“Capitalists should never be allowed near a health-care system. They hold sick children hostage as they force parents to bankrupt themselves in the desperate scramble to pay for medical care. The sick do not have a choice. Medical care is not a consumable good. We can choose to buy a used car or a new car, shop at a boutique or a thrift store, but there is no choice between illness and health.”
— Chris Hedges, “This Isn’t Reform, It’s Robbery” from The World As It Is: Dispatches on the Myth of Human Progress
that whole “i dont care” act is dead and tired. you dont have emotions? cool. go seek therapy and be toxic somewhere else
scottish twitter wins yet again
honestly life is all about the little things that u barely even notice, that delicious coffee u had in the morning, ur friend randomly pinching ur cheek, the moon shining brighter than usual, the radio playing your favorite song. pay more attention to these details!!! they make life worth living
I just learned this but Sanders’ website has an “anti-endorsements” page which I consider absolutely excellent. This is the thing that makes him tolerable for me tbh, I would love to shift the American metapolitical landscape to the point where we start recognizing that realpolitik rather than bipartisanship is the guiding principle
lmao this rules

“I was struck again by the deep quiet of the countryside, the absence of any human sounds; my mind still expected the clamor of cars, voices, all the clatter of nonstop human movement. Here was only the hushed patter of the drizzle, the call of birds in faraway trees. The air was impossibly sweet, like wine. A crow called from somewhere, its voice dark and throaty.”
— Simone St. James, The Haunting of Maddy Clare
