Big Projects
I am currently hosting ScrubClan Daily, a Clangen blog that updates every evening with a new moon!
My biggest project ever is the Clans of the Granite Circle (which I made a short overview post for tumblr) that has 10 Clans, three Orders, and currently well over 600 characters. Most of my doodles are cats from that project. the #granite circle tag should hold everything
Elementsign / Guildlands info post. A fantasy sandbox world where I can play with sparklecats and cats made of clouds.
(Currently I'm playing around with BloodClan (no connection to canon BloodClan), another edgy sparklecat setting. I just really, really like Sparklecats. And magic. It's not an addiction, it's a hobby)
Game sideblogs!!
@brownie-gives-cats where I make free warrior cat OCs for anyone who shoots me an ask! I am ADDICTED to making characters so please indulge my obsession and stop on by.
@brownie-rates-names where I rate your warrior names on a scale 1-10. Try to get a high score!
It's almost Artfight, yall know what that means...
training arc timeeee
Expect quite a few arts in experimental styles n stuff in the coming weeks as I relearn how to hold a pen <3 I think I'm going to borrow some favorite Clangen comic characters to do fanart with as my test subjects... I've been wanting to do some fanart for some of my favorite comics for a while now, and well. Two birds one stone, amiright?
(If yall have any suggestions of cats I should draw from your favorite comics, lmk~ I'm hoping to do like... 10-20 doodles over the weekend and I only have a half dozen comics that I've already decided on doing art for~)
Hello all I come bearing gifts! I want to get to know our younger cast a little better, so alongside one of this week's moon updates, I'm going to write a full scene (with dialogue and everything //gasp) from the POV of one of the Clan's apprentices! And you guys get to choose which kitty gets to be the star!
I'm most likely going to be writing the short wednesday night, so whoever has the most votes by then will win <3
Doing some tests in genemod for a config set that always generates a kitten with an identical twin. Still needs some tweaking, but I really want to make a challenge run story with the concept that every cat is born with a mirror image <3
Cosmet is in the same world as my edgy magical sparklecat playground BloodClan. She's such a cutie pie!! She's bringing some cats to revive a ruined city in a haunted forest aint that fun <3
Hello furends! After seasons of silence, StarClan has finally spoken!
Camp has been reinforced with fresh materials and a sparkling new look. The forest feels more lively than ever, with the gentle breeze and soft birdsong uplifting cats' spirits. Clanmates are gathering to discuss the day's activities, but some can't shake the feeling they're being watched...
ClanGen v0.13.0 has released and can be downloaded from here!
ClanGen's 0.13.0 update includes...
- A redesigned UI to make navigation easier!
- A new and improved relationship system! Cats' feelings towards each other will be a lot more varied and complicated.
- Music and ambience designed to make the gameplay as immersive as possible!
- New poses for newborns and long-furred apprentices!
An unseasonable storm hits the Clans, the type that comes once a generation and reshapes the land around it, the type that reminds a warrior of StarClan's strength, the type that births stories that will be told for years to come.
ScrubClan is lucky. Every cat can see the clouds, feel the change in pressure, hear the winds start to howl, but Crocusfox is the one to raise the alarm, certain that ScrubClan needs to evacuate their camp for something more sheltered.
ScrubClan is lucky, because Snowstar listens. Within minutes, the Clan is gathered for evacuation tasks to be delegated. Within the hour, everything that can be carried is packed up. As the solid wall of dust bears down, Snowstar and Thymebush help the less-confident climbers up the side of a nearby butte while Lindenhope and Sycamorenewt push rocks aside to try and carve enough space for fifteen cats in the shallow cavern.
It's a tight squeeze, especially as the healers brought their rarest herbs and the apprentices as much fresh-kill as they could carry, just in case. It's not comfortable, but every cat is grateful to Crocusfox's caution as the dust storm rages outside.
When the winds finally die down, ScrubClan cats slowly trickle out of their bolt-hole, stretching aches from cramped limbs. The steppe is decimated: the corpses of shrubs and cacti are strewn about, tangled root balls exposed to air like so many worms; debris catches in clumps, sticks, dust, and stones creating fresh dunes and hills; on the hilltops, swaths of ground are stripped down to the rough sandstone underneath, the sand atop having been added to the dust storm's pelt as it sprinted past.
