The veteran culture writer will release the book through Amistad Books.
My debut book is on the way!
I’m a Louisiana girl. I grew up eating king cake. I don’t live in La anymore, but I carry my home with me always. Earlier this year, my aunt tapped me and said she heard I know where to get a good cake. I told her I could make her one. I was feeling bold. Shocked myself. Anyways, I made it!
For the last 10 years, I've been making valentines inspired by women in hip-hop. Here are some of my more recent ones.
Toni Morrison wrote "A Knowing So Deep" to Black women for the May 1985 issue of Essence.
I scanned an excerpt.
I was at an antique store and found the Nov. 1, 1954 issue of Life. Dorothy Dandridge was the first Black woman to be on the magazine's cover.
