Bio:
Amadi, daughter of John Hawthorne and Lorraine Hawthorne, was born into the life that any other person would have dreamed of. What with John being the owner of an incredibly prestigious and very succesfull law firm and Lorraine being one of the best models in her time, she grew up in one of the finest houses imaginable, with the finest food, the finest education… everything she had was perfect. Apart from one tiny detail. Nobody actually loved her. At least, that was the way it seemed. Ignored for the most part, she was used as something of a trophy to show off at social gatherings, a silent ghost of a girl that looked relatively pretty in a dress. She remained in the shadows, hoping that one day they would eventually swallow her. She wondered if they actually would, and if anybody would actually notice if she were to just suddenly disappear. It seemed unlikely. Eventually, the couple became too embarassed by their daughters mute prescense at their social gatherings and stopped bringing her.
And so, Amadi grew up ignored, locked up in her bedroom, left to study and play by herself in the eerie silence of the not so humble abode of which she resided in. But in a way, this solitary confinement was something of a… positive thing. That way, she didn’t have to deal with all of those narrow minded people who talked about the same ugly things every day of the week. She was left alone in her bedroom with her cello, an instrument that she had learned to call her best friend. But not to people, no. Just to herself. She wasn’t a person. She didn’t deserve to be called a person. She was just a half life, wired up to her cello, leeching off of it.
However, this kind of lack of socialization can do horrible things to your head. Whenever she was released from her room, Amadi displayed incredibly odd habits. She didn’t eat, she didn’t sleep, she didn’t speak, she didn’t smile, she didn’t do anything but play that cello. But when she did play, the melancholy that she wallowed within was finally displayed. She played the saddest music…
But nobody noticed. Nobody ever saw her to notice. John and Lorraine just kept her holed up in that bedroom of hers.
For a long time, perhaps a week or two, not even John or Lorraine saw Amadi. For once, they decided to tramp their way up the stairs and finally bothered to see their daughter. They found her, in a pool of her own blood.
Still, they didn’t care. Once she was out of hospital, they scolded her over and over and sent her away to Brunswick. They thought that perhaps throwing her in right at the deep end, a high school, would ‘sort her out’, let her express herself freely without the possibility of shaming the family. And just perhaps make her ‘normal’ again. And so, Amadi got exactly the opposite of what she desired. Her suicide attempt had been a desperate cry out for help, a desperate cry for help from someone that just wished to be loved, just wished to be held.
Personality:
Amadi is something of an…odd character. She retains this expressionless, emotionless appearance at practically all times, not daring to show a smile unless she really has to. She can appear, at times, to be something of a freak, behaving in ways not percieved as being that of the norm. She rarely speaks of herself and prefers just to listen. But she will engage actively in conversation, she has learned that much since being released from the confines of her own bedroom. Amadi though, still has alot to learn. She’s impressionable, vulnerable, and in all honesty, a very sad half-life. She continues to drink heavily - a habit she picked up from sneaking downstairs every so often and grabbing the first things she saw before dashing away again, self mutilate and go without food for days. On top of this, Amadi enjoys…closeness. This means she’s willing to do everything and anything to share the warmth of another.
None, as she's just arrived.
