Recently heard from Dorothy’s adopter that she has developed thyroid cancer. Which sucks because she was recently adopted at the end of June. It’s a common type of cancer for Syrians to get, but it still makes me sad.
Got her from my sister at the beginning of the year. She was only around a couple months old. Very timid, she’d pretty much only stay inside the log that was in her bin. I'd put her food inside on the openings of the log, so she could eat without any worries. After a couple months of spending time with her, she started to gain enough confidence to crawl out of her log and eat from my hand. Eventually she’d become comfortable enough stay outside of her log. Whenever I’d be in my living room, instead of trying to hide away in her log she’d try to get my attention to say hi and get some play time.
There were times she was a little trouble maker. Always finding different ways to get out of her bin, even with different lids and cage setups. Almost felt like at least once a week I'd be searching my whole place for her. Even had to call my sister to drive over to help look for her on some of those super late nights.
Was pretty excited for Dorothy when I heard someone was looking to adopt her. Just wish this didn’t have to happen to her. She is still pretty young and deserves to live a long happy life with her new owner.
