@brxkenxwings-blog
She didn’t think this through - he’s blocking her escape route and she realizes a few moments to late. “Be nice. Be nice. Be nice.” He’s not nice. She’s pinned and her eyes clench closed as she notices him ducking. Lips press together as well, to make sure nothing got in her mouth - it was to sweet and she wasn’t sure if her stomach could handle it. And she’s groaning, whining, hands pushing at his chest when she feels the crumbs that don’t make it to her face, but actually falling into her shirt. “Gross. So gross.”
She’s helpless against his assault. He pulls back to view his handy work, unable to stop the laughter that follows seeing her skin covered in thick dark chocolate - a few strands of her hair matted to her skin, stuck in the mess. “Now we’re even.” He traps her hands against his chest, securing her wrists, his free hand coming up to wrap around her chin. He tilts her face up to his and with a satisfied smirk, licks a stripe of icing from her cheek. “You taste sweeter then usual.”
nora sniffles and it’s loud. god, she probably looks like a disgusting mess and she knows this is it. alaska has nothing holding her back, she’s going to go out and explore the world and live her dreams and nora would stay here. “it’s.. it’s not your fault.. the heart.. the heart wants what it wants..” she could feel her chest aching, because it hurt so incredibly much saying that – alaska didn’t want her enough. nora reaches over to her, fingers slipping around alaska’s and in between the spaces in a sort of reassurance.
they’re so young, with endless miles of possibilities and an infinite amount of time to explore. it’s supposed to be a happy occasion, she’s supposed to be smiling because she’s finally free. only it feels like she’s slammed head first into a dead end, like her favourite book has suddenly snapped closed on her fingers. nora’s fingers find their way into her and alaska has to look away. it’s one thing to reach the end but it’s a whole other to embrace the fact head on. “it feels like it is.” she trains her blurred vision straight ahead, at the chipped paint of her garage. “but you need someone who wants what you want... all i’d do is hold you back.”
“Please, he’s already been warned.” She’d had her a talk with the other boy, threatened him a little bit. But only a little. Ave, holds up her finger in warning giving him a shake of her head and she’s leaning back. Brown eyes narrow and she huffs, but moves closer after a second, lips against his jaw - but only to distract him as she’s shifting to block the cake and scooping up some cake into her hands. She acts fast after that, hand pulling down his face and mushing against his lips. He was eating it one way or another.
He senses it a moment too late. Too preoccupied with the feeling of her lips pressed against his jaw and his fingers grabbing at her hips, he’s not able to dodge her incoming assault. The chocolate cake is cold, the icing sticking to his lips as she smears it across his mouth. He freezes. So she wants to play dirty. “Okay.” Swiftly, he’s got her pinned against the counter with his hips, his hands coming up to cradle her cheeks, holding her still as he rubs his face across hers, transferring the mess of cake and icing and fudge from his skin to hers.
“Cheers.” Matt smiled, taking the cold bottle from Shawn’s hand. “I am hard on my demands, yes.” He admitted with a laugh. “But you know what it’s like. First role often leads to diva status, innit?” He teased with a bright grin. “What are you upto today?” He pulled out a chair and sat down with the bottle.
“Yeah yeah. Don’t go getting a big head or some shit. There’s only room for one egotistical arse in this friendship.” He tapped the neck of his bottle against Matt’s before taking a hearty sip. He lifted his shoulders in a shrug at the question. “Not much actually. I wanted to restock on oil paints but that can wait. We’re celebrating, aren’t we?”
Matt happily returned his taller friend’s hug, melting into his side. He had been so excited he had more or less bounced all the way back to the flat, and up the stairs rather than taking the lift. “Thank you! I’m so excited! I don’t start till in a month, but I mean, I need to know the script properly and stuff.” he said with a bright smile spreading over his lips. “I will be looking for you, by the way, so you can’t back out.”
He pulled back from the hug and dove back into the refrigerator, hunting down a celebratory beer for both himself and Matt. Handing over one of the cold bottles, he couldn’t help but return his friends grin, despite the fact that he’s about to be reeled into reading lines for hours on end. “Look at this, you’re first role and you’re already demanding things from the help.”