ScrubClan's camp doesn't fare much better. The nursery and healer's den, both mostly underground, are filled with sand and the bedding is shredded, but are otherwise untouched. But the other dens, formed of tangles of shrubbery and woven branches, are gone. Gone, like they'd been plucked up by a massive eagle's claws, leaving only rugged holes where they once were.
But ScrubClan is lucky, because they saved most of their prey, and all of their cats thanks to Crocusfox's early warning, Snowstar's leadership skills, and Lindenhope's planning. And so despite the cataclysmic storm, they gather their spirits and begin to rebuild.
At the Gathering...
The storm had broken on BoulderClan's mountains with the full force of their fury, and whatever they'd withstood on the steppes was minor compared to the damage done to BoulderClan's territory.
It's past moonhigh when ScrubClan and HoundClan finally make it to the Gathering, their usual paths blocked by huge swaths of debris, fallen trees, and unstable ground. When they arrive, they find only the young BoulderClan warrior, Nightjarleaf, who informs them that BoulderClan will not be formally attending the Gathering and to go on without them.
The resulting Gathering is very brief. Thymebush, Nightjarleaf, Broomspring and Eggplantpaw end up seated together, and for once the proximity of ScrubClan and HoundClan cats doesn't result in insults as the cats quietly commiserate over the storm and how much time it will take to repair their camps.
In HoundClan...
HoundClan was least impacted by the storm, as their camp is well sheltered and their territory hilly enough to break the worst of the straightline winds. They end up rescuing an absolutely massive white-and-chestnut colored tomcat from a tunnel that had collapsed in on him, and the young rogue, Kuma, ends up staying with the Clan to help with repairs, as he has no where else to go.
In BoulderClan...
BoulderClan was hit the hardest in the storm. Only their kittens escaped without injury. They hadn't noticed the storm until it was upon them, and many cats were injured attempting to get to safer ground. Grasswatcher dies protecting his kits, and Beetlestar loses a life to save Gingerlilac. Ringletsplash's back is broken when he is struck by debris, and Oriolenip's shoulder is gouged by a falling tree.
While trying desperately to hunt, Nightjarleaf finds a dead queen and some kits amidst the wreckage. Only one kit still survives, and Nightjarleaf brings him back to camp... even if he's not sure the weakened Clan can provide for him.
Injuries
Owletpaw - yellowcough
Ratbramble - dislocated paw
Beetlestar - shock, grieving
Astershock - whitecough, torn pelt
Gingerlilac - infected broken bone
Oriolenip - wounded
Ringletsplash - broken back
Bughowl - ear infection
Poplarkit - kittencough
(Nightjarleaf, Grousepaw and Pikepaw are bruised, but still on their paws)
Major changes
None in ScrubClan

Beetlestar loses a life
Slugkit is adopted into the Clan after being orphaned
A rather quiet moon passes as the summer's growth begins to fade. It will be well into the winter months before the grasses go dormant, if at all--some mild years, even the trees keep most their leaves.
Crocusfox is relieved to find her paw finally healed after six long moons of rest. The senior warrior isn't getting any younger, and she's anxious to get back out onto the territory while she is still able to join patrols. Eager to prove herself fully capable, Crocusfox takes the hardest job on the hunting patrol: cutting a ground squirrel off from its burrow and isolating it from the scurry so that Lionspirit and Snowstar can make the kill. The three cats are proud of their catch, and Crocusfox is more than happy to brag about the catch to Vervainkit and Roachkit, who are both rightfully enthralled by the story.
"It would be easier if you kept your tail down."
Lionspirit bristles. "Shut up, Flamepaw. You don't know what you're talking about."
"I don't need a warrior's training to know what you're doing is mouse-brained."
The dark warrior growls and only barely holds his tongue against sharper words. Ignore him, Lionspirit reminds himself, expelling a huffed breath to try and manage his frustration.
Unfortunately, Flamepaw doesn't share the same restraint. "Seriously, is that what Snowstar taught you?"
It was one thing to try and correct a warrior, but insulting their leader was a step too far. Flamepaw doesn't even see Lionspirit move, but suddenly the dark tomcat is pinning him down as Flamepaw gasps for air. "Don't try and lecture me on things you don't understand."
"Enough, let him up." Hawthornrose's deep rumble startles them both, Lionspirit's claws curling reflexively into Flamepaw's shoulders. The healer tries not to wince.
"But--"
"I heard it all," the large tomcat interrupts. "And don't get me wrong, I'm totally on your side, Lionspirit."
"Hey," Flamepaw huffs. Both warriors ignore him.
