Carol DaRonch at the trial of Ted Bundy - the trial began 42 years ago today on February 23rd 1976

At the beginning of this trial, Ted Bundy was consumed by hubris. He truly believed he would be found not guilty and walk free. As it turned out, the evidence was damning. Carol DaRonch began to cry when she was asked to point out her attacker in court. Bundy only stared coldly at Carol DaRonch as she recounted the terror she endured by his hand.

The trauma she recalled was very similar to the experiences of other women who survived attacks by Ted Bundy. Kathy Kleiner, who was attacked by Bundy in the Chi Omega sorority house, suffered from pain all her life after Bundy broke her jaw and left her for dead that night. Another survivor was Joni Lenz, attacked in 1974 Bundy forced a metal rod from her bed frame into her vagina.
