fact that this song has some AiW vibes made it stick with me instantly
