Nature reclaiming nature
happy earth day 🐦🌱🦋
These days, the climate crisis seems so daunting, so horrifying, that there's nothing we can do. But inaction will solve nothing.
Below are various U.S organizations, mainly regional orgs and small nonprofits, that fight for the little guys--together, we can preserve and protect the wonderful world of invertebrates. But only if we work together.

Things we can do to celebrate Earth Day! (and carry the spirit of Earth Day throughout the year) 🌿
~purchase items locally rather than online
~pick up trash at your local park or in your neighborhood
~walk, bike, or take public transportation
~plant native plants and pollinator attractors
~hang dry your clothing
~ recycle your plastic, glass, and cardboard
~upcycle clothing you don’t love anymore instead of throwing it away/replacing it
~borrow plant seeds from your local library
~volunteer at your local community garden
~eat meals with alternative protein instead of meat
~make and put out a hummingbird feeder
~shop secondhand/thrifted, and/or join swap meets and buy nothing groups
~grocery shop at the farmers market
~reuse your glass jars
~make vegetable stock from produce discard
-donate to conservation efforts
~support and enjoy our national parks and forests (win-win!)

"A sign installed in the largest wildfire burn I’ve ever seen, along the BC/YK border. Borrowing the aesthetics of BC Recreation Site signs, once again pointing to the overlaps of outdoor recreation, resource extraction, and the consequences of the climate crisis. Most recreation sites in BC exist along previously built logging and mining roads.
“Forced into a great and difficult transformation” was a line I heard in a lecture on Buddhist philosophy I was listening to on my drive up north. But it became another mantra I thought about while living in a place that’s been utterly transformed by resource extraction over the past century, and as I thought about the burnt landscapes I drove through."
More here.
Heads up everyone! This artist is selling prints of this piece for a fundraiser for incarcerated wildfire fighters working in LA currently and you can get a small one (8x10) for $50CAD or a large (16x20) for $100CAD including shipping. I just ordered a large one!