"But that's no reason to tackle a healer who can't defend himself."
"Still here," Flamepaw whines.
Lionspirit sighs and lets him up. Flamepaw gets to his paws quickly, shaking off dust with a scowl. Hawthornrose steps between the two, turning his back on Flamepaw as he directs Lionspirit away. "The tail isn't the issue, but your footwork. Great StarClan did Snowstar ever take you to balance the pillars?"
Flamepaw and Lionspirit get into a small tussle. Hawthornrose privately takes Lionspirit's side, but does his job as an adult and breaks up the fight.
Lindenhope can't avoid Eggplantkit when they're both stuck in the healer's den and it doesn't take long for the extroverted kitten to whittle down the deputy's lackluster protests, triumphantly forcing him to share his nest and cuddle her to sleep. Snowstar tries again to convince Lindenhope that he and Eggplantkit are a good match for each other, but any hope of a productive conversation goes south when the kitten wakes up and complains that she wants Snowstar for a mentor, not boring Lindenhope.
A few days later, Thymebush visits Lindenhope in the healer's den. She starts speculating on mentor pairs, and at first Lindenhope tries to deflect the conversation, but Thymebush stubbornly continues.
"At first, I did blame you for Sagepaw's death," Thymebush says bluntly. "She was my only daughter, and I trusted you to protect her." Lindenhope flinches, and the grey warrior pushes her advantage. "It was easy to put the blame on your shoulders, but even back then I knew deep down that it wasn't really your fault. That if you couldn't save her, Lindenhope, then no cat could.
"I don't blame you for Sagepaw, and despite what happened, I still don't regret putting my daughter's safety in your paws. And I know Sycamorenewt feels the same way. I know you would do anything for these kits, and I know you know that too. You need to move on."
Lindenhope has a few days to mull over Thymebush's words in (relative) peace before she and Sycamorenewt escort a grouchy Hawthornrose into the nest beside his, the large warrior's leg covered in scratches and bites. He'd been using the empty tunnel to store prey in for moons, but the badger that had moved in gave him a harsh reminder to always double check a burrow before sticking ones nose inside.
At the Gathering...
Emberstar of HoundClan finally makes her own announcements, for what feels like the first time this year. Gingerlilac comes to the Gathering with his leg bound in a cast, brushing off the other healers' reprimands and reminding them that the Gathering place isn't really that far from BoulderClan's camp compared to the other two.
(Sycamorenewt doesn't believe that he broke his leg from a simple accident and tries to subtly grill Gingerlilac to catch him in the lie... luckily Gingerlilac only thinks the ScrubClan healer is overly concerned, not that she suspects he's trying to cover for Beetlestar)
In HoundClan...
Emberstar finally recovers from her bout of fatigue and returns to her duties as HoundClan's leader, taking over for a much-relieved Ptarmigantoe, who swears she's going to sleep for a moon. Ratbramble passes his assessments and is named a warrior!
In BoulderClan...
Gingerlilac breaks his leg after the older tom loses his balance trying to climb a tree far too small to support his weight. Nightjarpaw's mangled tail grows infected.
Maybe I shouldn't have modded litters on for this... Kittens!! I can't believe Sycamorenewt had so many, or that Lindenhope would bring home three more this moon on top of that! What a surprise! And another reason I love playing in real time <3
I will warn yall not to get too attached to any one kitten before they're weaned; with modded litters, about half the kittens will fade before then. I'm going to keep on modded litters until then, because seven kits is A Lot of Characters and I kinda need to let the game choose which one to keep, but I might turn modded litters off after that (smaller litters, but no chance of fading, similar to base Clangen.) Thoughts?
Oh and for anyone curious, the father of Sycamorenewt's litter is the loner that was wandering on the borders, Thermodynamics.
Also while we're here, have images for Flamepaw and for the new cat Mew!
I'm super excited to share this experience with yall! I'm going to try my best to keep updates short and sweet while giving each character their chance to shine and having a nice cozy style. Things should settle in a few days once the characters have time to make a personality for themselves.
Please do interact with ScrubClan! Because this project updates daily, your asks can and will impact the cats and the story. I'd love for this project to feel community-driven and collaborative.
Yo I started a daily Clangen blog!! It's nothing fancy, but hopefully it'll be fun!
My goal is to make it feel like a Clangen file everyone is kinda playing together? Instead of a more traditional Clangen comic blog that is there to tell a story, I'd love for ScrubClan to be a place where everyone can participate in building characters and narrative!
