Ravenwood is recruiting!

→ GENERAL IC INFORMATION:

The Ravenwood Company is a long-standing self-funded mercenary company. Originally started amongst siblings Bronvys and Calliren Steeldawn upon the dismantling of a lesser noble House of Silvermoon. It was soon shut down by the Thalassian government. Not long after, however, it was revived once again with the help of Rowaena Forscythe. It lives on today under the lead of Bronvys Steeldawn and the aid of his Overseers: Anderleigh Steeldawn and Kairielle Lerathien.

Ravenwood is a tight-knit group despite it’s relatively large size, and the burdens of one are often taken on by all. While mainly looking for high-paying, high-risk contracts, it is not unknown for the group to band together to eliminate a serious threat for a fellow member. The mercenaries are often seen drinking together on their time off and finding other excuses to mingle with one another, taking to heart the thought that Ravenwood has evolved into more of a family than just a job.

The mercenary group has recently began to recruit once again - if you are interested in signing on, send Commander Bronvys Steeldawn a letter requesting an audience with one of his Overseers. You can also find us in person at the northernmost pavilion in Falconwing Square, where our Silvermoon outpost is located.

→ GENERAL OOC INFORMATION:

<The Ravenwood Company> was founded on April 15, 2013. Due to OOC and real life issues, a hiatus was taken from January 2015 until November 2017. As a guild, we focus on creating a tight knit community both IC and OOC between our members. We have a private guild discord full of shitposting and camaraderie.   We also aim to provide plenty of RP events, both mercenary contracts and social events, to appeal to many types of tastes.

While we do prefer those who are 18+, we do not require it. There are occasional dark themes that happen during some contracts in character, thus our preference of a mature playerbase.  Our only requirement is to be a real cool dude or dudette who enjoys writing and creating stories with the community.

In that application is the IC letter to the Commander, so there is no need to try to squish your request into an actual in-game mail. “Kai, no.”

Kai could feel the weight of Bron’s impassive gaze as she paced quickly around the dining hall, anger and a fair amount of Hearthglen ambrosia fueling the frenzied steps.

“Yes.  Yes.  I’m going to do it.”

“You’re going to kill Baz?”  He drawled the words she’d uttered only moments before back to her, not bothering to hide his skepticism.

“Yes!  I’m going to kill him!  I’m going to just wrap my hands around his dumb neck and–”

“You wouldn’t be able to,” Bron interjected calmly.

“Right… That idiot is stupidly big.  Stupid. Big. Troll!”  She threw her hands skyward, the motion nearly toppling her.

“Remind me again, what is it that he did to piss you off?”

“He used my favorite alchemy tome to block a snowball!  That thing is pricelust–pricelelt—”  She stopped, swaying and waving a finger in his direction.  "You know what I mean!“

“And uh… Who threw this snowball?”

She blinked, pondering.  "I think…  Yeah, it was me.“

A raven brow arched and he silently stared at her.

"The point still stands!” she bellowed belligerently.  "Death to the Baz!“

"You don’t have any weapons.  And he could crush your skull in one hand,” Bron retorted matter-of-factly.  "Of course, I’d have to kill him if he did, but still worth mentioning.“

Kai gave herself a brief pat down, looking appalled by the result.  "You’re right!  I don’t have any weapons!  What am I doing?!  How’m I going to kill that Troll without any weapons? Hey!  You have a weapon.”  With surprising agility, she sprinted toward him; even in her drunken state, she knew she’d have to be quick to wrestle the crossbow away from him.

“Alright,” he sighed, easily grabbing both of her wrists in one of his hands as she leaped toward him.  He left her dangling a few inches off the floor as she struggled, lowering her once she’d finally subsided.  "Let’s get you sobered up a bit and then we’ll see how you feel about killing Baz.  You still want to do it, I’ll loan you my crossbow.“

The ground was icy beneath her knees, blood trickling hotly from a wound in her shoulder; she couldn’t feel it.  She couldn’t feel anything.  As she’d come across the body of her best friend, something had turned off.   Broken irreparably.  And Kai was thankful.

A roar of fury tore through the sounds of the battlefield; bestial, dangerous.  Fresh crimson painted a gruesome mural upon the white canvas of the snow. The bodies were barely recognizable.  

There was no stopping him now.  

She didn’t want to.

It’d been so long since she’d stepped foot in the damned City again. Aside from a few hurried errands she’d pull a cowl over her head for to get it done as quickly and discreetly as possible… It had been a long, long time since she could spread her wings in Silvermoon. 

So long ago, she’d been a regular on the streets. She loitered around the Ravenwood Hall, she recognized people and they recognized her - for better or for worse. It was a little reluctantly that she was returning this time to do the same, after such a comfortable life of solitude with the children and Bronvys. Regardless, she was here now. She was back. Back with the children, back with Bronvys, back with Ravenwood.

Aevyn was ten years old now. A beautiful, weird little spitfire that was the embodiment of everything she and Bronvys wasn’t. In Anderleigh’s eyes, the child was perfect. She could shoot a bow now thanks to her father’s instructions. The bubbly little red-headed child had even killed her first deer recently. She showed all the signs of growing into a skilled marksman. To her mother’s relief, she had no interest in magic.

Aurorien was fourteen. Despite the obvious traits of her father that she’d had from birth - the black hair, most prominently, Anderleigh refused to acknowledge them. Every day, the priestess saw more and more of Rowaena in her features. She even had the same affinity for gaudy, ugly clothing as her birth mother did. Still just as quiet and timid as she was as a younger child, Rory contrasted Aevyn’s personality starkly. Her preference for blending into the background was only amplified by Auntie Calliren’s tutoring to be a spy.

