hi, i’m L! twenty-two. they/she.
the moon is low in the sky, all umber and swelled and my body is quiet.
i watch my local cemetery from the car window each time i pass it, all mournful and victorian,
the grass is frosted now,
frozen dew an icy blanket,
winter creeps as slow as ever,
unyielding
and it hits the forehead, winter,
it always does,
aims right for the critical hit,
the fog is a sedative,
doesn’t mean the bullet hurts any less, though
we’ve hit eight billion now, Diary,
the room is full and the town is frozen,
mole-hills dig into my skin as I’m tossed around once again by a too-strong sheep.
it seems comical, i know,
the bruises say different.
the life cycle is beginning again,
and I’m trying to come to terms with the fact that not all of us are here to do great things.

Hail Aphrodite,
gleaming, sea-foam born goddess,
I look for you in the night sky
& find you nestled between the stars,
O Goddess, a pearl amongst the burning masses,
more beautiful than even Sappho had told,
I praise and adore you, Dearest One
