Ok so I mentioned this on discord BUT
What if there’s another shadow in book 3, and what if it’s Hanya? Think about how this will affect the entire plot. Hanya is the only one in the group with no intention to kill Rusty whatsoever, and is by far the most morally pure. At least, to our knowledge. Now the shadow rapports do put these characters into the shoes of darkness and we can see what may bring them to the point of hypothetically turning to Fenris. What would Hanya’s wish be? Here’s my biggest guesses:
1. Bringing down her corrupt family; that could be her wish, and if she failed to get the axe to the last one in the bloodline, then she’d have a backup plan.
2. Protecting Notia; she cares about Notia, whether or not she rules it. If she was that concerned and happened to come upon a wish that could assure her of her goal, she might take it.
So hypothetically, we have our shadow Hanya. But how would the characters react? Our biggest players at the moment are Rusty, Ananke, Eugene, and Perenna to a slightly lesser extent.
Rusty has become aware of Hanya’s noble intentions over the course. This contrasts his earlier attitude where he (ironically) trusted her the least. Would he have what it takes to deal with her, though? Yes. It’s also not that hard considering she’s part of the family that killed his, and he still probably isn’t sure of how much she would have been in the know.
Ananke would be surprised. She expected Hanya to be infallible and too strong to be tempted. Yet I think she’d also be understanding, especially having made her own pact out of desperation. She’d believe Hanya’s reasons were fair. Ananke’s currently at a standstill with where her actions will lead her. But there’s no real reason for her to deal with Hanya unless the latter affects her goals. She wants to use the axe to help free her of shadow, and heck she might even convince Hanya to do the same.
Eugene, now he’s the wild card. He’s interesting because of why he’s so devoted to Hanya. It’s not out of romantic ambitions or blind loyalty to the country à la Camus. He’s devoted because he knows her principles are just and that her goodness makes her a perfect fit to rule. But that goodness is cracked with the reveal of her shadow pact. So it depends now on if Eugene is more attached to Hanya, or his idea of Hanya. If he chooses Hanya, he’d lay down his life to protect her, and believe that she could still do good as a shadow. But if his expectations are shattered, he might be distraught, or angry. He’d go against her because everything he believed was a lie. But if he fought her, it would still be with regret nevertheless.
Perenna probably wouldn’t really care. Her goal is getting paid for the job, and her role has nothing to do with Hanya whatsoever. I bet she’d be take aback similar with Ananke, but not enough to have her actions affected in any way.
If Hanya doesn’t want to be the princess, and Rusty (possibly) doesn’t want to be the princess, maybe Eugene should be the princess. Ever thought of that doberman? I know he can do a mean princess wave and he already has that oh ho ho ojousama vibe.
Eugene’s rapport conversations sound so obnoxious and I love that for him. Talking about his long list of qualifications, his prestigious upbringing, his shadow form crashing out over the potential future of Hanya not becoming queen, he’s just fantastic. I’m so so glad that we did NOT get stoic knight with no personality outside of their lord with him. We’ve seen that sort of personality a lot in fire emblem, so this twist is rather intriguing. His ambitions for getting Hanya to rule are evident, but he still has agency as a character to express ideas unique to him!
Him and also Ananke got some great characterization in fe shadows, with the story and their personal rapports revealing different parts of themselves. Ananke being the so called Ms. Popular and being upbeat and cute while also being able to appear bitter and unhinged. I really hope she stays on the path of darkness without some sort of backtracking. But then again, being a triple agent is pretty badass. STILL. I prefer her to be evil. She’d be too similar to Estel if they went with her redeeming herself. I want her to go out bitter and desperate, to really sell the tragedy of her situation and not being able to see the light even if it’s in front of her😔 Ananke is so fun especially when she acts unhinged
Book 3 has to be my favorite book so far because of all the colorful characters. Yuyo so far is the only one I have a neutral opinion of mostly since she reminds me a lot of Bernadetta who I don’t really like. But I do think it’s fun to imagine Yuyo as a fanfic writer who probably thinks Eugene and Rusty have romantic chemistry like us delusional Rusty x Eugene shippers (me) :3

In a majority of Fire Emblem games, whenever we get a male/female pair, the woman wears a skirt while the man wears pants.
In a shocking, admirable twist, Shadows book 3 flips the script with Hanya and Eugene.
BECAUSE HANYA HAS PANTS WOOHOO
Therefore it stands to reason that Eugene is the one to wear a skirt

Yayyyy first question!!
I’ve got a few guesses! Bat is probably the most obvious considering Embla’s bat theming and his sister already being a bat in the game. It’s also my favorite choice for him since I think bats are really cool.
I considered wolf (mostly for the wolf tearing off the shirt meme), but we’ve been getting quite a few wolves and I wouldn’t want wolves to be too overused.
I also considered crows for him considering the heavy feather imagery! Although we do have Zasha as a crow there’s no one else atm who is so it wouldn’t feel overdone.
The other thing I thought about was owls. Now, Feh is more associated with Askr, but Bruno shares a lot of qualities with many common assumptions about owls. He’s wise and associated with magic. He can be an ominous presence due to his stoicism and intimidating regality. He’s a cunning, quiet fighter and always one step ahead.

I don’t think Bruno’s art progression in terms of character development is appreciated. From his base (technically released last, but the art is far older) to his spring and for now, his winter, we see Bruno become less closed off and cold and more outgoing and even jovial.
Base Bruno- Misery Binds Character
Bruno’s facial expressions and movements give off a serious yet smug aura. His smile are never genuine, only intimidating. His body language betrays no weakness. Bruno is on his guard and wants people to see that he is a threat. This Bruno also cares little for his own life (“Curse me all you like!”), and fights not for freedom but to eventually bring an end. His dialogue actually betrays his true feelings of hopelessness despite his rigid poses and prideful expressions. This is Bruno at his lowest.
Spring Bruno- Reflections
Bruno is more visibly somber in that neutral art, and even his dialogue is softer. One of his quotes on the map, “So warm…”, showcases the melancholy of his life but also how he appreciates being able to bask in the light for even a moment. His arts are a bit more playful, and his special art even contains a real smile that isn’t caked by false superiority. He may act embarrassed over the outfit, but he’s also more approachable.
Winter Bruno- Something to Live For
Winter Bruno is the first Bruno alt where the majority of his expressions are smiles, and his neutral portrait is actually…happy! In this alt, his expressions and body language are inviting and fun. His special art has him at his happiest! Winter Bruno’s dialogue is very sweet here, like appreciating spending this night with the summoner and him not wanting to spoil the fun for the children. His defeat quote lamenting the loss of the gifts is genuinely adorable, as he has grown to care for something that base Bruno would consider minute.
It’s a shame he’s featured so little in the actual story because he has kind of a nice arc between his playable units!

Ok but for real though feh should’ve ended with Bruno being comforted after undergoing insane trauma in both childhood and adulthood and he should be getting married to someone who will love him forever and never hurt him.
