Elijah paused where he was taking her in. He was still speechless that someone as beautiful as Brooke was even interested in him, but they were creating a family together. “Do you need me to get you anything?” He asked her knowing that she was his first concern especially if she was feeling sick. “My surprise can wait until you’re feeling better, Brooke.”

“I’m fine. The baby just decided to be mad that I drank water this morning,” Brooke promised with a sigh. Maybe she should have expected it, but Taylor hadn’t made it sound quite so bad. “And we have an appointment on Monday, so it’ll be fine, I promise.” She added with a small smile, making her way over to him. “C’mon, what’s the surprise?”

Elijah already knew what Brooke was going to say as he put the bags down in the front foyer before looking around for her. “I have some surprises for you!” He offered up as he walked through the house.

Turned out, morning sickness was a real bitch. If only because every time Brooke thought she was over it, it came back to spite her. She should have heard the car pull up, but she didn’t. Leaning against the bathroom counter, Brooke sighed, pulling her hair back as she sat up in time to hear Elijah. Rinsing her mouth out she stood and wandered into the hall to find him. “Yeah, I’m here.” She called out. “What did you do?”

“Excuse me, I have Charlotte and I was first. I don’t think Reagan is ready to add to our own little family just yet, so the rest of you are on your own,” Max pointed out smiling widely. He was happy to see each of his siblings happy and starting their own families. “Brooke if I could believe in James as a teenager believing in you is as easy as breathing. And you always have me.”

“Yeah, I know. Hard to forget.” Brooke rolled her eyes. “To be fair, Reagan’s like, my age, and this one was an accident I’m choosing to think of as happy. I don’t blame her for not being super ready yet,” she admitted. Things would work out how they were meant to. It was a weird feeling to have after so long. “I’ve heard that from you and from Taylor now, was he that bad? but I know I do. And believe me, that’s everything.”

“You’re incredible with the twins, I wouldn’t trust them with just anyone yet I wouldn’t think twice about leaving them with you,” Taylor reminded her knowing just how amazing her sister would be. “What matters though if how happy you are.”

“Believe me, it means the world you and Xander trust me so much with them. They mean everything to me,” Brooke admitted. “I’m happy. And scared, and have this constant feeling of wanting to cry. It’s kind of everything at once, is that normal?”

“Yeah I wouldn’t be that surprised if she has. But that doesn’t mean I won’t start spoiling our little one,” He reminded her in amusement. “Are you happy, Brooke? I know I’m over the moon, but I want to make sure you are too.”

“We’re going to have to move just for an extra room of baby stuff, aren’t we?” Brooke asked with a sigh, though it was mostly a joke. If it ended up being necessary, she wouldn’t be too upset about it. “I am very happy. I didn’t think I’d ever get to have kids so I never thought about it, but this one...I’m really excited for.”

Taylor quickly took the sonograms to quickly look at the little sack on the glossy picture. She could feel herself tearing up as she looked back up to her twin. “Brookie….you’re going to be so incredible at this. And I’m sorry to tell you but you’re not going to be Elijah’s number one anymore, but trust me it’s so worth it. Seeing Xander with the kids is literally everything to me.”

Brooke didn’t realize she was holding her breath until her sister looked back up at her, and she let out a relieved laugh as she caught her breath. “I don’t know about that, I’m honestly terrified. But I hope I’m not miserable at it,” she admitted. “I think I’m okay with that. He’s going to be so happy.”

“Taylor and I are bullshitting it just as much as you will be, and that’s what being a parent is. You’re never going to be perfect, but as long as they’re fed and cared for it’s what matters. And whenever you need a helping hand I’m a call away.”

“We’re all having babies at once. It’s like we made some weird, sibling procreation pact or something.” Brooke joked weakly. She couldn’t believe either of her siblings were bullshitting it, they were so great with their kids. “Thank you, Max. For everything, but mostly just believing in me. I don’t know why you do, but I appreciate it.”

“I promise to not get overly excited and go out and buy five thousand things yet, but I want to,” Elijah reached up to rub her chin tenderly, “You’re the best thing that ever happened to me, babe.”

“I’m not convinced that Taylor hasn’t beaten you to it already, actually.” Brooke admitted with a small smile, “you’re alright, I guess.” She joked, laughing. “I love you.”

“Wait…y-you’re pregnant?” Taylor asked as her smile quickly grew, “That’s fantastic!”

“Yeah, I am.” Brooke admitted with a small laugh, and she felt her eyes water on their own. Stupid hormones. “I’m not very far or anything, but it was confirmed. Oh, that reminds me.” She paused, reaching down into her purse to pull out the ultrasound. “I haven’t shown Elijah this yet, but..” She trailed off, handing it to her sister.

“I mean for me I didn’t have the same fears. But I was constantly terrified something would happen to her mother while she was carrying her.”

“I mean, even after it’s here I could do something. It’s not exactly like I ever knew a solid role model for this stuff.” Brooke sighed. “What if I’m not as good at this as you and Taylor are?”

“His ego doesn’t need the help,” Taylor pointed out laughing lightly in amusement, “But what’s the news?”

“Auntie Taylor is going to be an aunt again.”

“I’d be lying to you if I told you I wasn’t nervous when I found out about Charlotte. It was terrifying, but she’s so worth it.”

“I don’t know how you and Taylor did it. Every second I’m worried that I’ll do something to hurt it.”

“I’m almost hurt that you didn’t even think about the fact that I have to go all out and spoil our baby,” Elijah teased as he pressed a kiss to her forehead, “It doesn’t feel real to have my dreams come true.”

“I’ve been so worried about something going wrong that I haven’t thought about much else.” Brooke admitted with a sigh.

“I guess James can be a part of it too,” Taylor teased as she shifted to hug her sister for a moment.

“Just for his ego,” Brooke laughed, hugging her sister, “I do have some news, though.”

“You know that they’re both going to be over the moon for you, right?” Max asked her wanting to be sure that she did know, “They love you.”

“I hope so,” Brooke sighed, biting her lip. “I’m really nervous about all of this, Max.”
