The flights as Pokemon types
this was originally gonna be accompanied by art of the deities as pokemon but I'm too burnt out for that <3. Also I'm excluding dragon as an option because that just feels too obvious
was originally gonna be ground/rock but that's a bad defensive combo (6 weaknesses, 2 of which are quad). But Earth flight's lore revolves around themes of preservation, down to an entire subregion of Dragonhome being a vast cemetery, so ghost felt fitting
Fire - fire/ground, fire/flying, or fire/steel
fire typing is self explanatory, secondary typing depends on what aspect of the flight you wanna highlight; ground for the volcano, flying for the bird theming in coatls and banescales, or steel for the blacksmithing
psychic for the prophecy/foresight stuff. Pretty simple, one of the easiest combos to give
flying self explanatory; fairy is more vague, it just kinda feels fitting. Wind also seems to be one, if not the most, whimsical flights, and fairy can be pretty whimsical too
Light - psychic/fairy, psychic/dark, psychic/ghost
psychic for the whole knowledge-focused/scholarly thing, secondary type can vary like with Fire. Fairy if you want to lean into the literal light element (using fairy as a 'generic magic' thing here); dark or ghost to represent emperors
Shadow - dark/ghost, dark/fairy
dark self explanatory, ghost or fairy to represent the trickster stuff
Lightning - electric/steel
whole combo is self explanatory. Sorry for not having much to say, Lightning flight
Ice - ice/dark, ice/ghost
dark or ghost to represent the containment of the Shade. Again, sorry for not having much to say (on my own flight no less)
fighting represents the whole 'survival of the fittest' kinda thing. Also considered dark since Plague is like the edgy evil flight, but that's more of a player interpretation thing and not necessarily canon
Nature - grass/fighting, grass/ground
fighting represents the same here as it does in Plague, since Nature also has that kinda thing going on (even if it's a lot more subtle). Ground could also be used here simply because the idea of the Behemoth tree being the Gladekeeper makes me think of Torterra? plus yknow. plants need ground
Arcane - fairy/psychic, fairy/bug, psychic/bug
psychic for the lore, fairy for the faes, bug for the aethers. My personal choice would be fairy/bug
including the Shade mostly for fun, partly so normal type can be used somewhere. Dark could also be applied, but personally I find it being pure normal to be more fitting. After all, the Shade is supposed to be like an anti-magic kinda thing, and what's more normal than a complete absence of magic?