The two girls were just as inseparable as years before. Aevyn dragged the older girl around and forced her to be social. Rory was responsible enough to keep Aevyn out of -too- much trouble; she knew when the future huntress was going too far with the mischief. Despite how vastly different they were, they balanced each other perfectly. 

Arvek was four now. His raven hair was eternally disheveled just like his father’s, hanging down limp around his face. While he wasn’t quite matured enough to hang out with his older sisters, he definitely had an attachment to Rory. Perhaps it was just their similar basic features; their long dark hair and scrawny forms. He wasn’t quite old enough to grasp the concept that Rory wasn’t his blood, not that it mattered. He was learning to read and he could count to twenty. Anderleigh feared that he was far too smart for his own good.

She’d finished cleaning the old apartment they kept in Silvermoon. The furniture was dusted, the floor was swept and mopped, and the kid’s toys and books were all in their respective places (for the moment). She’d even ventured out to stock their pantry and commissioned more Ravenwood tabards to be sewn. Nostalgia was a very vehement feeling for now, but she knew it would soon fade as the new memories would eventually replace the old ones.

Time to spread her wings again.

Forscythe Villa

The door slammed shut behind the large elf as he hastily made his way down the hall. He had left his large room fairly clean, surprisingly, even cleaned up a few of the children’s toys that were scattered about. Heavy mail footprints echoed throughout the halls of the main keep in Forscythe Villa as Bronvys passed the windows that looked out on the rest of the island, crossbow and quiver on his back. He made his way to another door, leading him outside of the keep and beginning alongside the wall. On his right, the ocean with Sholozar Basin far on the horizon. On his left, he kept his gaze upon the multitudes of buildings, hills, homes, workstations, guards, and civilians of the Villa which adorned green and black Ravenwood flags.

His eyes passed over the church, remembering far back when Ithios and Inglor had run into the burning disaster to save children while the Villa was under siege. The memories of the grey and red sky, the smell of smoke and blood. He stared at it for far too long, nearly missing his turn off down the steps toward the bottom. A few guards, all with the Ravenwood tabard, gave Bronvys a small nod as he walked past. It had taken him ages to tell them to stop saluting the giant elf; it made him feel too much like a lord. A loud grunt escaped him as the raven haired man dressed in all black and green continued down the path, and was soon joined by a higher ranking guard of the Villa. 

“Sir, we found a boat of mercenaries off the coast. He boarded and took one of them alive. He said they got information of our place from one of our guards. We have both of them locked in the du--.” “Kill them both.” Bronvys spat out, interrupting the guard. Bronvys had turned right, heading in toward the Magi study as the guard left without question to carry out the order. As he entered the build, Anderleigh was already awaiting by a portal to Silvermoon City, bags packed. Rory and Aevyn stood nearby with their own packs. Arvek, sleeping soundly in Anderleigh’s arm. Anderleigh looked exhausted, eyes nearly lulling shut. That didn’t stop her, however, from having everything ready to go on time in preparation to head back to Silvermoon. Of course she was on time, however. Bronvys had not asked her as her husband to be ready. He had ordered her as her Commander.

Bring Arrows

It had been a long, long time since Bronvys had left the Forscythe Villa. Aside from a few trips into the city to check out their Silvermoon loft, Bronvys had stayed within the Villa with Rory, Aevyn, and Arvek. It had been nearly 6, 7, 8 years since he had sold Ravenwood.  In truth, he had stopped counting the time. The green and black banners that flew over the banner were packed away and replaced with the Forscythe house banners that Rory would soon own. The guards that once wore Ravenwood armour to protect the villa were also now adorned in the House colours, though they still served the whole family as best they could. Walking down the old, poorly lit hall of the keep on the tiny island off the coast of Sholozar Basin, Bronvys traced his armoured index finger along the crack of the brick, lost in thought as he aimlessly wandered. Kairielle.

He thought suddenly. He hadn’t spoken to the woman in many weeks. On top of that, the children having Calliren has their only aunt to be influential to them could -not- be a good thing. He let out a small grunt to himself, and quickly moved toward his office.

“Auntie! Are you going to spy on some bad guys?” A young voice called from the nearby bed. 

“Auntie” Calliren had graciously taken two very lucky children on a field trip out of the pure kindness of her own heart. They had unfortunately arrived at night and were forced to stay the night at a city Inn.

“Aevyn, like I’ve said twenty times…” She sighed, gaze flickering to the young elf. “We’re here so I can pick up a few thing and you and Arvek can learn something.” And piss off Bronvys in the process. 

She smirked at the thought, well aware of her brother’s protests of the entire trip. He didn’t seem to trust her, and she was always one to prove a point. Walking past the sleeping Arvek, she once again tucked Aevyn into bed. “Now get some rest kid, it’ll be a big day tomorrow.” She grunted, offering a firm nod to the child whose eyes seemed to grow into two moons.

“Yeah bu-” Aevyn began before being interrupted by a narrowed eye. Letting out a small ‘huff’, the stern rogue was obeyed at last.

Calliren shifted her attention to a nearby journal, flipping through a few of the dusty pages for what seemed like ages before light snores met her ears.

Finally.

Book still in hand, she stealthily walked over to the window that overlooked a dusty Orgrimmar street. A cold breeze was shifting its way through the dark and gloomy city, sending a chill down Calliren’s spine. Without a second thought, she brought the window to a close, successfully shutting out the wind and leaving the family safe in silence.

Before heading to her own bed, Calliren rested the book on the table, dusted off her leather-bound hands, and triple checked the lock on the door.

The last thing she needed was for her brother to be proven right.