“No.” The girl gently shakes her head, keeping that amused, innocent smile on her face. “You either eat the cake or you starve.” She lifts her shoulders in a tiny shrug, lips pressing together gently. It’s his decision. “Don’t make me threaten to put you on the couch on your birthday.” The word is emphasized, exaggerated, on purpose just to annoy him greater.
He flashes his teeth at her, dimples carving crescents into the hollows of his cheeks. “Matt would feed me.” His eyes narrow slightly at the way she drawls out the word. “Careful,” He raised his icing covered finger, bringing it closer to her cheek, “Today is supposed to be all about me and what I want, right? Can’t upset the birthday gods.” He teases.
“Brilliance indeed.” Matt said excitedly. He looked up at the taller male. “You know how I had that audition last week? I got a call once I got off the tube just now saying I got the part!” He beamed. “Meaning I will be in an actual musical in actual London! It’s so exciting! You’ll come watch it, right? You and Avery?” He spoke quickly, too excited to be able to speak properly.
He takes to propping himself against now closed fridge door, nodding at the mention of the audition that Matt had been prepping nonstop for. “Well shit, that’s great, man.” A proud grin sprouted across his lips, his hand coming down to clasp Matt’s shoulder, pulling his friend into a hug. “Congrats, Matty. Fucking brilliant.” He laughed and ruffled the shorter boys sandy hair. “Of course we will.”
“positive.” he responded quietly and allowed her to cuddle in closer to him. it felt normal, they sat like this a little more often then he would let on. the only difference was that she smelt like him, not her usual scent at all that he loved, and it the fact that she was wearing hardly anything. his arm moved to wrap around her and moved her even closer, happy to just have someone there with him. “well don’t worry, we’ll feed your tummy and everything will be all better.” he teased squeezing at her shoulder gently. he felt bad that he didn’t go with her to the event, he wanted to, had a tux and everything just in case she wanted company. “well next time, cause a commotion, might liven it up a bit.”
she practically melted into his side, his arm feeling a comforting weight on her narrow shoulders, keeping her pressed against his side. a soft sigh rushed past her lips, her cheek coming to rest against his shoulder. she laughed softly, giving his waist a squeeze in return. “damn, you know how to take care of a women, don’t you?” the overall situation isn’t strange, she’s folded herself into his side, in some cases his lap, many times but this feels strangely more intimate. she nearly snorted at his suggestion, her sea blue eyes glittering. “like flip a table or smash a wine glass or something? god, the reporters would have a field day with that. can you imagine?” she shook her head gently, tilting her chin to look up at him, a smirk on her lips. “you should come with me next time. then i can tell everyone that i’m leaving to have my wicked way with you.”
Okay, so that sounds nice and honestly a lot better than what she had planned, but still. She’s mindful of the icing he’s collected on his finger, but she stands her ground, prepared to run if he thinks he’s getting it on her. “Eat the cake, Archer.” Head cants to the side, lips kinked up at the side.
His jade green eyes glitter with mirth as she launches the words at him once more. He recants with a raised brow, his thick lashes casting a shadow across the curve of his cheekbones. “Is this going to be a battle of wills?” He’s practically a certified expert at not celebrating this day at all.
Chocolate hues narrow, rising to watch the way he takes her fingers into his mouth and it’s hard for her to not whine. He’s good. He’s smart. But it’s not going to work. Avery shook her head, pieces of hair curling around to frame her face, strays from the loose ponytail she had her hair in. “Not working.” The girl murmured, giving him a grin in return and pulling her hand away. “I have ice cream too. So then it’s a two course meal. — I will cry and I will sing Happy Birthday if I have to.” The girl threatens, lashes fluttering up at him.
Apparently she’s not that easily distracted. He allows her to tug her hand free and instead takes a step towards her, easily crowding her space with his broad frame. “Better idea,” He swiped his finger along the edge of the cake, collecting a clump of icing. “I lick this chocolate frosting off of your skin. All night.”
