One Ship Across Multiple Universes
it wasn't even on purpose that the four canon ships make up a cross Neutral Good--Lawful Neutral--Chaotic Neutral--Neutral Evil
I've been in the Klance fandom for almost 10 years. I've seen and imagined crossovers with atla
But why did it take Steven Yeun voicing Zuko for me to see that Zuko and Sokka ARE Keith and Lance???
I legitimately didn't ship or see the appeal of them. Didn't really care about ships with atla. But seeing it through a Klance lens as a past life or an alternate universe and...

Not in a million years would I have ever thought of this
POV: your friend mispronounces a word once and now it’s a national holiday. Happy #itsgonnabemay Day!
I saw the ramen and without even clicking read more I burst out laughing because I KNEW exactly what the next words were

I was searching my email for something and at the end of the results was a chain of emails from 2007 between me and my high school friend after we graduated.
I've always known I had dozens of emails like that to look at and intentionally didn't delete email conversations from my childhood. My oldest ones are from 2003. But I've never gone back to read them
And like an anthropologist I read the chain of messages in reverse and got a little slice of the past, preserving some details of our lives that were meaningless at the time.
History Lesson: 2007
For context: tthe iphone came out in January 2007 which means it was super expensive and no one had it, especially not kids. in a pre smartphone pre social media world, cellphones were for calling and texting. And most cellphones didn't have a full keyboard, so you had to use the number pad 1=ABC, 2=DEF, and press each number enough times until you got to the letter you wanted. Sounds hard but I was a pro at texting like this without looking and knowing how many presses letters were. And texting was expensive if you didn't have unlimited. I think I might've had 250 texts a month? want to say it was lower but that already feels low. And if you went over the text limit it was like 10 cents or 25 cents a text. And texts were determined by number of characters, so if you wrote a paragraph that might equal 4 texts worth of characters. Conversations were easier over email. So like digital pen pals with friends, that was how we talked outside of school. If you wanted to listen to new music easily you either took CDs out of the library to try listening to an album, or heard them on the radio. And the library limited you to 10 media items at a time. So you could maximum try 10 new albums for 30 days. If you wanted any additional album you'd have to return one of the ones you took out to get a different one out. iTunes existed but not in the way it does today. You could basically use it to save all your CDs to a digital library and listen to them on your computer without having to change your CD in your computer disk drive, or stereo/boombox. But you had to manually label all your songs with artist and title and album. And if there was a skip or error on your specific disk with a song, that skip would be recorded in the transfer of audio. You had to wait for iTunes to transfer all the music. And I can't remember if it was in real time recording it all. I think it was... New at the time was Yahoo Radio that was the beginning of online music streaming, which suggested new music based on your likes. You went to the yahoo music website on your PC browser to use it. When you traveled anywhere, unless you could find access to a public computer you could not check your email, so you basically go radio silent with your friends until you're home. Even if you had a laptop, public wi-fi was rare. Wi-fi was new. My first macbook laptop had a port to manually connect it to the phone line. College had student wi-fi that you had to pay to use. Well you had to pay for all your internet, including the landline in your dorm.
All these little things that I know, but don't think about. Yet they're so different than today that I can recall them after reading a personal back and forth with a friend. We also discussed the last Harry Potter book 7 because it just released.

The penguin filed a restraining order against the moon after it leaked his social security number into a soup pot that was running for mayor of Nebraska.
I asked Chat GPT what was the most absurd and unexpected sentence it could write.
Biggest perk of the Wicked movies?
I finally get all the fanart I craved 18 years ago when I first got into the musical.
There was less than a dozen decent pieces on deviantart and that was it. This was pre-tumblr, pre-insta and twitter was just words
in a simple google search,
I somehow stumbled upon a sect of people who are mad that the Wicked adaptation didn't change the ending??
There's people upset that it's cynical and not idealized.
The whole point is that the play is cynical and it's not an ideal turn of events. Corruption begets corruption, the end.
Seiji and Jesse
since rereading it again, I'm completely flipped what my headcanon for their history is.
I think that Seiji was the oblivious one, and Jesse was actively pursuing him without Seiji realizing it.
I thought "what event could've thrown Seiji so much for his match with Jesse?" My thought was either Jesse confessed to him, or kissed him.
And then Seiji running away after the loss also makes perfect sense. He would've felt a sense of betrayal that he and Jesse viewed their relationship differently.
And he'd be analyzing himself because clearly Jesse was under the impression he would be reciprocated. What did he do or say that would make Jesse think that?
I forget how I stumbled upon this
But there's a group of people that resurrected the "Marvel Avengers Alliance" game. They've been working on rebuilding it for 7 years and the full season 1 beta dropped a month ago.
There's a lot of little status effects that don't always work, but it's exactly what your remember, and you can play through the game and unlock characters and costumes, etc.
They even have all the season 1 spec ops and a PVP-AI tournament for you to unlock those rewards without needing a shared server.
It's a wave of nostalgia from 10+years ago
They're also planning brand new content for it
It's called "Marvel Avengers Alliance Redux" and there's an open discord with the download links as well as a subreddit.

Klance -> Klownery
When the ship was new I remember the conversations about how there's more creative ship-names out there than just combining their names. Like young justice has great ones.
I *just* stumbled across a tumblr who did not use the #klance tag and every klance post was #clownery.
I'm guessing it's a combo of the actual word as well as the "KL" sound.
And I aimed to improve it by going one step further, changing clownery to klownery.
The fandom is too old for a change like this to stick, but I like the idea of having a higher tier ship-name to whip out.

wrestling or battling tongues for dominance
eyes described as orbs or swirling pools
they fell on each other and straddling happened, before there's any dramatic tension between the characters
"the younger," "the older," "black haired," "yellow haired," ((just use their names. It's not as repetitive as you think it is))
when writing prose (not poetry) put the thesaurus away unless it's important for the characters' dialogue
'hummed' or 'clicked their tongue.' Both lose effect in written form. I prefer dialogue to be "mhmm" and "tch" respectively, instead of descriptions.
Thirty-something Things
It's weird being 36. It's been 18 years since I turned 18.
Anybody who had children in senior year of high school would have a child who's a legal adult now.
and that's weird.

If I add the following to a glass of ice water:
-bag of peppermint tea -bag of licorice/anise tea
IT TASTES LIKE ROOTBEER
and I didn't add any sugar
I wanted to know if it would work so I tried it 👌 I wonder if I were to cold brew it in carbonated water...🤔🤔
You can't create a show where you claim "episodes can be watched in any order"
And then have full multi-episode character arcs and story through-lines that continue through the episodes chronologically, and reference previous events.
You can't have both. Having one means you have to give up the other. Otherwise you're disrespecting and alienating your audience.

when it comes to dogs
Do not underestimate the power of your "what a good dog" voice.
For years I've struggled with my dog barking-his-head-off at sounds of things outside.
The only thing that worked is I started talking to him, and soothing him with "good boy" any time he freaks out. And it's working.
Sounds that used to set him off? He has no reaction to. When he does react? He doesn't get up but he might make a sound and I tell him "good boy."
As humans, we think "if I praise him when he's bad that will reinforce the bad behavior" but it depends on what kind of bad.
Reacting to stimulus outside of you isn't going to be reinforced by your praise. The praise IS the distraction. It changes their emotional state.
How did I get my dog to stop barking at home?
I keep telling him he's a good boy.