“Honey, I’m home!” Matt announced as he slammed the door to his best friends flat closed. “But get dressed because we are celebrating my brilliance tonight.” He added with a bright smile on his face, buzzing with excitement from his news.

He’s shifting through the fridge, rummaging around for the beer he knows is there, probably hiding behind a head of lettuce or something, when Matty announces his arrival. Straightening, he arched a brow, the smaller boy nearly overflowing with palpable excitement. “Brilliance huh? How do you figure?”

She’s made a cake while he was away. In the time she’s been with him, known him, she’s never known him to actually blow out candles or have a piece of cake on his birthday. Though she doesn’t expect him to willingly blow out twenty three candles, she’s going to test a piece of cake. Her fingers are sticky - the corporate being chocolate icing - and she’s licking at them when he comes in. “Mm. Hi! – This is dinner. You have no other choice.” She grins, still trying to clean her fingers.
For most, birthdays are viewed with a contagious degree of anticipation. There’s a promise of gifts wrapped up in bright paper and cake smothered in icing and it’s an entire day devoted to people celebrating you, so the appeal might be obvious. But not to Shawn. His birthday is just another day on the calendar, February first comes and goes without any weight of significance. At least for him. With her fingers coated in fluffy icing and the dark chocolate source lingering just beside her, it’s clear Avery has other ideas. “Cake is dinner?” He grabs her hand, lifting her still sticky fingers up to his mouth and sucking the icing off, the grin on his face nothing short of devious. “I think i’d much rather have you.” The tactic is part distraction.
nora’s fingers tremble as she grips the key. it’s in the ignition and turned slightly, only to bring the radio on, but she has to drive alaska home.. she can’t just tell her to go. “i’ll uhm.. i’ll drive you home..” she mutters softly, a hand coming up to her chin, wiping at the tears that have been falling down her cheeks. her hand twists the key quickly, bringing the car to life. it’s engine seems so much louder right now as it mixes with her sniffles.
the ride back to alaska’s place is unbearable - the ultimate contradiction, it somehow managed to drag on for an eternity and yet pass by far too quickly all at the same time. pulling into the long driveway, an horrific sense of finality crashed over her, wave after wave after wave pinning her to the earth. turning to look at her girlfriend - or is it ex-girlfriend - she blinked back tears. “i’m sorry, nora.”
josh was quickly blowing it and he could feel it deep down. he knew he had to calm down and not stare at her bare legs and wonder what she even had on underneath the sweater. exhaling slowly his eyes flicked over to her, a smile on his face. “yeah no, i’m fine. just— never mind.” shaking his head he looked to the television, trying to figure out what was happening in the movie he was previously watching before she arrived. “but yeah chinese food is pretty much the bet. i had ordered a bunch just liking left overs. but i’m sure there will be plenty for even you to take home.” he laughed and turned his body to face her. “so what was wrong with the event? just boring?”
a small crease formed between her brows, her eyes narrowing slightly at his dismissal. “you sure?” his attention is entirely focused on the television in front of them. she studies him for a moment longer, eyes lingering on his profile, sweeping across the sharp edge of his jawline, the was his impossibly long lashes cast a shadow across the top of his cheekbones. taking her bottom lip into her mouth she relents and turns to watch the movie. “mm, good call. i haven’t eaten since before hair and makeup.. that was ages ago.” she curled her legs underneath her and scooted closer to him, the comforting aroma of his cologne wrapping around her like a blanket. “not exactly,” she huffed softly. “it just turned into this thing about us and not about the charity, you know? like everyone is walking around in these fancy gowns and suits and talking about how generous they are by being there and it just... it just bothers me is all. it felt like an excuse for people to get dressed up and fawn over each other.”
( @brxkenxwings )
“Where’ve you been?” The words slip as his arm moves around her waist, tugging her closer, flush against him. “I feel like I’ve not sen you in ages.”
A soft smile tugs at her lips when she feels the hard, solid press of his body against her’s. She practically melts at the contact, those cosmic green eyes fluttering closed. “God, I know. ‘M sorry. Had to go back home for a little bit.” Her nose wrinkled up slightly.
